Oh wait, me. How exactly do I rip off something I had a hand in creating? How exactly is writing a sequel portrayed as a tribute, in the same publication, ripping off? Did other reporters "rip me off" when they did their own versions of 'Chronicles of a Newbie'? No, the one's ripping off are the poorly copied ideas in this section, who have no clue about comedic timing. You just correctly defined plagiarism! Gold Star for you! :lol:

I've recently noticed a number of topics in the Off Topic Discussion forum basically directly copying articles and contests in the newspaper. While it's great that the newspaper is inspiring people to try and write, plagiarism is not appreciated and it would be nice to see some originality. So, if you still want to use things from the paper, here are some suggestions: If you want to use a format/idea you've seen in the newspaper it would be polite and courteous to ask the author for permission to use it. Also mention you have permission at the top of your article! If you are going to use a format or idea from the paper, put your own spin on it, make it your own, don't just copy it directly and if you think you can improve it by changing something, do it! A great example of this is here: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=242849 Additional side note: If your ambition is to be a reporter someday, being original is a key part of the job! Remember that the impression you give now is something that will be remembered when you apply, so take your time and make sure everything you make public is of a high standard! Treat each article like it's a Reporter application!
