  2. Container openings. A simple task, but it brings along suspense and excitement, as well as anger, frustration, and jealousy with the unsatisfactory rewards the Tanki Gods bring. With a few quick stories however, you'll find that your viewpoint will slowly shift from disgruntled to grateful tanker. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ah, containers. I was quite interested in these strange items in the garage once I got my hands on them. The first time I opened a container, all I wanted were a few easy crystals, and I was thankful enough for a small handful of Gold boxes. Nowadays, even 10 000 or 25 000 crystals upfront doesn't seem to cut it anymore. I didn't understand why. How did I change from pleased to hungering for more each time? It simply didn't make sense. But after lunch, I took a quick walk around my house, and it was just a few minutes down the age-old memory lane that I found the answer: I had skewed my expectations so high that it was almost impossible to satisfy me. To understand this, let's get into expectations. Oh, I almost forgot, welcome to the Tanker's Column. In each episode, I'll be covering some everyday tanker dilemmas and using real life stories to illustrate how I found solutions through them! Expectations Let's get this bre... aw come on, 3 500 crystals again? An expectation is basically something that you want to happen. Say if I rolled two six-faced dice (with numbers from one to six) in a board game, then I would expect to roll a sum between two and twelve. At first, that was how I started out, but as the game progressed, I started to think "Oh, I wouldn't want to roll a 7 or smaller, I need those large numbers". Because of this, I started to restrict the expected outcomes in my brain to a different set of numbers, which frustrated me. That's exactly what is happening right now. When you open a container, you're already searching for something, like an XT skin or a Hull Augment. When you get a shot effect, this bothers you since you've been looking for the Augment and not the effect. But that's just a small piece of the puzzle we need to solve. This next factor was the one that brought my container expectations to an unbeatably high bar I could never clear. It keeps me (and many other tankers in the same trap) in perpetual jealousy. The Neighbour Theory Theirs: Mine: Basically: "If my friend can get a new MacBook for his birthday, why can't I?" This theory is often applied in many situations, and it leaves those who believe they are short-changed by this philosophy angry. Take this example. I was probably twelve years old and had joined the elite ranks of a friend group. Since many of my friends' birthdays fell into the spring months, I remember seeing many of them celebrate at our lunch group with lavish gifts and enough to feed our group of nearly 100 people. As I enjoyed the festivities, I thought, "Well, I'm also an elite in this group, perhaps I'll get a celebration like this next year". I expected to have a similar celebration just because several other people had amazing parties, including my friend Preston, whom half the group disliked for his pompous attitude. But enough about pompous Preston, it's time to get back to the story. By the time the next year, and my birthday, rolled around, I got a fat load of nothing from most of my friends, with the exception of a 75-cent cupcake from the lunch counters. You could just say that they all forgot my birthday. I was infuriated. Ah, my favorite paint. I've finally got it now. A few years later, I was chilling with my friends back at MoF, the parkour club I used to be part of, and we were talking about containers. My friends had opened containers to find awesome special paints (including the E236 I so desperately wanted, as it was the unofficial club paint), and an XT. I proceeded to open my fifteen containers, and the most I got was... a 100 supply pack. Seriously? Again, I was beyond angry. But over time, my attitude changed, though my container luck did not. Looking back, it's all about mindset. In Retrospect Several months ago, I celebrated my birthday again. That day, I was supposed to take a four-hour exam and then trudge through my first three classes, which were boring torture. I received two birthday wishes and a couple of small presents, but instead of feeling short-changed, I was grateful. Though I had no expensive gifts and no large celebration, I was thankful enough that some people had chosen to spend some time with me. I realized that during that day, I had stopped comparing what I had to what others had and accepted whatever I got with an open mind. Whereas I had nearly lost my mind earlier with the birthday celebration and the 100 supply pack, I now decided to let it alone. Who cares what type of celebration others have on their birthday? Who cares if there are four friends who each get 100 000 crystals from their containers? I didn't. Not anymore. Solution Method 1: Become a Youtuber and get lucky on video. So how can you achieve this peace of mind? Simply follow these steps: Have an open mind: Don't shut yourself into an unreachable tower of expectations, especially if its something you can't change. Instead just go through this as if it were opening a gift from a distant relative: unknowing, but ready to accept whatever is inside the packaging. Focus on yourself: Thinking about what others receive will just trap you deeper into a world of expectations you'll have trouble living up to. They might get the XT you wanted or the PC you've been begging your parents for. But that's them, and you're you. Don't worry about them. Avoid Temptations: For many, social media is a form of temptation. Multi-talented people make you feel slow, stupid, and unlucky. If it's getting to you, unplug. Following these steps will greatly benefit you and start to change your mindset. It's either that or doing it the hard way: having life disappoint you so much that you've been sucked of all hope. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ And that's about it! Remember, this is the Tanker's Column where we'll solve Tanki problems with everyday life lessons. Good luck in Tanki and life! If you have any questions you would like answered, PM me.

