I'm on Silence and this Dictator keeps trying to go up the large ramp from the Red side, and this railgun sends the poor Dictator flying and landing upside down.

At least with the Hornet you can get the timing right to strike at just the right moment when their guard is down, getting in and out as fast as possible.

Best and cheap solutions:

Twins + Hunter -> Thunder + Mammoth / Viking (for DM / TDM)
      or       -> Isida + Hornet (for CTF)

Dictator is better than hornet if you dont plan on buying crystals. The turret position and its tallness help a lot in aiming targets, and its less easy to flip. Works good with every other weapon too.

 

Hornet, if not M3, is not good with railgun. Low Hp, aim easy to mess, hull easy to flip, make hornet a choice for pro and experienced player.

Railgun has the best position on a Dictator, its higher thus more easier to shoot over ramps and platforms, where other tanks miss, Dictator is doesn't.

Dictator is great with rail. But I would advise you to only use Dictator with Rail, Isida, Thunder, or Rico. I have M2 Freeze and use M3 Dictator with it, and its a terrible combo.

One advantage a hornet railgun taught me last night-- they can fit into spaces other tanks cannot.

 

For example, the blue side on Silence, on the top of the map. Whenever I'd try and take him out, he'd slip into the space between the house and the wall. Put me in quite a quandary because either I waste time trying to take him out [and buying time for his team to respawn and retake control] or ignore him and go for another target, knowing full well he's just gonna pop out and zing me with the railgun.

 

I had an Isida though-- a ricochet player would not have the same problem I did.

 

Hornet may cost more than Dictator... but if you plan to play TankiOnline for a long time and don't want to buy multiple tanks yet, I think the Hornet has more long-term value.

No, smoky m3 is not a crap at all if you know how to play with it. I play with wasp m2 and smoky m3, at WO1 i will upgrade to Viking, Dictator is crap. WIll keep playing with smoky m3 till i sum up enough crystals for thunder m2.

 

Most of the time i get the DL ratio near to 10 coz i know i to hide my wasp and hit the others with precision.

This is in silence 2 and i can hit any red team player from this spot. Though its upon you, if you can avoid someone hitting you. One needs a good smoky skills to hit accurately and esp. hit at the side of a tank to displace them hence they can't target you.

Hornet all the way, dictator is too weak, even at M3, but the hornet has around the same life.

 

The only difference is that dictator is a bigger target, while hornet is around twice as fast.
