Corrosion, Part 1: A small tank drives across the expanses of the English shoreline. In the distance, all that is seen is a small cloud of sand that is kicked up from its’ tracks. Nobody paid it any attention, they had their work to do, and they were more important than anything else that could be thought of, arrogant first world countries. The tank comes to a halt. The top latch is opened, and a young adult steps out. He is in his mid twenties, graduated college three years ago with a masters in architectural engineering. Four years before that, he graduated with a demolition engineering degree. He is widely considered to be the best in his business, all of his competitors seemed to have accidents happen to them. Be it bridges or bullets, many found their graves sooner than they imagined. He climbed out of the tank, shivering, it was a cold, cold night, below 0 Celsius. He jumped out of the tank, wishing he had brought a coat, and walked the rest of the way. He was given very specific directions, drive your tank to Ballard cliff, then walk the next 2 Kilometers by foot. A hail soon began to fall on him. He pulled his hood over his head, trying to protect himself, and the papers. It was a cold walk, the beach was icy, he slipped every now and then, but continued to stumble along, knowing that should he not make it on time, he was fired, literally. A voice came from the dense shadows of the overhang, calling his name. ¨John, get you bloody rear end in here right now.¨ With a sigh, John walked under the overhang, knowing full well what might happen. ¨Inspect him, see if he has any tracers on him, we can’t be too careful here.¨ the man said. John lifted up his arms, was patted down by the big, muscled brutes standing next to the man. John gives the man the papers. The man looks at the papers John gave John a look that could have caused a lion to whimper. ¨I am very disappointed in you John, that dam was supposed to blow, not shudder a little bit. That disappointment almost just killed you, do you understand, DO YOU?" He punches John in the face, John would have a black eye for a good week afterwards. ¨Yes, sir, I do¨ ¨It seems like you have a chance to redeem yourself, do you want to take it?¨ ¨Sir yes sir.¨ The man hands John a new set of papers. He tells him to not fail him, and he walks away, leaving John with the papers. He opens up the folder that holds the papers, looks them over, then smiles to himself. Gonna have some fun with this one, he thought. He walks away, back to his tank to drive home. To be continued.
