It is a know bug, players usually receive their crystals upon reloading the game or during a server restart.

I don't have access to the kill counter and the two times I've participated in these types of contests I've found it to be working perfectly. If the counter wasn't working correctly there would be far more players complaining, with the amount of players complaining now it could easily be blamed on human error. I'm not saying that the counter is working perfectly, I'm just presenting to you why I think it is working correctly.