  3. Since the creation of Tanki, exclusivity has been something that almost everyone desires. Whether it be through displaying rare protection modules, fully upgraded equipment that just launched, or through exotic new skins, the desire to be unique often finds its way into the choices made by tankers. In this article, We will be going over the top 5 best and top 5 worst skins in Tanki. The criteria: Since aesthetics are very much a subjective issue, We will be deciding upon which skins look the best and worst based upon the primary features. For example, the principal features of XT skins pertain to animal motifs using gold in the case of turrets. The Prime series consists of skins that are meant to look highly futuristic. Lastly, Ultra skins are intended to have a highly mechanical look with the added benefit of showing animations such as recoil. So let's jump right into it then! Top 5 worst skins: The following five skins are the ones which I found to look the absolute worst. They failed to fulfill the criteria set by members of the same series, or they don't look as good as expected. #5 Worst Twins XT: This is a skin that sets out to be unique in the line of XT skins, but winds up having too much going on. The official description suggests that this skin is supposed to be covered in dinosaur hide while being infused with lava from Indonesian volcanoes. The primary features of the skin are the chameleon-like skin (in silver), the chameleon-like skin (in gold), regular metal, and a lava colored orangish-red in the front of the turret near the barrels. This skin certainly does a good job of setting itself apart from other skins, but it's almost confusing to look at the skin. There's too much silver and not enough gold, which is a problem XT skins shouldn't have. Additionally, while there is symmetry in the overall look, the design patterns look somewhat strange. Certainly far from the worst, but also quite far from the best. Rating: 4/10 #4 Worst Titan prime: One of the primary features of hulls, as they are upgraded to higher and higher levels, is that there's more metal added on to the hull. Titan Prime will make you feel like your hull got downgraded. There is less metal than the stock version, which in itself is quite bothersome. The metal that is there isn't utilized very well. Generally speaking, there appear to be patches of metal and patches of areas without any silver metal. As goes the requirement of looking futuristic, this hull pretty much throws it out of the window. The overall look is less futuristic and more of a tank that was prepared for emergency use and thus is only coated with metal in areas where it will be vulnerable to fire. All in all, this skin is quite disappointing. Rating: 4/10 #3 worst Railgun Legacy: This skin being here might upset a lot of people, but to be completely frank, Legacy skins don't fit into the game anymore. The biggest problem I feel with this skin is the extreme amount of red dots and circles. These make the turret look very, very strange because the red dots aren't the kind that makes the turret look intimidating like how Shaft looked in the days of old. The red dots look strange, and that's about all there is to say on them. In addition to this, the presence of so many different pieces of on the skin itself (divided by the black lining) gives the turret a very cheap look. In terms of looking like Railgun in the good old days, I imagine this skin does do a fantastic job. Nonetheless, it looks quite ugly. Rating: 3/10 #2 Worst Railgun Prime: Where do I even start with this skin? This skin is horrible. I strongly dislike it. My biggest gripe? It just looks like Railgun Mk1 with a little bit of metal thrown on. The complete and total lack of metal is really apparent, and even the metal that is present has not really been utilized very well at all. The overall look of the turret is just horrible, and I really do regret having gotten it from its challenge. In terms of looking futuristic, I frankly think this skin more or less flunks the requirements. There's nothing futuristic about this turret whatsoever. It is, however, hideous, as I've already said. Rating: 0/10 #1 Worst Viking XT: This is by far the worst skin in all of Tanki Online. The expectation with an XT skin is that there will be a decent amount of gold on the hull so that it looks vastly superior to its stock counterpart. This skin utilizes extremely little gold on top of the hull, uses some extra silver, and gets the "XT" title slapped onto it. Frankly, this skin isn't really worth being called an XT. XT skins are supposed to be unique and exclusive (at least in aesthetic value, if not rarity). This hull feels as though it got a rushed job at the time of release. It certainly seems like not enough work was really put into designing the skin because this hull is very stingy with the gold. For reference, I don't even have the skin, and I still strongly dislike it, along with Tidebreaker. Words can't describe how ugly this skin is. But numbers can. I give it a -10i/10. Rating: -10i/10 Top 5 best: The following skins are the ones which I feel do a great job at nailing what they're going for or they look fantastic. #5 Best Striker XT: This skin is supposed to be based off marine life. The description in the garage suggests that this skin is modeled after fish, which though may be powerful are often reduced to the stereotype of gold fish. As go XT skins, this thing has been covered pretty generously in gold. The best part by far about this is how the design is quite strategically placed at the side of the barrels. To me at least, this gives the turret the look of a dragon spitting flaming projectiles onto its target, much like Smaug from the Hobbit movies. The red glow is also maximized in terms of use because it is used to highlight the eyes of the dragon. The white ridges present on top of the turret certainly give it a more regal and powerful look to. In terms of keeping in line with the XT series, this skin does a pretty good job. A prime ([member=Pun}ny right?) example of something Twins XT tried but miserably failed to be with its strange design. Rating: 9/10 #4 Best Thunder Ultra: This is one of my personal favorite skins for Thunder. Ultra skins are meant to be similar to skins in Tanki X. The general point of this series of skins is to be somewhat mechanical and mildly futuristic. With Thunder Ultra, this is particularly visible. There is a lot of metal generously scattered throughout the turret. Thunder Ultra uses a smaller amount of metal coating but still manages to give the turret a very intimidating and powerful look. The mechanical look is further amplified by the recoil animation of the barrel of the turret when you fire, which is really what makes this skin amazing to me. The overall look is somewhat slender; however, since the turret is supposed to look somewhat realistic, I find that to be an excellent addition to the skin. Rating: 10/10 #3 Best Gauss XT: One of the more recent additions to Tanki online (and among one of the most expensive), this XT skin's release means that every turret and hull as at least an XT skin. Gauss without a skin equipped looks like a turret that was built without much space or material to spare. Certainly far from bad, but it doesn't feel as complete. This skin will add a whole lot of golden armor to your turret without making the gold seem randomly splashed everywhere. The addition of what looks to be an eagle on the barrel is also a really lovely touch. Additionally, the texture of the skin looks smooth and sturdy at the same time, making the turret's looks feel somewhat completed. As go XT skins, this one utilizes the gold well and uses a lot of it to improve the appearance of the turret drastically. Rating: 10/10 #2 Best Dictator XT: This is an amazing skin. Among all the XT skins for hulls, no other hull manages to champion the gold and white colors in a balance that is so perfect. Most hulls tend to just incorporate a significant amount of gold into their design. Dictator XT takes this one step further by making the gold resemble wings, which I might add is a really, really nice addition on Tanki's part. Additionally, the white-ish silver outline towards where the turret is placed is also a minor but significant feature of the skin which pays tribute to the exceptional level of detail featured in this amazing skin. Lastly, the lights in the front of the turret are turned into a reddish color as opposed to the usual blue, giving the hull an even more fierce look. Without a doubt, this is the best XT skin for a hull. Rating: 10/10 #1 Best Viking Ultra: This is by far the best skin that I know of. The reason I love this skin is that it does something that no other series manages to do as well. It makes Viking look different. The slightly smaller, taller look without any skins is replaced by a shorter, sleeker, and seemingly more armored look. Additionally, a whole load of cool mechanics, such as being able to see the wheels inside the treads of the tank rotate, is added. The overall look is very mechanical, but not so in a way that would make the hull look rigid or awkward. The skin makes your hull look like it was built to fight the strongest of enemies. It also seems very sturdy and quite realistic. The only flaw that I dare point out in this beauty is that while jumping, the treads of the tank don't move, but that's a pretty minor gripe. All in all, absolutely stunning. Rating: 10/10 A note to the reader: Having one of the top 5 worst skins doesn't make your skin worthless, neither does having one of the top 5 best skins make your skin the best. At the end of the day, it's an achievement to have a skin at all, so no matter what skin you have be proud to don it in battle if you like it because that's all that really matters. These skins are simple my opinion and are not nesecarily fact. Except for Railgun prime, that thing is just horrible. Conclusion: Well that's all I have to say about skins. What are your favorite skins? Which ones do you hate? Leave a reply in the comments below!

