You can make it to there with m1s. I did by using rail m1 hornet m1 so it can be done although i think you should get hornet m2 before thunder so you have 1 m2 at least.

Start saving towards Thunder m3 and Hornet or Viking m3. Hornet Thunder is a brilliant combo and you will have a major advantage over your peers at that rank.

In Love will have some rediculous sale like 90% off or something. A few birds told me it will be somewhere between 15% off to 30% off, but dont take my word.

Great pair. Hornet also works well but wasp m2 is faster, stronger (for speed) and the drift doesnt slow it down. You could use freeze as well but the damage isnt as good as fire. I use viking fire but that is to get rid of a group of enemies and most of the time i die but take 2-4 to the grave with me. Consider that an option

Ricochet goes well on short/med maps and Thunder goes well in med/long maps.
