"No-kill" rule during gold box drop

This is mostly for the people who moderate/manage/edit the Forum - I created a poll to go with this topic. Any idea where it went to? Thanks (I ended up re-writing the poll, and it seems to work, but I'd still like to know what happened to the original.)

"No-kill" rule during gold box drop

I must admit I used that technique to great effect when I got the "special" mission on 31 Oct 2015, and had to rack up 300 DM kills in one night (I don't like DM...).

"No-kill" rule during gold box drop

When the gold box warning goes off, it's often accompanied by a chorus of "no kill"s in battle chat. In my experience, few players seem to respect this supposed "no-kill during gold box drop" rule. On the other hand, I've had players complain bitterly if I shoot them during this most sensitive time. So, I'm turning to you, my fellow Forum members, for your opinions and insights regarding this Tanki hot-potato. Please respond to the poll, and comments are welcome. T(h)anks, LTC Zev_Merkava (As of this writing I've grabbed a whopping total of eleven gold boxes. Go ahead, laugh. It's good for your health. :))
  6. 11) After a bit of a dry spell, I got a gold box today. Yippee! Magistral CP. Using my M0 Thunder (I try to drag my noob weapons out of the garage once in a while so they don't rust...) on M2 Hunter, with Tundra paint (or maybe Storm?). Saw it falling out of the sky from a distance, drove over, and it was already on the ground. Maybe one or two other tanks going for it, but I got there first. And, as usual, I didn't have the presence of mind to look at my crystal count before to verify that Tanki actually gave me the 1000 crystals - but I did see my name at the top of the screen, so I'm happy... :) Lieutenant Colonel Zev_Merkava, Mon., 25 Jan 2016 20:35 IST

[Issue 46] [Story] Momma Waited 'Til the End

Looks like I still have a bit to learn about using this system... When I wrote my reply, I hit the quote button for lack of a simple "reply" option in the main article, and it gave me the whole works, and I added my comments. Sorry, I didn't know that I was supposed to trim away anything I wasn't directly replying to (now that I've looked more closely, I see that I had the option of going to the end of the comments and adding my own without quoting... pardon the brain lapse...). I didn't know that other people can edit my posts - I hope that's only "press", and not ordinary users (apparently, a press pass gets you more than just a special paint...). OK, lesson learned... I'll try not to let it happen again.

Tanki Online Quest - N°10 - Searching Group

You went to a hospital to sleep? Strange - with all the beeping monitors, other patients, and whatever else that goes on in a hospital 24/7 (including nurses waking you up to take your sleeping pills...), it can be pretty tough to sleep in a hospital. Unless they drug you up like a noob... :)

Tanki Online Quest - N°10 - Searching Group

T(h)anks for showing how to get there, and for explaining why pro pass was needed - I never got past the self-destruct line. :) (Maybe it was a bit unfair of them to require buying a pro pass to find the URL?)

[Issue 46] [Story] Momma Waited 'Til the End

At least now I have some idea of what those rusting hulks that get in my way on some maps are all about. In memory of the crews. LTC Zev_Merkava

Best wishes for a complete and quick recovery (or, as they say around here, רפואה שלימה (pronounced: refuah shelayma)). :)

Episode 72 of the V-LOG is here!

Hi - I clicked on the link but Internet Exploder lost it - how do I get it again in time to take the quiz and get the 2000 crystals? T(h)anks!

Episode 72 of the V-LOG is here!

I tried to log in again, but it doesn't show the link.
  14. 10) Picked up yet another one today - I think it's the first one that counts for the new stats/profile system. Polygon. Don't remember if it was CTF or CP. Isida M2 on Hornet M2, and my usual plain green paint. Apparently, the box had fallen onto a pile of dead tanks, and was just sitting there. I pushed my way into the pile, along with everyone else who was still alive, and got the box! :) Captain Zev_Merkava, Mon., 23 Nov 2015 19:28 IST
  15. And then there's always the accidental rankup... Here I was, a First Lieutenant, close to ranking up, and my computer crashed... so I had to reload a lot of software, including my video capture program (HyperCam, if you're curious...). So, everything's ready, I even tested HyperCam just to make sure it was working, and I joined a battle with about 400 xp to go. I figured I would turn the video capture on when I had about 50 points to go (hey, I'm not going to use all my hard disk space for rank-up videos). The battle was going great - I was capturing flags, clobbering the enemy, and helping my teammates with Isida. The next thing I know, I have an extra diamond in my insignia, and I'm 10,000 crystals richer. Oh, well... On the other hand, my computer crashed again a short time later, so it's likely I would have lost the video, anyway. C'est la guerre... Captain (as of this writing...) Zev_Merkava :)

