I have a question about ASL scoring. If the defending team (blue) comes into the attackers base (red) and starts killing them off, do they get defense points or just kill points? If the defending team comes into the attackers base and kills the flag bearers before they leave base, do they get defense points and kill points?

Not long ago, a Player said that he has allotted 100 USD every month to spend on Tanki. There may be others that spend more.

Oh, ok. Forgot we were talking about DMs.

I ran into the same thing. I was using Firebird/Hornet at the time. I came back to base with the flag and very little HP left. A Mammoth was sitting on our flag and refused to move to let me cap. I drove around him trying to find a capping spot. His turret followed me, so I knew he saw me. Meanwhile, 4 drugging enemy tanks came into our base, killed me and killed the Mammoth. They reset their flag and stole ours for the cap. Later, I brought the flag back to base and saw the same Mammoth sitting on our flag, again refusing to move. I went a short distance away, dropped the flag and pretended to drive off. The Mammoth left his perch to get the flag. I loaded a SB, grabbed the flag and capped it. After the merger I was in my first battle that was all Russian. I saw a Mammoth sitting on our flag and thought, "Oh no, not this again." I hung around base a bit with Railgun/Hornet and help with the kills. I observed that our teammates came in with the flag and dropped it next to him, then drove off. That Mammoth capped every flag that came in. I don't know if that was battle strategy or they just didn't feel like arguing with a Mammoth. He seemed to be doing quite well for himself, so I went into battle. You've heard the saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."? I brought the flag back and dropped it next to him. He blew me a short burst of frost, then capped.

Crystals aren't based on the number of kills, but rather the number of points you get off the kill. You'll get more crystals for a kill that is 100% yours than you will if someone else is firing at the same tank or if someone else has reduced the tank's HP and you come along and finish the kill. Same holds true if the target tank has a turret with splash damage and has lost some HP because of that.

I have Vulcan M1.9. Can I carry the Vulcan on up the ranks and still be effective or should I be thinking about another turret? Perhaps Thunder, for example.

I have three questions: 1...If I have standard Viking M3/4 and buy Viking XT M3, will the XT replace the standard Viking or will I have 2 Vikings in my garage? 2...Does the Viking XT M3 have to be MUed to M3/4? 3...Are there many Vulcans above rank Brigadier?

I did 3 missions and claimed one. After the update, I got a mission I didn't want. If I change the one I don't like, will I lose the 2 missions already completed?

Thank you for the link. I killed him several times. Why did he get points for assaulting my base, but I didn't get any points for killing him?

I think some of these passwords are rated much too high. A good password contains upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers. symbols (characters above the numbers. Some websites won't allow symbols like: ?<";, etc.) and spaces using dash and/or underline and be no less than 10-12 characters long. Of course, the longer the password the harder it is to hack. Don't use words found in the dictionary, You can make up a good password by constructing a sentence with all the above elements and use just the initials of the words in that sentence. For example: I love my 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria and it's white over red paint-job Becomes: Ilm1955FFCV&iworp-j Now you have a 19 character password. You can complicate it a little more by mixing up the 1955, like 5591, 1595 so it doesn't look like a year or date.

valid EXP for extinguishing and unfreezing

Some time ago, there was a discussion about this in the forum. One player asked why should he waste his ammo on a teammate? It takes too long to reload. Meanwhile, the enemy comes into your base and you have nothing to fight him with, because you just wasted your ammo on a teammate. I think there are a lot of players who don't know about stop freezing with Firebird and stop burning with Freeze. I seldom see it done, anymore. I think with this type of update, it would give more player awareness about the abilities of these turrets.- 69 replies

Will someone please post a link that leads to the scoring system in ASL? I was in a 1v1 ASL battle. I was blue. I killed the red flag bearer several times: while carrying the flag, before picking up the flag and while he came into the blue base. End score was 14-0, not in blue's favor. I don't understand why I didn't get any points. With this logic, if I were able to spawn kill him, then the end score would be 0-0 and I know that isn't right. So, I guess I just don't understand the point system.

Isn't my rank too low?

I'm stuck with a Vulcan M0 10/10 in my garage. I need to get a Vulcan M2, if I plan on using it. Should I just buy the Vulcan M2 by itself or buy it in a kit? If I bought it in a kit, would my existing M0 be upgraded to M2? Mountain Kit offers Mammoth M2 (I have Mammoth M1.4) and Vulcan M2. Vesuvius Kit offers Viking M2 (I don't have a Viking) and Vulcan M2.

As all Judges should be unless the price is right. :)

Sometimes I think Tanki sabotages 2 or 3 players in a battle and paints invisible bullseyes on them. I've been one of those several times and I've seen other players go through the same thing. It seems no matter what I do, how I play, what map I play, what combo I use, nothing seems to pan out right. I'm constantly being one shotted, even with DA activated. I grab the flag and before I can say "Boonswaggled" I'm dead. I play Isida M2 going head to head with Isida M1 and I'm the one that dies. I go to another account. Same thing. Those are the days I quit playing for that day.

