Container Project to Learn Reward Probabilities

LittleWillie deserves the help. Chain loot 1: 125 Mines 125 Speed Boost 3500 Crystals Chain loot 2: 100 all supplies 5 Gold boxes 10000 crystals I am enjoying this trend... I only caught one container so far, on Highland during the New Years' event. It had Flow... I haven't used it.

Tanki Picture of the Day - Have any?

Ah, yes, my first The_Pakistani encounter. I joined way too late and at too low a rank to have any effect, but at least I cut your K/D in half for the battle...

What Did You Get From The Containers?

From the kill weekend I got 5 containers, and mostly junk: 3500 crystals, 3 supply kits (I have 30K+ unused supplies!), and at least Premium. So I tried to do the New Year's map on 10x gold night, and played a bunch of matches... Dictators on top of other tanks got them all. Saw 3 containers, got none. So I gave up and ranked up to Marshall during double battle funds. Got golds, no containers. Saw one container drop. So I'm playing missions on single battle funds, normal non-pro battle. I catch a container on Highland which contained Flow.... makes no sense at all... The worst part is that I'd rather have the crystals. What am I going to do with Flow? Be well camouflaged when self-destructing in the water at Rio?

    New Year in Tanki Online!

Back up, hopefully with Magnum having a reload time over one second this time. Every single Magnum in mid ranks was able to power level on any chosen map.
  6. Sergeant808

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

The Magnum bug tonight with zero reload time tends to debunk that theory pretty heavily. My Mammoth M2 10/10 with nearly 40% Magnum protection was getting destroyed by about the 4th or 5th post-mortem shot.

    New Year in Tanki Online!

Can't use that, it lags too much.

    New Year in Tanki Online!

We wish you a merry Christmas (boom boom boom boom) We wish you a merry Christmas (boom boom boom boom) We wish you a merry Christ...maaaaas.... (boom boom boom boom boom boom....) ...And a MAGNUM New Year! (boom boom self-destruct boom boom boom boom boom)

    Magnum!

Magnums are NOT working fine. If they were rapid-firing containers instead of lag-inducing high-explosive shells, then I would be more likely to agree with you.

Episode 153 of the V-LOG has arrived!

The good news is that this is a game. If this were real-life war, your K/D would equal your number of kills or be undefined (divide by zero or one, and we would all rather be dividing by zero...).

    Black Friday in Tanki!

    guessing ~6 AM UTC.

    Black Friday in Tanki!

The crazy part was that it was x1000 for 2 hrs or something ridiculous. Make a kill or convert a point, a black box drops. And the sirens kept going and going like the map was going to get carpet bombed or something... "Air raid Tanki. This is not a drill."

    Black Friday in Tanki!

You have an interesting method of explaining a celebration. Back up? No way. "Back" as in "arrived again on the big time"? Very exciting stuff going on, so I can see that as an early hot-take. "Back" as in "on its back without a back-up plan in case the migration blows up"? I'd buy that.

    Black Friday in Tanki!

At my company, when we push software changes out live in the middle of the night, someone is sitting there watching the change move to a staging server with no business traffic. It gets inspected and validated, then they move to the load balanced servers for customers to pick up the changes. If this were a real business transaction going on to play the game and get a black/gold, they would be up a creek because they would have to honor the prices and conditions on the site. And where's the guy who asked for black golds? They should go down in Tanki history after this. #Tankrupt

    Black Friday in Tanki!

For REAL Black Friday, the first few shoppers (players) get in the door (battles) and get the best deals (higher container rates). Then all the slackers (later players) come and see that the 72" LED TVs for 100 bucks are all gone, and all that's left is the stinking monkeys with Santa hats that clap the cymbals (putrid normal gold box rate). No humbugs, please.

Episode 147 of the V-LOG is here!

