When I started this group, I had no idea what I was getting into. To be honest, it was just a whim. I was hoping for Reporter applications to open, because I really wanted to join the actual reporters. Then I had the random idea of starting my own writing group, not to rival the actual newspaper or anything. Originally (I had this idea in early February), I hoped it would actually encourage the Newspaper Administrators into accepting my applications. Although in the end it did quite the contrary. I decided to quietly go through with my idea of an "unofficial newspaper" through PM. My friend, @duck100101 had expressed to me that he wanted to be a Reporter, so he was the first one I contacted. I was very new to the forum, and knew almost no one. The random people that I noticed posting articles on the forum, specifically through Rem's "Editorials", I contacted and asked to join the group. Everyone I contacted aside one person accepted, and I was excited since I believed we had some good writers especially since a Forum Moderator had joined us. I really didn't know anything about any of our members. had some... baggage.. that I hadn't anticipated nor known about until after we started this topic. Then, a week before we were going to "publish", Reporter Applications were finally opened. I decided not to publish anything that I had written, because I wanted to use it in my Reporter Application and perhaps release it in the actual Newspaper. Anyways, over the earlier month we wrote several articles, and we considered how we should release them. I wanted to make a single topic and post all of our articles there, to spare the flood on the forum. But we had no real leadership, and one member ended up just posting an article in a separate topic. Bluelight started this topic, and the then-known "Unofficial Newspaper" was open to the public. Initially, and still, we received some very negative feedback and I was actually devastated. Me and @mcmonkey25 happened to be accepted to the actual newspaper, and left because he was too busy. In my mind, our best members left the Tanki Writing Club. I ignored the Writing Club for quite some time. Recently, I took a look and saw that basically all of our core members had left and the leadership had changed several times. I also looked at the TWC's articles, and was a bit sickened by the lack of quality, and general English skills. At the moment I'm quite disturbed by the TWC's decent into madness a chaotic mosaic of off-topic "articles" containing no useful information and degrading any sense whatsoever of professionalism. Looking back, I probably shouldn't have attempted to start this group, or at least given it more thought. I wish I had done @Yisroel.Rabin's decent approach. We needed actual leadership, and, now more than ever, they need a higher standard of quality. Its preposterous that one of the TWC's members would plagiarize an article, but remains true.