    Personal Stats, Ratings & Achievements

Having stats is nice. Having them exposed to the entire world with no control on my part is a bit creepy. Anyone familiar with the worlds of cryptography and espionage knows that the slightest bit of information can be used against someone. Here, on Tanki, the users of that information could be hackers (the bad kind...) and bullies. The victims could be little kids. If the folks in Perm don't provide us with some control over this information, we should all start hoping and praying that this doesn't lead to tears (or worse...). Dismounting soapbox...
  17. I think that under the new pricing rules, you don't have to buy the M1 first if you qualify for the M2- the garage doesn't even give you the opportunity to buy the M1, which can be a bit annoying if you want to improve on an M0, but don't want to blow a whole wad on an M2.
  18. 9) I picked up another one today, on Island. 3 vs. 3, M2 Isida on M1 Viking (I think... it was a few hours ago...). Just joined the shoving match - I thought someone else was going to get it, but my name showed up at the top of the screen. :) Considering the fierce competition for gold boxes, I'm amazed at the players who get Gold Box Hunter of the Week in the vlog - something like 50 gold boxes in one week!
  19. 8) On Island, one-on-one. We had managed to destroy each other after the 30-second warning, and I respawned first, but the other guy did magage to give me a fight before I grabbed it.
  20. An update... 5) I don't remember details, but I just joined the pile-up of everyone else trying for the gold, and ended up on top. 6) In Rio, on the elevated part away from the beach, I saw the gold box symbol appear, with no one else around, so I just waited and grabbed it. 7) Today (9 sep 2015 - IDAD (International Date Agreement Day - ask me about it via PM in the Forum :) )) Polygon CP. Just kept pushing my Hornet M1 Isida M1 into the crowd, and somehow was awarded the box. No, I don't expect too many people to be interested, but it's a way for me to keep a record of my golds... :)
  21. Again, had I meant insane, I would have written insane. :) And again, it turns out that it would have worked out either way - substituting "insane" for "inane" wouldn't have changed the meaning too much. I'm just glad that people read what I write, and care enough to comment. Thanks to all of you. (And I'd really like to see that article about the real physics modeling that propels Tanki... The game, after all, is a physics modeling engine, and some of us (OK, maybe just one of us...) are interested in how it works. I know it's a tall order, but i would appreciate it.)
  22. I gave you an "uptick" vote just on the strength of your nickname (I'm an incorrigible punster - please don't incorrige)! An electron and a positron annihilating each other should give about a million electron volts - somewhere around 300,000 photons of visible light, and a dark-adjusted human eye can notice flashes of as little as 5 photons. A tank and an anti-tank would probably glow like the sun for a few seconds. (Too lazy to get out the old slide rule for a more precise assessment...) Thanks! :)
  23. No problem - I was having fun with you, and writing in the spirit of your article and the other comments (hence the smiley after the Peanuts paraphrase... :) ) Thanks again for the article. (Might I suggest one that describes the ACTUAL physics simulation that makes this game so much fun to play? It may not be as funny, but some of us are interested, and it might encourage some of the younger players (which is most of the Tanki crowd) to look into the sciences, and maybe even make a career out of them.)
  24. On the other hand, if the battle ends more quickly, you can play another one sooner, so the points and/or crystals earned per time remains about the same - you just get "paid" smaller amounts, more frequently. :)
  25. Looks like they're trying to reinstate the "mercy" battle limits that were abandoned about the time I joined the game (somewhere around November 2014). This could be a good idea, but it would have been nice if they had told us about it before implementing it, so that they could consider our comments first, rather than just imposing the changes on us with little or no warning. For example, Scorpenstein's comment (somewhere around #18) about adjusting the limits according to map size seems quite sensible.
