40 degrees centigrade isn't overheating, around 70 is the point where an old CPU would throttle. Are you sure there's nothing else wrong with the computer? As overheating is just one of the things the buzzer would sound for. As you said, if its 10 years old you're best off replacing it anyway. So long as all the fans and vents are clear no more cleaning should be needed. Do you know the average temperature of the CPU before the beeping started?

[Issue 58] [Contest] Map Renaissance Campaign - November

What a pity :( -
The beeping is caused by an internal warning buzzer on your motherboard. When CPUs or GPUs overheat they go through a process called 'Thermal throttling' which essentially reduces the power of the CPU in an effort to cool itself down. Make sure none of your fans are covered in dust and are spinning freely. You may have to replace your CPU cooling fan.

Fantastic article, well written just like all the other handbooks. Exept for one thing. "Can't change to Dictator before the Goldbox" drops... :ahem: I change regardless. -

Where you shoot the enemy doesn't matter. The only things which affect damage are distance, penetrative shots and double power supplies. Also remember that Railgun operates on a variable damage graph which means damage can vary even if the distance doesn't.

Same as Beaku TBH.