  5. Can I get this configuration/turret mount? It would be helpful to shoot around corners without exposing any part of my hull. Thanks.

  8. If you're posting images, make sure they are relevant to the topic you are posting them in. If you just want to share a random battle result, it's not appropriate to post it in the Ares thread and say "I saw many Ares players in that battle" — that's not enough. If you're posting large images, it's better to put them in a spoiler or reduce their size so that they don't take up too much space on the screen for other players. And I'm not sure what the deal is with the big green text you posted a couple times as an image. It was unnecessary because you could just type the same text normally. Posting it like that is considered spam and may be removed.

  9. They said a while ago that the controls have been changed. You can now turn the turret either with mouse using mouse controls, or with keyboard like a normal tank, but only if you disable mouse controls in settings. If you have mouse controls enabled and try to use keyboard only, you will not be able to turn the turret.

  10. Here is a small collection of Tanki Online based windows backgrouds. If you like simple, monochrome backgrounds, you will like it. Here you can find all of them. Many of them were inspired by different clothing designs.

  11. The new hull Ares is awful, which swerves too much. Not easy to control. The overdrive is poor, with one big shot which you can miss the target easily, as the projectile is dead slow. Compare that to hornet overdrive, which provides an over powered weapon for a good 30 seconds. The only good thing, is if you can hit the juggernaut when overdrive is active, it will severely weaken the juggernaut or destroy it. Let me just say, as soon as I complete challenge using Ares, it will be left to gather dust in the garage. My rating for this new hull is 4/10, so I class the hull as poor.