Usually, I can't tell a speed hacker from a lagger. Several times I have seen a tank sitting behind me, but off to one side. I start shooting and he suddenly speeds past in front of me, about the same distance as he was behind me. He pauses for a second or two, while I'm still firing on him and making damage points. Then he suddenly speeds past me again to the point where he first started out. I'm still firing and making damage points. He pauses for a second or two then speeds past me to the point he was the second time. I'm still firing and making damage points and finally destroy him. This usually happens when I'm using Vulcan. A couple times, i've seen a player zig-zag across the map at break neck speed. I saw a jump hack in Brest Blue building. Both flags had been stolen. Two teammates and I were in blue building doing some spawn killing. Our flag bearer, apparently, was killed and blue flag returned. Just then, before one of us could grab the flag, the blue flag bearer entered the building from the front. We fired at him, but just as we fired, he used a jump hack and landed on his own flag. It's true. You almost have to record every battle to catch hackers.

To be fair, I have to point out an Isida/Wasp we had in a battle a couple weeks ago. Wish i could remember his/her nickname. This player seemed to know all the tricks for survival/healing abilities. The Isida knew that most weapons will shoot the closest tank when two or more are in tandem and used it to the utmost advantage, keeping in mind that his job was to keep teammates alive. We were playing CTF. When accompanying the flag bearer, instead of following and getting killed, Isida would go in front with the turret facing the flag bearer and keeping pace. Yes, the flag bearer took some hits, but the Isida didn't take any and stayed alive, healing until they reached the base. Some of the players were so impressed with Isida's survival and healing abilities, they gave the Isida the cap.

I must commend you on your guide. Very informative. I've been playing Tanki a little longer than you, but still learned a thing or three. You mentioned Ghosting. I haven't seen Ghosting used effectively in a very long time. I remember a very difficult battle on Noise CTF. (This was way before Magnum was even a twinkle in the Devs eyes). We were Red and losing. Blue had mostly Rico and Rail with Twins doing cleanup duty. That was the first time I had seen Ghosting in action. Mammoth went first with DA activated. Hornet ghosted first and then Wasp. They went up the short wide tunnel ramp. He didn't stop to shoot. His mission was to get the other two to the flag. They got to the second tunnel ramp. Mammoth stopped and loaded a RK. Meanwhile, Hornet and Wasp separated from Mammoth making Hornet spawn and loaded a DA. Wasp still ghosted. They followed Mammoth up. Hornet got Wasp on top of the flag and separated and started helping Mammoth clear out the nest. Wasp spawned and loaded either a SB or a DA, I forget. He ran with the flag and made that long leap of faith. We did that a few times to even up the score. Blue was accusing us of cheating and some of Blue team left. Since the score was tied, we promised not to do that again....and we didn't. I don't know if our actions disorganized Blue (they didn't seem to play as well) or if it was the lack of 2 Blue players. They got one more flag, but we still won by a good margin. Those were the good ol' days when it was possible to make in-game battle plans. Everyone spoke the same language.

I remember the blue boxes. They had 10 crystals, at first. I don't remember at what ranks this happened, but the boxes fell one at a time in all the drop zones. Then as you ranked up, more dropped in the drop zones. I don't know at what rank they started dropping 5 at a time in each drop zone. I was a low ranker occasionally joining Marshal (the highest rank) battles just to get my tracks on those 50 crystals in each drop zone. Of course, I was out there helping my teammates by ambush hiding. I wasn't exactly a mult farming crystals. I could make at least 200 + crystals in one battle. Use them to buy supplies, saving my battle earned crystals for the next tank/turret upgrade (no MU's then). The downfall were the lower ranking Mammoth Crystal Farmers sitting in the drop zones using supplies to last as long as they could. I single out "lower rankers" because in the Marshal battles, they didn't seem to care about the crystal drops. The crystals just sat there and disappeared, but in the lower rank battles, they never went to waste. But Crystal Farmers never die and new ones will come. So, with the way Tanki is now, NO I would not want them back. However, I wouldn't be opposed to the battle fund being distributed more fairly to give the losing team more incentive to stay. Less than 100 crystals won't buy one RK used in battle. Many times I have seen the top scorer on the losing team get less than 100 crystals, usually around 94.

Wow. If I had a Ricochet, friends who were willing to be killed so I could win a contest and, of course, followed the rules, I could have been a World Class Contender.

I can identify with that. When using Shaft, I look around for a target before looking into the scope. Many times I've had the enemy dead to rights and one of my teammates nudges me, exposing my laser beam, when there was absolutely no reason for the nudge. I think they are too lazy to use A-D or left/right arrow keys. Same with Railgun. Mindless players nudge them, too. I love a good Isida player on my team. Unfortunately, some of them don't know where reverse is. They get directly behind you and refuse to move when you need to take cover or reload. Eventually, they need to reload, too. But do they move? No. You're still exposed and die. Don't they realize that they can heal just as effectively from the side as they can from the back? Then there's the one that blocks you when you have the flag and running for your life. The Isida drives right in front of you, healing while your tail is becoming swiss cheese. You die, (because Isida has blocked you) Isida grabs the flag and gets one shotted. What has been accomplished? I'm sorry for calling out the Isidas. Right now, I'm aggravated because I was just in a battle where our Isida cost us a lot of points by being a complete noob.
