One of those fine chaps was me. Although I was gunning for the Medium m2 kit. (See what I did there?)

I agree that you often don't have time to react to the laser. I've been in several battles with and without shaft. When I am using shaft, I find that even if my laser is on someone for a decent period of time, they aren't able to get away from my shot, or they hardly react. Which gives me the kill. I feel that the removal of the shaking has greatly contributed to this, as I don't have to worry about my shot bouncing off target. This makes for faster target acquisition and elimination. When I'm not using shaft, I find that it is hard to get away from the laser. It is also somewhat stressful. Like others have mentioned, you see it coming, but there isn't anything you can do except brace for impact and hope it doesn't kill you.

But the majority of shaft users don't use wasp.
-
I would say Rico requires more coordination and accuracy, especially when bouncing the plasma balls around corners to hit a potentially unseen target.
-
I would go with bulky. Because its taller than viking, you get the impression that it's fatter.

One of my favorite tactics on an under populated map is having an arcade shot battle with my enemies. We move around for a bit, and shoot whenever we can. When the time is right, I quickly drop into scope mode for the extra damage. Requires no stealth in the slightest.

I know how hard it is to aim with rail at long range. I've used it on my alts, and I've seen it in action with more experienced players. I've seen them miss while I'm out in the open, and I've seen them hit while I'm covered.I don't actually expect railgun to have a laser. That was more of a figure of speech. I know that the shot acts as a laser that points to where the tank is. But there is one key difference. Railgun can move while its shot is pointing to where it was. Shaft cannot.

Time to put these in action. Wonder what my D/L will look like now.

You are used to playing lower ranks, who definitely most likely do not have the skill of a more skilled tanker. At that rank, I see loads of noob shafts. I do have another turret to help with getting XP. And a lot of it. I was referring to the fact that for the longest time, I had a shaft centered garage because using shaft was extremely useful/profitable/whatever. This is my only account that I spend a significant amount of time using shaft on, if that means anything to you. Also, since you brought up Starladder, why aren't ricochet thunder, and any turret that isn't rail or smoky allowed in the competition? I would argue that they are DEFINITELY part of dynamic gameplay. @Tankimedic: I am a very enthusiastic person. ;)

not to mention if you`re in scope when they catch you. Having to drop out of scope mode gives them more time to kill you. you`re almost a sitting duck. My 500th post. Yay

valid points. You really did your research. Though rail-gun can actually shoot through narrow gaps, and at long-range, I would say its Auto-Aim works a whole lot better than shafts arcade shot Auto-Aim. Also, shafts scope does not grant full 360 degree firing up and down. While it does help because you can adjust your aim with more accuracy, I believe that is has roughly the same firing angle as any other turret. As another thought, there are ways to get around the height issue when firing. To summarize some of the numerous aiming and shooting guides scattered about the forum, If you move your tank back and forth, it can grant you greater firing angles, both up and down. This is something that a shaft does not have in scope mode, because the tanker cannot move at that time. If you really do have a problem with rail`s auto aim, i recommend you look for one of the aiming guides. There`s one on the wiki. For the record, I don`t consider you a noob, because you obviously learned a lot on you way to WO2. While you may be relatively inexperienced in terms of tactics or skill, you know enough to be extremely good.

As funny as your post is, you neglected to mention another of Tanki's long-range sniping turrets. Railgun. It doesn't have a laser on it, yet it is perfectly capable of taking a nice hunk out of your health. You can get sniped with out seeing the railgun. Why should shaft be any different? I'm not going to add more reasons, since I've already mentioned them. Check my other posts if you want anything answered about this update.

That is in fact a Dillon Aero Gatling gun. Though a nickname for it is the chaingun.(Look it up) http://www.ahctv.com/tv-shows/ultimate-weapons/videos/ultimate-weapons-dillon-aero-gatling-gun.htm

While you may be right about it not totally destroying shaft, I have to point out that it does make killing others a lot harder than with any other weapon. In the V-Log, Semyon said that you never know when a shaft will kill you. This is true, but I want to know why just shaft. Why not any other weapon? You never know when a rail will kill you if you don't see it. Why doesn't rail get a laser? Or thunder for that matter? Also, I am a pretty good shot IRL. ;)

Or new protections on existing paints

I totally agree with you. This update would come at a severe disadvantage to shaft users. It would completely ruin shaft as a turret, and make it a joke. Shaft is a sniper, not some cheesy laser pointer. I'm not entirely sure what the devs were going for when they thought of this laser idea, but honestly, it needs to be modified before being implemented. If it is implemented, I agree that cry should be returned to those who spent their entire career sniping. I'd wager that I've spent at LEAST 150k on shaft. And because of the nature of the turret, I earn a low amount of crystals compared to a non-sniper, as well as less XP. If this laser is added, the score and kills that I might normally get will disappear. Everyone will avoid the beam, and make it impossible for shafts to get kills. I love shaft, and would hate to see it nerfed in this manner. I made just about made every single rank using shaft. My garage I centered on shaft. For people like me, this update would utterly destroy us.

Woah. Crazy plot twist in there. Nice job.
-
So many shaft haters. :( Personally, I'd say freeze. I hate going for flags, and getting wrecked by three or four freezes camping in the base.
-
I like Brest. I play on it with one of my alts with rail. Though my all time favorites for sniping are: Highland, stadium, and silence.
-
Sounds lovely. *begins crying because of envy and jealousy.* My type of map.
-
Lol. How? Any way, I was thinking about getting twins m2. Problem is, I can't decide between Rico or twins. Or thunder m3 if I get the rank in time for the holidays.
-
Lol. I wish I knew what you meant. My computer hates Lost Temple.
-
LOL. If I try, I may be able to get thunder m3 at Christmas. :D can't wait.
-
I would guess in about a month. The devs have to finalize the design, and get the name for the gun. They also have to open up testing to see how it performs in combat. So I guess it would be in a month at the earliest.

I agree totally^ Can I see some feedback on the shaft update? I like the idea, but it seems a little unfair to shafters. Maybe something like this:
