Okay I knows its not a tank - swapped for a kayak ... but true Here's a story from WW2 - some commandos launched their kayaks from a British sub off the coast of Nazi Occupied France and under cover of darkness paddle up the river Garonne to Bordeaux, the target is enemy cargo ships.They take 3 days to get there and lay up in daylight surrounded by Enemy. Some don't make it drowning in strong currents,some are captured and the Nazis are alerted.Despite this the rest make it to the target attach limpet mines and blow up several ships.Escape plan and they only learn this en - route is on foot acting on own initiative Several made it out heading to Spain after some help with food shelter and clothing.The remainder were captured,they never talked and were shot for 'being commandos' The best bit for me is one bold guy actually made it out in full uniform under the noses of the Germans - even travelling on a train to the south of France. That takes some beating. Cockleshell Heroes is the book written about this story.
