I agree with your article, except for this quoted piece. What the U.S. spends on technology (or at least a fair chunk of it) goes largely into research and development, which is very important. The sad thing is, the U.S. spends more on welfare then on their military! The figures are based on several different internet sites, and the figures are: Welfare, 668 billion; military, 664.8.