  16. That he was no ordinary child was immediately apparent. Some called him the runt of the litter, others just referred to him as “The Silent One”. True, there was no macroscopic oddity that defined his face or a deep scar that ran down the length of his back. There were no mutated arms or paralytic legs. On the outside he looked normal, just an everyday kid going about his everyday routine. Most people he saw regularly assumed there was something wrong on the inside; a disease eating away at his very core. The doctors had no name for the mysterious condition and had never before witnessed the profound effect that was evident within this boy. As the years passed, his nickname came to define him more and more, until many people completely forgot his real name, only focused on the thing that set him apart from the rest. Neighbors and family friends sometimes attempted to get through the barrier, but the boy didn’t seem to understand or care to reward their efforts. No one knew what went on inside his brain because he never spoke, could not speak. A “ rare larynx issue” medical professionals had dubbed it, although “rare” was a gross understatement. It was a miracle he had even survived this long, with no mode of communication with the outside world. He ate like a robot, just enough to stay out of the hospital, and robotically performed the other common actions of a human being; although it was a mystery how he had originally learned to do them. He was kept out of school, sports, and other common activities of an elementary aged boy, isolated at home where he spent countless hours shut within the four walls of his bedroom. With no foreign ideas able to penetrate his skull and no ideas within able to escape, people assumed his brain activity was nil. However, this couldn’t be further from the case. In fact, it was the exact opposite. For an ordinary deaf boy, no -- even for a normal person, it would take years and years to learn about the world and why things worked like they did. For this particular child, knowledge was an innate part of his being. It was because of his inadequateness to share information that he was so smart. The thorn in his side, the inability to speak, had indirectly unlocked a sixth sense within his mind from which new thoughts and ideas sprouted. No teaching via a human being was necessary. It was ironic. He was dependent upon no one, yet everyone regarded him as an outcast and treated him as one would a little baby. This eight year old was more knowledgeable than most adults, yet the adults themselves shied away from instructing the boy based on the assumption that he could not understand any form of teaching. The ones who claimed to know him best, in reality, didn’t know him at all. They could not possibly fathom that a mastermind lay hidden underneath the seemingly ignorant and oblivious “Silent One”. And so he listened and observed, content to remain in his shell of muteness. More years passed, and with age came an even higher level of understanding for the boy. He lived in a London flat with his father, mother having died during his own childbirth. From the vantage point of his attic window he watched life go on below him—the hustle and bustle of the outside world— a place where he would never truly belong. Sometimes he wished he could talk and communicate with those around him. Although the boy didn’t know it himself, if he was awarded this wish, he would in fact lose what came natural to him, his sixth sense. The spoken word would be traded for a genius mind; for indeed, if he could speak, a whole host of ideas and thoughts that occupied his brain would be released, and with that his genius qualities. He remembered every moment of every day like it had just happened. His whole life was inside his mind, a powerful force whose potential was limitless. Within the confines of his room, the thirteen year old boy put his brain to work. He now began to grasp the endless possibilities his wealth of knowledge afforded. He knew no scientific formula nor the names of any chemicals, yet within the span of two months had constructed a fully functional laboratory inside his attic room. Using only liquids he found around the house and elements he discovered during his brief excursions outside, the boy built upon current scientific and mathematical concepts, unlocking calculations that none even knew existed. Of course, he kept his experiments secret, successfully concealing them from his father, who rarely checked in on the teenager he thought had no hope of achieving anything in life. After the initial two years of the “Silent One’s” existence, spent in the hospital, the boy was virtually forgotten about. He had gone from being a constantly observed specimen by deaf specialists to a solitary teenager living in an attic. No one really cared about the well-being of the boy; his father only visited the room to make sure his son was still breathing. Mr. Darylan had more important things to worry about, such as running a company and monitoring his tinder profile. Everything changed in March at the boys sixteenth year. A special school for the deaf had just opened on the main island of Hawaii, and a certain doctor had prescribed that a few years there would be beneficial for the boy. Arrangements were quickly made, and before the week was out, “The Silent One” had made the trip. His surroundings were now completely altered; the musty attic space of an overcrowded central London apartment traded for a quiet block room overlooking the peaceful and serene Pacific Ocean. Out on the coast other people were scarcely seen; human bodies substituted for the wind and waves of the beautiful island shoreline. It was here that a love and fascination for the sea awakened within him. The howling wind and powerful waves held the boy spellbound, and for hours on end he could be seen gazing out his window, setting his brain to work on the mysterious ways of the ocean. He had managed to smuggle some of his experimental equipment onto the plane, and now set up an upgraded version of his London laboratory. Using