There's a lot of this which depends upon the parameters. If Mammoth has to make contact, it's going to be nigh impossible to use. If all it has to do is be nearby, then it will be effective upon activation but a large drawback almost immediately afterwards if the speed loss is more than a bit. I use a Mammoth (it was Titan at lower ranks) and sitting still doesn't work on most game modes, invincible or not. About the only way this has any value is by sitting on your own flag or taking the singular control point. Keep in mind also that Mammoth has this power when it can get there, a painful proposition on a tank that doesn't have mobility when the new feature isn't activated yet, much less afterwards. You also have to actually survive to get to the target. Heavy hulls don't dodge much. I think there's a general misconception in the player population that heavy hulls are solely for base defense. They work great as midfielders in maps the size of Seruphov or Novel, when equipped with a turret with some range and higher rate of fire (Smoky, Thunder, Vulcan, Twins, Ricochet...). Once in a while, you get into the enemy base and support a flag run, occasionally taking it out. This feature pretty much invalidates the Mammoth in its role of zone control forward of the base and forces it into point defense, a more limited, less exciting role. You're also not going to be able to assist with a spawn-camp run by sitting deathly still and being unable to react to spawning enemies. This is traded off by being more able to fight off a spawn-camp in your base, but that just reduces the impact of an already-lost battle, as opposed to participating in a win. The best losing tank is outperformed by most of the winning side, even for less score.

Episode 147 of the V-LOG is here!

This is all going to depend upon the parameters, but that has never stopped holistic speculation.

Best ways and maps to rank.

His rank-up already occurred... recommend closure.
  19. Sergeant808

What kind of players makes you cringe?

Okay, okay, I admit it. I do NOT use X and Z to turn the mines before I lay them down, even at my rank.

The Failure and Death of Tanki Online

A little humor. I filtered that on the US of A over here and got state data. Who the heck has a gazillion alt accounts in Iowa and Arkansas? I mean, the population of those states is very low compared to others, and they lead the other 48 by a huge margin. Maybe Tanki needs an event in Des Moines or Little Rock...

Best ways and maps to rank.

The obvious ones I've seen are the Kungur bridge and anything in Stadium (of course, it's a stadium). Make up a new game mode or something. Save the Gold is not a developer-created game, so why can't you make a new one too? Maybe try a game of Hide and Seek for a competitive rank-up event. Take a big irregular map like Deathtrack and start a private battle on it. Night would be more fun, if it supports it. Have everyone start but the two tanks about to rank up. Leave yourselves each the same amount of XP room before rank-up. Everyone else joins with Mammoth/Titan, no protection, and a short range weapon and hides on the map. Once it's ready, the two honorees join. Rules for you are that you must lower your perspective to ground level (no overhead) and have to hunt down tanks. A light hull is clearly useful, but the weapon choice is yours. First to win/level gets the first gold? Creativity should be your limit on these things.
  22. BATTLE REPORT: I got onto the HTML5 test server when it was open. It works! The big missing pieces I noticed were performance (might just be the under-powered test server) and lack of hardware acceleration for the graphics. There might be a lot of missing little pieces which I did not have time or access to test. Very encouraging.
  23. I assume that you're in jest. It's more exciting than it seems, because they wouldn't just throw a loading screen out there on the test server. It means that they're pretty far along. The client interface must have its framework on HTML5 now, which means that they're doing pure-play web and client dev work now to fix/add features. It also means that they've done most of the extremely difficult and fundamental work to get a battle engine on HTML5. Once they have their core team comfortable on the platform, they'll be able to knock a bunch of stuff out fast. Plus, they don't need developers to do proprietary Flash trash. They can get a web dev to do web dev work, faster. It's also a ton easier to use UX testing tools like Selenium to do regression tests now that they can ignore Flash. They'll be able to show that they aren't breaking old stuff by adding new stuff, which gives them the ability to increase velocity as well. It's kinda like seeing a space rocket get rolled out slowly to the launch pad. You know it still won't launch for weeks, and the weather might cause tons of delays along the way, but that thing will launch one day in the near future, and that is exciting. Speculation: edited for spelling
  24. He shared partially useful information and added fear, uncertainty, and doubt to supplement. JavaScript does not need plug-ins to run on browsers. Java is the plug-in tech and has little to do with JavaScript except that they're both used on the Web, take naming inspiration from a famous Indonesian island and coffee slang, and share some syntactical elements. Very different in how they run. Java is the plug-in fear; JS is just scripts. I'm not sharing the insult response, though. This gets messed up all the time. Flash is officially end-of-life and Tanki's got to get off the melting ice floe. HTML5/JS is the common supported platform if they can move to it in time, thankfully without kludgy plugins.
