1. You can get both with the Stinger Kit right off the bat. 2. Railgun-M2 if you must. Thunder is a short jump in ranks from M2 to M3, so I would bypass Thunder-M2. 3. Save for one good M2 kit and use it as a base to build upon.

Paint protection does not mean invincibility. But also means you have to adapt, use your backup turret or just keep a brick on your space bar with the Twins. :)

M3 turrets aren't an issue. It becomes an issue when they are MU'd to M4 and then jacked up with DD. They'll eat up any M2 hulls or lesser no matter the paint protection or MU (unless it is up to M3).
