Pdox's and D4T's Opinion Column: Tanki Online

Tanki Online, a 3D MMO Action game, was released on June 4th, 2009. It quickly made headlines when it got the ‘Best Game without a Publisher’ and ‘Best Technology’ award at KRI 2009. It also has won the Runet prize not only once, but twice in 2013 and 2014. The smash-hit game wasn’t going to stop there of course! The developers were determined to make Tanki Online the best online game of its kind. Since then, Tanki Online has come far. The V-LOGs were definitely one of the most exciting updates to the game. The new graphics, the dreaded ‘Update 123’ - a.k.a the Rebalance, really pushed the game to its limits and to be honest, the developers actually deserve more attention and respect than they receive now. The Forum The Tanki Online Forum is easily one of the best, if not, THE BEST forums on the internet. The other forums are, like, inverted colors of either black and white and it is really difficult to understand a post let alone seeing who made the post. The blackish-gray theme of the Forum looks amazing and emulsifies into the background - the same one as the Homepage - beautifully. Unlike other forums, which usually contain update news, solutions to various problem and forum games threads; this Forum contains the updates along nearly every kind threads in which the community can come together and discuss, debate and become friends. It also contains all sorts of topics in which you can share your own feelings, ideas, and photos which is a good thing. It brings the community closer together, resulting in, more friends. Examples? The Real Photo thread, Gold Boxes!, Photo of the Day, Congratulatory Post, Pray for our world and many alike. I mean I can’t even count… THEN, we have the Forum Games. Easily the best thread ever made. The Wiki The Tanki Online Wiki is the ultimate source of information for every tanker. Discover lots of interesting facts and get advice from experienced players. Wiki editors are working day and night watching over the wiki, editing articles, writing new articles, especially map guides, for now. The Wiki’s background is same as the homepage, and the theme is again, grey and black. At the Main page of the Wiki, we have a grey text box in which the prizes awarded to Tanki Online are listed. Beneath this text box, there are several different links that take us to the more, both, basic and complicated areas of the game. For a beginner, visiting the Game Mechanics and Guides thread will be worthwhile, while for a professional, learning about eSports and taking part in them suits them. Creativity league is also an option of tankers whose minds are full of creativity! The Help Site The Help Site is indeed very helpful. Dozens, if not, hundreds of players visit it everyday. It is packed with a lot of useful helpful answers, such as reducing lag, reporting players, forum tags et cetera; which are more than useful for newbies and experienced players alike. Consultants take great care to deliver the most appropriate answers to the questions being asked. So if you ever got a question regarding any area of the game, ro to the Help Site. The Help Site is currently powered by UserEcho. UserEcho gives you the opportunity to create a modern Community to support customers in a few minutes. It includes support forum with the possibility of voting for ideas, Helpdesk, Knowledge Base and Online Chat. Ratings and Statistics - CRY, GLD, EXP Ratings and Statistics. This long-awaited component of the game isn’t that old at all; it was launched on 28th October, 2015. The Ratings page also has the similar background as the Homepage. By going to it, you can see three different columns. One for the EXP earned ratings, one for the CRY ratings and one for the GLD ratings, which was also responsible for the removal of the Gold Hunter of the week segment in the V-LOG. In the ratings page, we can literally see every kind of nicknames. Whether it be super weird: Or a show of your Russian skills: (Hy6 nicknames k) O-ooor a perfect demonstration of your grammar: (pretty sure it's 'Lamborghini') Another thing in the Statistics is your Achievements. Now, some of these are super easy. Use 100, or 1000 supplies. Note the drug reference here. While some of them are incredibly hard, like getting the Veteran, Champion or the Gladiator paint. For now, you don’t get any prize for achieving something, but honestly, a crystal or heck, a drug reward would be pretty nice. The Homepage Tanki Online has an incredible home page. The background picture is perfectly fitting in with the huge YouTube link which showcases the V-LOGs and other important announcements and of course the green ‘PLAY’ button which takes you to the respective laggy servers based on your rank. Underneath the ‘PLAY’ button, a text box shows the approximation of how many players are online at the moment, which is a good thing; since one can decide when to play to have the most people on. The logo of Tanki Online has been cleverly designed and shows a Railgun-Hunter, meaning this game is not for the faint-hearted! The Smoky-Dictator in the background has been perfectly edited so that it ‘fits’ in with all the components of this incredible homepage. At the top we have different links which take us to their respective components of the game. Want to make friends? The Forum. Some research? The Wiki. KFC ran out of chicken? Encountering a problem? The Help Site. Adjacent to these links, we have the region selector. Underneath the YouTube link, there are some more links which showcase the latest headlines, upcoming celebrations, helper of the month, et cetera. In conclusion, the homepage of Tanki Online is surely one of the most intuitive homepages of the other online games out there. The ‘Dedicated to Service’ - CM, Administration, Staff Tanki Online is a very popular social