samples of ocean water the boy probed into the world of H₂O. After he had spent a couple months on the island and was now accustomed to his new surroundings, the boy grew increasingly braver. In the evenings he often snuck down to the beach alone to ponder over phenomena like the ocean tide and to observe storm clouds as they gathered above the wide expanse of the sea. Questions swirled around in his mind, the answers to which I myself can not explain; they are far beyond my own understanding. One such question that intrigued the boy was the idea of buoyancy. During his beach sessions, the boy frequently witnessed a variety of different water related activities: people surfing, water skiing, and paddle boarding, just to name a few. These all triggered a nagging quandary for “The Silent One”. Would it be possible to develop a device that enabled humans to walk on water? In order for this to work, the footwear would have to be incredibly light — less dense than actual H₂O to make sure the surface tension of water would not be stressed. For the next month, solving this problem took up every free minute of the boy’s time. He experimented with weight and gravity, tested the bounds of surface tension, and learned new, complex properties related to fluids. His lab was now devoted solely to achieve this end. The teachers themselves were still oblivious to the teen’s knowledge or to the contents of his room; however, unbeknownst to “The Silent One”, there indeed was someone who had been watching him. A pair of eyes that couldn’t help but observe a deaf boy as, day after day, he emerges from within the confines of a deaf school and journeys down to the coastline. Often, this other person felt some weird inner force, calling him to go confront the queer boy that spent so much time sitting peacefully on the beach. He very much longed to meet him in person, but at every instance of a possible convergence he shied away, afraid to socialize with someone evidently deaf. However, fate had other plans. It was Saturday morning, the ocean water deflecting the early sunbeams, casting the sand particles on the shore with a dazzling glow. The boy was making his way down a narrow staircase leading to a strip of grassland that jutted out into the beach area. Suddenly he stopped cold, momentarily frozen, unsure of what to do next. Not ten yards in front of him a figure was stooped over, doodling lines in the sand with a large stick, presumably driftwood. It was only when the figure peered up a few moments later that “The Silent One” realized it was another boy. A normal boy. Evident when he waved and said hello. “The Silent One” slowly raised his right foot onto the step behind him, poised to make a hasty retreat. “Oh no,” the black haired teenager below sounded genuinely concerned. “I didn’t mean to startle you. Don’t go.” Warily, the boy shifted his foot back to where it had been before. Confused, he regarded the other human with a quizzical look. He had never experienced words quite like what he had just heard. Could someone else actually care about him? He hardly thought so. As soon as this person realized he couldn’t speak, everything would change. It always had with other “normal” boys he had met. A few jests and then ignorance was all he had ever received from people his own age. However, this time… he couldn’t be sure yet, but it felt different. “I’ve seen you come down here before,” the other boy went on, dropping his stick. “And I’ve often wanted to join you. I… I know you’re deaf, but you don’t act like it.” There was something different about this one, thought “The Silent One”. Finally someone had guessed. Just as the boy talking to him right now wasn’t the stereotypical “normal” boy, he wasn’t a “normal” deaf boy. “Do you have a name?” The question caught the boy off guard. The teachers called him Daniel, but that wasn’t his real name. He supposed they made it up. Typical that they hadn’t asked his permission first. He shook his head. The black haired boy squatted down in the sand, deep in thought. A few moments later he straightened up, a strange gleam shone in his eyes. “I’ll call you Kai. It’s the Hawaiian word for ocean, you know.” “The Silent One” smiled. He liked the sound of that. It was a fitting name too. “I’m Greg,” the other boy held out his hand in a gesture of friendship. Kai slowly made his way down the last few steps of the staircase, then stuck out his own arm. It was weird partaking in a handshake when up to this point he had only witnessed other people doing it. For the first time that he could remember, he actually felt wanted. It was a warm, tingly feeling. Something that was both foreign and queer to the mastermind. This first meeting between the two boys unlocked a whole new world for Kai. From that time on, they frequently spent evenings together down at the beach. Kai was able to experience a friendship, and Greg learned that geniuses were not always the most conspicuous. Gradually, Kai got to know other boys within Greg’s circle of friends and he was called more and more by his new Hawaiian name. The nickname “The Silent One” was gone forever, replaced with a reminder of his love for the sea. When introducing the boy to a new person, Greg would sometimes start off with the words “This is Kai. Kai’s deaf.” Then would go on to relate all the positive characteristics that defined this unique boy. Through time Kai came to treasure his inability to speak as the thing that made him who he was. In time the boy graduated from the deaf school and moved on to a different era of his life. He had long perfected his buoyant footwear design, making it possible for man to virtually walk on water. Through all these accomplishments he never forgot Greg. After all, it was through that black haired youth that Kai had garnered his name and had finally conquered his own fear of the communication barrier. He was who he was. He was Kai — mastermind, genius, and now famous. He was also deaf. Kai’s deaf. PyTHOR Disclaimer: This story is entirely fictitious and has no literal connection to the life of Kaisdf

