Updates: The Loved & Hated
It could be called an exaggeration but there have been no less one million updates to Tanki Online. Perhaps unsurprisingly not all can be called excellent - by the community's standards. Nonetheless, there have been many loved and hated updates and in this article I shall attempt to cover the more dynamic of the two sides. I say attempt as much of this is a matter of opinion. Anyways, I'm a positive person so I'll start with the loved and cherished ones then proceed to the hated and despised.

The Loved: ONE Friends system. I think the universal standard of the best update to TO is the friend system. I mean, can you possibly imagine a Tanki Online without Godmode_On being on every request list? Or not having the trusted people who you can rely on? It may require your most powerful imagination skills but before said update, both of these didn't exist. Although the friends system ranks as the most loved update, when it first arrived not everybody loved it. Some expressed concerns about 'stalking' and although that is a minute problem, it hasn't hampered it's long term popularity or benefits. Imagine, Tanki removes the friends system "due to stalking" ever single tanker would be up in arms about it. TWO Daily missions. The Daily Missions update was a long awaited one, and is possibly the best received update of all time. Upon visiting the topic, one can't read any negative comments. Unsurprisingly too, daily missions are basically free crystals. Being paid to pick up 10 speed boosts is... well, who would say no? One tanker even asked for a time machine to speed up the update. Now there's an idea. THREE Format battles. Let me set your powerful imagination skills off again. Can you imagine going to the huge effort to get a Wasp on the Rio Skyscraper only to self destruct? Logically this would have never happened, but I guarantee, that if it wasn't for parkour battles it would. The format battle update also included XP/BP specific battles, the most popular format in the game. A forumer mentioned that it was a "god update", I'd put that down as a Type-O though, wouldn't you? FOUR Changing equipment in battle. You know that picture thingy that used to pop up while your battle was loading? It told you that you could change equipment in battle. Well, if you joined TO when I did you'd have wondered why such an obvious thing was supposed to be a tip. I certainly did. The reason was that before this loved update it wasn't possible to change equipment during a battle, you had to leave. Only for a second time here, no negative comments can be found! It may be an update that's taken for granted, but next time you change equipment, just think of it will you?

Sadly there are always negatives in this world. Similarly, there have been and are many negative updates in Tanki Online. Behold the most hated and despised updates of all time!

ONE The original re-balance. I had quite a hard time searching for a HATED and DESPISED update, that's until AWC'ers sent me to the forum topic surrounding the original re-balance. Like, everybody hated it. Mainly because it removed some equipment from you garage and replaced them with crystals. Before then you could have had some M3 equipment at Warrant Officer 5! The 'only' thing good which came out of the update was three new ranks, Field Marshal, Commander and Generalissimo. I'm pretty sure I'd have hated the update as well, though looking back; I can laugh at the people who suffered. :thinks of upcoming re-balance: :faints: TWO Experimental camera speed. Tanki Online - your favorite game- makes you unhealthy? No, I ain't talking about sitting in front of the computer too long, I'm talking about the experimental camera speed update. Players were reported having epileptic fits afte... Oh, they only vomited? Well, that's alright then. Anyway, one tanker reported that his tank "felt drunk". Too much Russian Vodka I'd say. Despite the initial backlash the update remains until now, though the speed is adjustable using the Ctrl+Shift+K command. No more epilepsy fi... :ahem:, headache reports are coming through. THREE Mouse Controls The MC update wasn't exactly HATED, let's just say it was adversely reacted to. I'm including this as its the update that was released in my time with the game, and I didn't like it... I think the reason it was and still is unpopular is everyone is used to using a good old fashioned keyboard nobody particularly wanted it. Fellow AWCer nub Rabin's reply was: "Sorry TO, but this is the only thing I like about this update. Disabled." It received 40 likes. Sez it all dun it?

This finally concludes my piece on updates, the article is meant more to be fun than knowledgeable though it does contain some information. Special thanks to the AWC who without I wouldn't have been able to write this, specifically to @GENERAL_H_A_M_Z_A_9 and , they assisted me invaluably in fact checking and research.
Please leave some feedback on the article! And if you spot any mistakes, blame me! That is all! See YOU in battle!
