The Mosquito is a classic combo that is sure to bring out the best in any tankman. They are the most feared tank on the battlefield, a role model for all. But it was not always this way. Before rebalance, the Mosquito was outlawed because of the Wasp's low HP and Railguns that could never compare to Thunders. Today they are recognized because of their speed, agility, and raw power. However, without proper skill, the Mosquito is about as useful as an M0 combo at Geronalissimo. But those who learn the true power of the Mosquito are the real tankmen in the battle.
What is a Mosquito?
For those of you who have never encountered the phrase 'Mosquito' before, it is referring to the famous combination of the Wasp and the Railgun. The reason it is called a Mosquito is because of the tank's shape when the Railgun faces backwards. With the Wasp's treads sticking out at one end looking like the legs, and the long barrel of the Railgun facing outwards as the nose, yes, it kind of does look like a Mosquito. Not only that, this particular tank also stings you pretty bad in the battlefield. :)
How To Become a Mosquito
To be a Mosquito, you can be any rank, as long as you have the Wasp and the Railgun. From Gefreighter to Warrant Officer 5 to Major General, this tank will leave its mark on others. Second of all, you need to learn how to use the Wasp's speed to your advantage. Figuring out how to do this is the most important skill as a Mosquito because ou will always be trailing other tanks in terms of HP. Third of all is learning how to use the Railgun's extreme recoil effectively. You will also need to learn how to equip several different tricks and tactics to get kills.
The Wasp
The Wasp is a light, fairly unstable hull that can best any other tank in The most important part of using the Wasp is using that tremendous speed as the advantage. This is pretty easy to learn, but it takes a while to master. The first thing you need to do is parkour. "SpiderPig?" You may ask. "This is too fun to be true! How do you actually learn to do it?" And that my friends, is specifically why becoming a true Mosquito is easy: because it is fun! Because Tanki is a game, make it fun! So, back on topic. You need to parkour on maps like Madness or Abyss in order to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of the Wasp. Find out if you are going to flip ever time you take a certain type of ramp, or if you can't land a jump from the highest point, so that when you enter a battle for real, you will know what and what not to do. You will also need to practice the peek-a-boo trick because the Wasp accelerates faster than many other hulls you used this trick with in the past. Most of all, practice with the Wasp every time you are on Tanki. After all, practice makes perfect, right?
The Railgun
Your best friend when using the Railgun is, contrary to poular belief, not the damage but the massive recoil. Because it is so powerful, you can knock any tank off balance, and that is the key to survival as a Mosquito. The Wasp has such low HP compared to other tanks, so when you knock the attacker off balance, he or she will nine out of ten times will try to shoot you and miss completely. And while they are temporarily stunned, find cover where you can reload safely. Instant XP. The recoil also needs to be tested out in parkour. This way, you can learn to jump without failing and landing upside down. Once these simple things have been mastered, you are ready for battle as a Mosquito. Don't forget, the Railgun does quite the raw damage as well.
The Right Paint
It is crucial to pick the proper paint for your Mosquito. The obvious choice is protection against the Shaft and the Railgun, because you will be most likely facing off with them during your long range battles. However, a smart tankman must always be ready for all turrets. A good choice is protection agains the Feeeze due to its popularity and the fact that most Freezes are very sneaky. Another smart choice is protection against the Smoky because of all of the new snipers that are popping up after the physics update. But it is your choice. Based on your gameplay style as a Mosquito, only you can choose the perfect paint.
Battling other Turrets
When facing off against other turrets, you must remember the three classes of turrets I mentioned in my guide to Smoky. The first is short range and does the most damage up close and personal. This class includes the Firebird, Twins, Isida, Freeze, and Ricochet. To fight this class you need to either snipe right away or attack from behind. Never fight them up close because they will never stop shooting you until you die The second is medium range and is best used for tanks in the range of five to seven tanklengths away. This class has two turrets, the Smoky and the Thunder. Because of the decrease in damage with range of these two weapons, these two are to be fought at long range. The third and final class is long range and includes the Railgun and the Shaft. These two turrets are to be equipped for sniping other tanks. This class is the only one that is okay to be engaged at close range. Because the Shaft is oblivious to its surroundings in sniping mode, the only safe way is to destroy is from behind or when it is looking away. Your own weapon, the Railgun, has an extremely slow rotation speed. All you have to do is shoot it from where it least expects it. Because that is a weakness of all Railgun users, you need to watch out for that tactic being used against you as well.
Conclusion
After analysing and learning new things, it should be clear to you that being a Mosquito is the only way to go. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you on the battlefield!