  17. Ever been rickrolled? Chances are, you have been rickrolled at one point. After this GIF, let's get into the "tankiroll". ? We're no strangers to Shaft You know the rules and so do I A full commitment's what I'm thinking of You wouldn't get this from any other player I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling Gotta make you understand Never gonna use RFM Never gonna abuse Booster drone Never gonna run around and camp you Never gonna make you rage Never gonna be toxic Never gonna camp the gold and hurt you We've known each other for so long Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it Inside we both know what's been going on We know the game and we're gonna play it And if you ask me how I'm feeling Don't tell me you're too blind to see Never gonna use RFM Never gonna abuse Booster drone Never gonna run around and camp you Never gonna make you rage Never gonna be toxic Never gonna camp the gold and hurt you Never gonna use, never gonna use (Use RFM) (Yeah) Never gonna use, never gonna use (Use RFM) We've known each other for so long Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it Inside we both know what's been going on We know the game and we're gonna play it I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling Gotta make you understand Never gonna use RFM Never gonna abuse Booster drone Never gonna run around and camp you Never gonna make you rage Never gonna be toxic Never gonna camp the gold and hurt you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna make you rage Never gonna be toxic Never gonna camp the gold and hurt you Never gonna use RFM Never gonna abuse Booster drone Never gonna run around and camp you Never gonna make you rage This is a song about using Shaft without rapid-fire mode or Booster drone, which, of course, are 2 of my least favorite things in TO (I seem to think if you even use Shaft with rapid-fire mode you are toxic)

