Pfhhhhh, you've never bothered to look at the stats or try it out then. Even just using Titan would tell you that it's faster than Mammoth. At M1-M2, Titan has almost the same HP has Mammoth, but is much faster. There is NOT a single way you can make Mammoth faster than a Titan of equal modification. If anything, Titan outclasses Mammoth in most regards.

That's a terrible idea most of the time. Wasp/Hornet/Hunter- Go for these; they're 1 shot kills when fully charged. Also easy 1-2 hit kills with Railgun. Viking/Dictator- Go for these if there's not many light hulls around. 1 fully charged shot + 1 arcade shot = kill. Easy 2 shot kills with Railgun (if you have rail protective paint + dictator, you can take 3) Titan/Mammoth- I would not recommend going for these unless you need to or if they're in combat. Both take about 2 fully charged shots to kill, and that takes a while. If they're drugging, GG, don't bother engaging these guys. Railgun is also somewhat weak against these guys.

Just got M1 Titan today. I like it a lot; it's like a Mammoth that's permanently on Nitro. Great for pushing people, and I'm not seeing too much of a difference in durability compared to Mammoth. What turret goes best with it (besides Shaft)? Twins? Smoky?

Eh, Shaft is extremely efficient at sniping, so I usually end up taking more of the battle fund, and therefore get about the same/higher amount of money.

I'm getting the issue too. I'm not getting the quest/puzzle video either, so I can't do anything. I've logged into game.tankionline.com, and it just shows me a box to enter the keyword in. Absolutely nothing else to give clues. EDIT: I think I've figured it out.

MU'ing paints isn't a good investment in money in my opinion, but it does help out. There aren't many paints with railgun protection at the relatively early ranks, I guess. I like to micro upgrade the first level or two on my M0 hulls to get a bit of an edge over other tankers. It's pretty darn cheap and pays off pretty quickly. Upgrade M0 Hunter's health a few (I think 3) levels and you can survive (barely, but still) a M0 Shaft. I've upgraded my Railgun to one-shot M0 Wasps at close range. I think that you should micro upgrade if you need an edge over your opponents, but don't go overboard.

It's a great combo if you can flank or ambush your enemies. I use Smoky + Hornet, but that's because I find that Wasp is weak in head-on combat, which I often seem to be getting into. Wasp is the best hull to circle strafe (drive around and shoot) your target with, so it's really annoying if you know what you're doing.

Just bought M1 Smoky at half price. I love it.

Hunter has better vanilla stats than Viking from M1 onwards, so it's a lot better right out of the box. Even ignoring the (inconsequential at higher ranks) 25 health advantage, Hunter is faster, more stable, and easier to handle. I'd say Hunter wins in the long run, since the only thing Viking has above it is a little health. If you want more health than Hunter, use Dictator, since you at least get a more noticeable health advantage.

Hornet has noticeably more HP than Wasp. It may not seem like much, but it really helps when you're pelted by Rico or Thunder shots. It takes 2 (minorly MU'ed) M0 Thunder shots at close range to kill a Wasp, while it takes 3 to kill a Hornet. That extra shot needed to kill you can be the difference from being blown up and getting a kill. I have both Hornet and Wasp, and in my experience, Hornet doesn't flip as often. That said, I do like Wasp; it's just that Hornet is better in certain situations. Also, yes, Wasp and Viking can be taken out by two rail shots, but after a single hit, Wasp has close to no health. A single Rico or a burst of Twins fire can kill you. On the other hand, a hit taken by Viking will leave you with some health to spare (at least from what I can tell; I don't have Viking in my garage), which also will determine if you survive or not. Besides, Railgun isn't the best measure of damage here; it takes the same number of nuclear missiles to destroy a house as it does a dog. If you were to compare their durabilities to, say, Twins, you'd see a vast difference. I don't really see the point of using Viking in this situation, though, since Dictator with Forester can survive 3 vanilla M0 Railgun shots.

Looks like you ranked! Congrats! Anyway, I'm saving up for the 50% turret sale on Wednesday. I currently have 9678 crystals, the last time I checked, and I'm eyeing M1 Smoky, M1 Titan and/or M1 Firebird. I'm interested in Smoky now, since I was absolutely pwned by a skilled Smoky-hornet user a while back. I did the math, and I actually can afford all those three on Wednesday. The only issue is that I would like to have M1 Shaft at some point, and I'm not going to get enough money to buy it during the sale unless I drop Smoky and Firebird (or get 3 boosted gold boxes). Thoughts?

Shaft is good enough for now in my opinion. If you don't like to camp/find camping too hard, use Railgun. Shaft was meant for hardcore snipers. Speaking of sniping, here's a quick rundown on Shaft combinations. Wasp-Shaft: Very uncommon, somewhat hazardous to use. Very light sniper combo. Hornet-Shaft: Relatively common, highly mobile, not that hazardous to use, but weak at close range. Medium-light sniper combo. Hunter/Viking/Dictator-Shaft: Also quite common, medium combo for people who like to camp more. Titan/Mammoth-Shaft: Somewhat uncommon, heavy combo for hardcore campers. Gives you the upper hand against other Shafters.

