I think it's perfectly balanced, which is why it's so popular. I actually prefer blue and long considered red to be at a disadvantage, but often I find myself capturing flags easier on the red side. That's the beauty of the map, despite the fact that it is completely asymmetrical, each side gets roughly 50% of the wins (from what I've seen at least).
