Agree with all of the above. I think error recovery is still a problem but time will tell. Trouble is... ***I didn't download a new client***. There must be an auto-update function somewhere behind the scenes. I guess I am okay with that, moreover pleasantly surprised. -

Did we just get a new version? Stuff seems to be working better.... -
Client or browser? I've started lagging in the client but I think it's my PC not the game. .

Rail - you'll see a lot of them at all ranks Then Thunder Then Firebird - but these will become fewer after Brigadier Smoky and Isida - make a serious comeback after Brigadier Ricochet - also becomes fewer after Colonel/Brigadier Hammer and Vulcan also get popular at high ranks Bottom line Fire, Rail, and (Rico or Thunder) should be your protections at low ranks. At high ranks Isida, Rail, and (Smoky or Thunder). *and make sure you MU your protection enough so that Isida runs out of beam energy *before* you die :D

With all the recent changes and additions, I am wondering... is the game so complex as to intimidate new players to the point they seek their leisure elsewhere?

IMO this wasn't necessary. Software issues take time to understand, replicate, troubleshoot, diagnose, remediate, test, and deploy. We need to be patient. -
'I was to understand that there would be no math.' But - I do not see how your Alterations vs MU argument is any different than the MU vs Double Damage supply philosophy. But I am willing to entertain civilized discourse on the matter. Young America. Thank you. You have no idea how much of a compliment that is. Spelling errors aside, you seem to forget that it is so very early in the life of these alterations and much remains to be seen about how the game will change based on this set of alterations and the ones to come. Will we see a new TO after all is said and done. No, we won't. Will the game be subtly different? Sure. But a CTF game today will be a CTF game tomorrow. Remember also that Tanki has changed the balance of turrets and hulls before, and you know what, we're all still here playing. I have given this a great deal of thought, so much so that I am weighing the pros and cons of each turret alteration and carefully planning my next purchases. But wait, sorry, that's again about me, so to keep the conversation objective, I will simply say that the game must and will evolve. If you take a step back, this is exactly like the paint change, only the forum reaction this time is much more civil. People in general dislike change. But change is essential to growth and survival. Tanki without change would have died a long time ago. Embrace the change, learn to evaluate how each can help you become a better player.

Agreed - my thoughts as well on the Smoky alt

Back to the kit for a moment - I've already said I don't care about the change. But if the reason was to curb drugging at high ranks, I think more drastic changes are needed. Today you can still buy 100 at 50% off. Anyone know of any other item in Tanki that is 50% off every day??? IMO druggers will still drug... they just need to spend some extra crystals to do so... and they will do so without a second thought. This has nothing to do with buyers vs free players, again IMO. Changes which will limit supply use. 1 - Change supplies to M0, M1, M2, and M3 versions. Increasing modifications increase percentage of the supply boost. For illustrative example only, say 5%, 10%, 25%, and 50% 2 - NERF supplies! See above example. No more 100% increases... as many have said it makes the millions of crystals poured into M4 equipment useless. No - supplies need to give a boost, not double your yield. Speed boost has this right, the rest of the supplies need to be scaled way down. Maybe even 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% (or somewhere in between). Bottom line - 100% has got to go. 3 - Increase Supply Prices - again scale by modification, but at high rank, drugs are dirt cheap. Play a 60 min battle, drug like crazy, earn 1500-2000+ crystals, stock up on supplies at 50% off, rinse and repeat. Supplies need to be more expensive in order to force players to conserve. 4 - Remove drop points from maps - these can't be freebies anymore. Just like crystal boxes were removed. I see players (even team mates) fighting over map supplies. They need to go. Or.... 5 - Reduce the frequency of supply drops. Right now I believe the drop rate is every 1 minute 45 seconds. Increase to at least 3 to four minutes, so that in a 15 minute battle, supplies fall no more than three or four times. may edit if I have more suggestions (and no, I don't expect these to be well received  )

Gameplay didn't change either. Sure I could see players protections, but battles mostly played out the same as before. Changing equipment during battle is still too painful to do frequently. Bottom line - modest improvement in game play. Having the wrong modules??? After three 50% sales, there's really no excuse for high level players not having protection modules against every turret and well MUd equipment. We'll be just fine. Completely agree. Ever play a DM? Existing variability both from turret output and human factors will drown out most of these alterations. Freeze though.... turns into a Freeze Ray? Looking forward to trying that out Fooled? I'm not seeing that. Fascinating concept - different alterations would finally make XT appealing to me.

sounds balanced to me

I thought the same thing after the paint separation update. Didn't change much. Don't count on it.

The Smoky and Rail alterations have me thinking. Both seem tailored to make the turret more consistent. Smoky loses the critical, and Rail loses its damage variability (mostly). I'm tempted to apply both of these alterations- I'm a constistent kind of guy. ;) Trouble is these really are zero sum changes. You aren't doing anything to improve your turret. The balance remains. Rico and Fire look very good. Like you're really getting something out of your yield at the cost of reload. Will have to try these.

Got it - yeah this noob completely missed that the alterations pricing is relative to the M-level of the alteration itself. Thus some 50k and some 100k. Doh! Guessing the M0 pricing will be something like 5k and M3 pricing will be 250k

Overall, I think this first round of alterations have been very well thought out in terms of balance. I was worried that there would be trade-offs on insignificant attributes in favor of better damage and that as a result, all players would just amp up damage. I don't see that with this batch (well, maybe Firebird). Most of these have me thinking deep thoughts on whether the trade off are worth it. The pricing seems ok, but I really hope it scales back by modification level as a M0 player could never afford what I'm being shown - but I don't really care since I will never play M0 again. Bottom line - well done. I'm looking forward to the remaining three alterations before deciding on which to buy. Recommend others wait and see too. I also don't care about the supply kit change. I bought when I saw the timer, so now I have plenty. The 100 kit at 50% off is fine for those who missed out. 'nuff said.

And what the heck is this??? Happened right in the middle of a battle! I'm getting pretty sick of losing crystals due to bugs in the client. -

"An Error Occurred - Re-Enter The Game" This does not work in the client - it just shuts down. The browser will let you rejoin and pick up where you left off, minus some lost time. If you get this error in the client - the crystals you have earned are GONE. Just happened to me in a heavy Poly CP battle and I am at least 500 crystals short now. -
Just had my first game client crash. Lost at least 500 crystals bc the client doesn't save your place in battle. This must be fixed ASAP.