game. Volunteers who want to help the project can do it by applying to be part of the staff - several teams of motivated tankers - willing to help newcomers, entertain players and make sure everyone has acceptable behaviour. These players can be recognized by their special paint, avatars or chat symbols. His highness Cedric Debono replaced Semyon Kirov as the new EN community manager sometime this month. People still hate the absence of Semyon and go like ‘I miss Semyon ;( <3’ in News and Announcements’ section. The point is, instead of showing respect and love to the new CM, people still whimper over the leave of Semyon. Show some respect to Cedric peeps, you - heck, we - don’t know how much he has planned for us. The current Administration is very hard-working and efficient. They keep the game running. Without those guys, Tanki Online would’ve collapsed, exception of Goldi here k  Now, 8-10 admins can’t take care of the whole game now do they? That brings us to our final word in this section, Staff. Personally, we think that every Staff member was delicately chosen. Every staff member is taking his job seriously. I think that Reporter and Chat Moderator are the hardest jobs in Tanki. Writing an article which is both visually appealing and holds the reader at the edge of their seat seems easy, but no, it isn’t. This article is pro k. Similarly, dealing with soo many violators and reading the Rules once every week is hard too. Good job Staff, keep it up! The Lobby The lobby chat is filled with players chatting and having fun together. It is also filled with bans sometimes, xaxa. The battle list contains all of the battles playable at your rank. Basically, the battles that you can enter you can see, however when someone gives you a link to a battle that is unavailable at your rank, you will see it highlighted in grey. Don’t wanna see WOs playing with Marshals now do you? The ‘Create Battle’ interface is easy to use. Just need to click in some buttons and stuff, but, new modes could definitely make the game more interesting to play. Parkour battles are definitely the most intriguing and hilarious battles. Every once in a while, someone fails miserably and if you are lucky enough, your fail is edited with a sad song and posted in YouTube. The Garage - Hulls, Turrets, Paints, Special items The garage consists of all the stuff that a tanker can buy in his career. Well, not all, for example buying a premium account gives you an advantage to buy other items that a normal non-premium user can’t buy. We have 7 different hulls in Tanki - Wasp, Hornet, Hunter, Viking, Dictator, Titan and Mammoth. Hornet be the best k. Nothing can beat Hornet. BP users go cri pls. There are 11 different turrets in Tanki - Firebird, Freeze, Hammer, Isida, Smoky, Twins, Railgun, Shaft, Thunder, Vulcan and Ricochet. The most overpowered turrets are probably Isida, Vulcan and Rico. All, when used with Double Power, are incredibly deadly. In the past, Isida used to be much more overpowered. It could heal itself just by pressing Space Bar button, even if it was not attacking another tank, and its option to heal teammates additionally, but developers decided to remove that option to heal itself. Railgun be beast k. We personally think that XP is the best combo EVER made. Genius! The guy who invented it is an absolute HOT GENIUS! There are currently over 115 different paints that tanker can buy/get. All of them are clearly distinct from one another and some of them look impressive. Zeus, Graffiti, Rock and Nano look amazing when used with XTs. Then comes a relatively new addition, Gifts. Many people abused their use when they came out, but now, they have seemed to calm down. Hmm, seeing what I wrote above, Tangled Turret is the best. Blue Sphere is also a great gift to send to someone, if you have 100k crystals to spare. The Maps - Large, Medium and Small There are 64 maps in total - large, medium and small ones. The current maps have been greatly designed to make sure there is balance between both the teams. Aleksandrovsk is the recent map to appear in Tanki — on December 24, 2014. The biggest map is Lost Temple, then Berlin and then Dusseldorf - laggy maps for most people. Laggers k. The smallest one doesn’t even have CTF and CP mode. It’s so tiny, you can go around it in less than 5 seconds. Of course, Duel. The Gameplay - Graphics, Violators The Gameplay of Tanki Online is both visually and interactively stunning. Although the Game is built on Flash, the graphics and the interactive terminal look and I am pretty sure, feel modern as well. I think Sir Darren probably also agrees because at the moment, he’s fast asleep. There are a lot of graphics option for Tanki. Many of them require a very strong GPU but for those who don’t have it, turning on ‘Automatic Graphics Quality’ or ‘Dust’, ‘Dynamic Lighting’ and ‘Fog’ also provides a great gameplay. But of course, every game has its violators and so does Tanki. Before the anti-cheat improvement update, there was a hacker in every 1 out of 5 battles. Developers don’t want those nugs to steal your Golds, now do they? The Ranks There are 30 ranks in Tanki Online. The first rank is Recruit, and the last one is Generalissimo. Create your journey, depending on the route you take, from Recruit to Generalissimo. It takes around 1-2 years for a tanker who plays everyday for over 2-3 hours to reach Generalissimo. But of course, there are those players who no-life, and one of them set the record for the fastest time to reach Generalissimo - an impressive 28 days. (Them, no-lifers, k) Many tankers hope and want new ranks in Tanki Online. We hope there will be like 10 more new ranks after Tanki X releases. They will surely make the game more addicting and interesting once again ;) Long read huh? :D This is, once again, D4T and PDoX, out. Other articles in this series: The Wiki