  22. The two skins currently added (standard and XT) are both technically of the Ultra type - moving parts, more details, more polygons. I assume all new turrets and hulls will have such skins by default in the future, and I assume that eventually the old skins will be removed completely, or upgraded to Ultra free of charge (though this is unlikely). However, this does mean that the skin requires 10x more effort to design since it's now a detailed 3D model, rather than a basic one with flat faces and no more than 20 polygons. For this reason, devs decided to start by releasing just one default high quality skin for all modifications, rather than trying to make 4 in the same time.

  27. I love its overdrive. I think it's really interesting, and quite possibly OP. You just have to know when to use it. Make sure you're level and stationary, and fire at a group of teammates/enemies while also making sure it covers the greatest distance on the map. That way you have a chance to get some random kills down the line, which I did multiple times yesterday. One of the most powerful strategies is using the OD as a mobile healing station when attacking or escaping the enemy base. The best example I could think of is Parma or Desert RGB — take the ball, aim at the other end of the map, fire the OD and just drive in a straight line, keeping up with your own OD ball (Ares Mk8 with speed boost has more than enough speed to do that). With 500 hp/tick constant healing, the only way you can die is if you get one-shot. So you just drive along, killing everyone in your way, and easily score a goal. The explosion self-damage is fine — it forces you to be more aware of the ball's position, and more careful about where you use the OD. In fact, I think it should even get a nerf where the ball has limited damage/healing potential and/or doesn't heal the Ares that activated it. If you think about it, Ares OD (BFG) is similar to Mammoth (AT-field) in its mechanics: Both of them heal you Both of them are a close range high damage attack Both are mobile Both have similar charging rates (I think) But BFG provides constant, unlimited healing (like the old repair kit on steroids), whereas AT-field is a one-time full heal BFG can heal an unlimited amount of other teammates BFG is a ranged weapon, whereas AT-field requires the player to put themselves in a dangerous position in order to get kills BFG makes a massive explosion upon impact with a prop BFG can last much longer than AT-field, possibly over a minute on long maps The only advantages of AT-field over BFG is that it gives the player a speed boost and the player can change direction while using it. IMHO it definitely deserves a nerf, but it will likely stay as it is if the hull doesn't get popular due to its unique controls. By the way, BFG also gets a massive advantage from the bug (or feature?) where you keep some OD charge if you die right after activating it. I've had multiple instances where I fire the BFG moments before I get killed, and end up with over 80% charge remaining, ready to fire another one 30 seconds later. Same thing can be done with Wasp, though I noticed it's much harder, and Wasp bomb isn't all that useful compared to BFG.

  28. All the Ultra skin are meh, especially the Viking (it makes your hull looks like a garbage tin box with a few LED). Thunder is indeed the best of the lot. Only the XT are beautiful. Unfortunatly, Railgun is just too small to make noteworthy skins.

  30. The camera is not steady, it is very "jerky". If you use shaft and you go into sniper mode when you track a target the movement of the camera is nowhere close to the smoothness of the Flash version. In the Flash version if you track a target that is moving fast the camera moves smoothly and there is a very slight lag of the optics as you move the turret fast. In the HTML version the camera cannot catch up the fast movement of the turret and as result 9 out of 10 times I miss shots that I rarely miss in Flash. This makes it very difficult to play.

