I also got Vulcan. If you use a heavy hull with it then you might find the m2 alteration worth it. If you use Vulcan with say, Viking then you probably won't need it.

I'm going to guess that is because you just ranked to warrant officer one today, and were a sergeant major when rewards were distributed out. Players with a rank lower than warrant officers cannot buy or receive gold boxes in any way shape or form, so even though you have ranked up, it's too late and you will not be getting 5 golds, just the premium. Tough luck :( .