I've just purchased Isida, and I have to say, I love it. The healing is very useful in team battles. I love the self-heal, though. If you're fighting inexperienced players who don't really know how to utilize their turret, you can circle strafe while leeching their health out. If you see a flipped tank (common on Esplanade or Madness), it's normally something to ignore if you have higher priorities, but Isida turns those beached whales into a source of delicious blood free health. It's a little bloodsucking leech that heals you, damages enemies, and heals teammates; what's not to like?

I disagree. Mammoth has a little bit more health, but noticeably less speed. Titan's higher speed allows it to preserve more of its health, since you won't be caught in the open for very long. Mammoth is only better than Titan if you want to be soaking up damage 24/7, and let's face it, nobody wants to be in that situation. I tried M3 Titan in the test server, and I was very satisfied with it. I'd say it's more useful than Mammoth. It's also more stable (more bottom surface area) and less likely to be flipped due to its shape.

Smoky-Hornet is a surprisingly good combo, at least at lower ranks. You can easily circle-strafe most targets, and it'll be hard for them to get you in their aim if you use Smoky's knockback correctly. Wasp works well too, but a lucky shot or two from you opponent will destroy you, so I prefer Hornet. Smoky's nice since it's basically forcing your enemy to play Russian Roulette. Each shot from a Smoky could potentially be deadly (to lighter tanks at least), and the more times you're not hit by a critical, the more likely you'll be killed by the next one. At M2/M3, heck, the probability of getting a crit is pretty close to 1/6 !

I agree here. I only use my Shaft-Mammoth combo if my teammates are doing a good job of not letting enemies too close to the base and/or there are a lot of enemy Shafts around. Shaft-Dictator is relatively fast and has enough armor for most situations, so that's my main combo.

I'm tempted to buy Isida to level up faster (I'm just over the halfway mark, my next rank will be Sergeant Major), but I'm also tempted to wait for the June 4th sale (might be 50% if we're lucky). I might not reach Sergeant Major at June 4th without the Isida healing XP, but if I do get it, I might not be able to get M1 Shaft. Any ideas?

After playing around in the Test Server (there was open testing earlier today), I think the best looking tank combo is M3 Isida + M3 Hunter + Sandstone paint. The shapes all complement each other, and the nice warm tones of Sandstone make it look really nice. That combo also seems to work well in gameplay as well. Hunter can take a bit of punishment if you're under fire while healing teammates, and it's speedy enough to (usually) deal with enemy tanks and get to damaged teammates decently quickly. Isida's self repair helps keep Hunter alive as well.

Is the test server closed now? I can't seem to get in.

I really like the new modifications for CP mode. Since teams will spawn on their own sides, I don't have to worry about a full health Mammoth spawning at a point I'm in the middle of capturing. It also lets you stick with your teammates more, since you'll have a more centralized spawn. I'd support this new CP mode for being pushed into the main servers. I don't like the new Silence. The extra stuff adds lag, so even if it looks better, it's not worth it in my opinion. Still nice and pretty though. Thanks for letting us use the test server! It's really fun to test-drive the M3 tanks and M3 turrets. I am now a dedicated Isida fan, and I love Titan M3. I'm already grateful for being let into the test server just this once, but I think that maybe having an event once every now and then that lets players into the test server would be absolutely amazing. Again, thanks for this wondeful opportunity.

I can't log in; it gives me the "incorrect password" notification. Is there a rank restriction or something?
-
I don't think it looks like a shoe to me. I think it's the best looking M3 hull, tied with Hornet.
-
That's why I wouldn't recommend using Wasp with Thunder. If you're in a close range fight, you're going to kill yourself before you kill your enemy. I use Thunder with either Hornet (if I need to cover a lot of ground) or Dictator (if I need to midfield for a while). Dictator can take a good amount of punishment, so I don't have to worry too much about self damage.

My best guess is that fact that most people look down on it and consider Viking superior. Hunter is the starting tank, after all. Most people (including me for a while) went through this line of thought. ->There doesn't seem to be anything special with Hunter, it's the starting tank. ->Oooh, look, Wasp is a lot faster! I don't really care about the low health!/ Oooh, look, Titan is so much stronger! I don't really care about the low speed! ->Wow, Hornet has more health than Wasp but is still fast!/Wow, Mammoth is even stronger than Titan/Wow, Viking looks like a great tank, so many people use it! Most people forget about Hunter. For most intents and purposes, Hornet or Viking is more common, although for the most part Hunter is superior to Viking. I personally use Hunter along with Rico, or sometimes with Smoky/Rail if my Hornet is taking a lot of punishment.
-
Hunter's a great general purpose tank. It's better than Wasp or Hornet in a straight up fight, and although it's not quite as good for capping flags or harassing people, it's the best tank to use if you're not sure what role you're going to be playing in a match.