  31. The Shaft turret is unwieldy and controls are (in my opinion) not suitable for sniping. I assume this is to do with my laptop specs but given that I cannot change that i should make my problems clear here. Arcade mode: The rotation of the turret just feels so off. It has none of the weight and control present in the flash version, making aiming even at close range difficult. The roll and pitch of the hunter hull i use is far more prevalent here. while i appreciate it might be designed that way, the lack of stability is really difficult to get used to. Again, it lacks the weight and stability that i got in the flash version. Sniping: This mode has a host of problems. The motions are jerky and exaggerated, making small alterations into huge swings, random jerks occurring for no reason and larger motions moving to quickly to keep track of. The transition after a shot back to arcade mode is really disorientating, a long movement seemingly back a long the barrel and u through the top of the tank rather than just a quick camera change. Basically, the whole experience with this version feels like playing through runny treacle, six feet away from the action. The tank lacks any feeling of weight and , rather than matching my inputs and being an extension of the keyboard, it feels oversensitive and far away like i am playing across a room form it, where reactions are much slower and this is massively detrimental to the precise shooting that i like to do. I may not be explaining this too well but ive done my best. this is not small and i think the flash system was perfectly executed where using this turret is concerned.

  32. Well, if you argue that "you can simply move away and wait for the duration to end", then I have nothing to say since this basically applies to all ODs. Besides, in certain game mode like CTF or point capture, you have already won the fight if you manage to force your enemies to back off. Yes, when you are low on heath, extreme burst damage like Shaft and Magnum and kill you in the dome, but how rare is that.

  33. Devs are inviting us to html5 version but I think that doesn’t make sense. Every game crush 4 or 5 times and if I could luckily charge OD, game crush when I use OD. Before inviting us to new version of the game, you should make it playable.

  34. Basically its a toy to make the buyers spend their money. But since tanki sucks and is broken most of the time it really doesnt matter. No need to buff or nerf anything. The game is junk.

  35. Yep, I agree Ares's overdrive need a serious buff, huge buff. Look at Titan, his OD makes him and his allies almost immune to damage. Viking's OD allows him to dish out massive amount of damage. Not to mention MERDER HORNET. Now look at Ares, the orb travels so slow, which means it is basically impossible to use it in mid-long range. Also, it explodes and deal damage to EVERYONE when it hit something solid, which means close range is no go as well. Now, only short range is feasible, but how many time you saw the entire team clustered in one single spot? In terms of the maneuverability, Ares is better than all other heavy hulls, but I believe it has the single weakest overdrive in the entire game. I mean this OD is very similar to Moira's Biotic Orb, which is merely a normal abilities. Ares's OD is no where near the strength of an ultimate should have. That's why I was proposing these changes. It will at least make the OD viable in close range. Background: Currently, Ares's overdrive (i.e. the slow traveling plasma orb) explodes and deal damage to EVERYONE (including enemies, Ares himself and allies) near it when it hits solid objects (the ground, obstacles, other tanks, etc). Issue: The orb is designed so that team mates and the Ares are supposed to chase it for healing while the orb disperses clustered enemies. I would see it as a create opening for a team fight. Yet, the orb somehow explodes at the end and killed everyone near it, which defeats the purpose of healing team mates and damaging enemies. Suggestion: The final explosion damages enemies while healing allies and Ares himself. Battle points are rewarded according to the damage dealt/number of kills (using standard equation) and healing done (using Isida healing equation). To balance it, it might required to reduce the damage and/or healing done.

  36. I'm trying very hard to test Ares' Overdrive but I'm very limited in what I can do on Mobile. If anyone else can help out it would be great. What I have so far: Overdrive charge from points: 700 Overdrive charge over time: 700 There is a retention period though it is near impossible for me to figure out on Mobile. I estimate it to be ~1-1.5 seconds. The highest amount of OD charge I've retained but was still able to shoot a plasma ball was 79%. Here is one shot while retaining 66% OD charge. Gaining manual OD charge after activation The period in which you cannot gain manual Overdrive charge immediately after activating it depends on whether or not the plasma ball is in the air or already exploded. At 6% passive recharge is when you are able to gain manual charge if the plasma ball is still in the air. At either 4 or 5% passive recharge is when you are able to gain manual charge if the plasma ball has exploded before then. In one instance - this instance where I retained 79% charge when dying after activating the OD - I had gained manual Overdrive charge almost immediately after dying because an enemy was right in front of me when I died. I have not been able to recreate this scenario so I won't say that this is confirmed to be happening.

  38. You should not be grumpy, but happy - new stuff. Furthermore many existing mechanics in the game are futuristic, Ares is not weirder, just see it as a big drone. Might be technology gifted to TO after the last UFO invasion visite on tanki. Any player can buy the Hull with crystals, how does Ares make Tanki more P2W?
