I predict another bad disaster like the last "match maker" battles SNAFU. and the recent "gold box" event (which was a complete and utter failure). Tanki just doesn't get it. These are not the kinds of changes that people give a crap about. Fix the bugs. Add new things like turrets, maps. If you're going to have a special event - fine - just make sure you don't screw it up (like the gold box event). Don't add crap like "crystal missions" which means you wind up wasting a bunch of time in a battle only to see stupid people on your team throw away half your effort at the end of the game - and which encourages people with crystal missions to join the WINNING team (every time). DO add things like the stryker and magnum turrets. Why am I wasting bandwidth? Tanki never listens. Get ready for another drop in player count.

I j I just looked at the patch updates. Nothing there about this bug. This is so FUBAR. Typical Tanki. Waste time on changes nobody wants, create a bug and just leave players hanging in the wind.
-
Maybe because most of us have no clue where it is. Does it address this bug?
-
Same problem. Both CP and CTF battles. Capture a point, capture a flag, you get no credit for it. I already had my mission chain broken when Tanki did that stupid live "match making" test. Will Tanki be screwing us all again?

Hard to imagine a bigger mess up that this. I've played Tanki for a while now... but I'm finally realizing that the devs are hell-bent on destroying Tanki. I'm looking for an out that doesn't mean I've wasted all my time to build an account I no longer want because of the stupidity of Tanki dev.

I'd rather see overdrive ONLY during the holidays. Though I can use it advantageously, it's sort of like, "Cast a magic spell" instead of Tanki. Put it in all the time and the appeal quickly fades. Add it at holidays, and it can be something that spices up the games. In general, I'd rather see Tanki Developers spend their time: squashing bugs developing new maps working on new turrets Did I mention fixing bugs? Adding new games (assault is fun) Adding all the stupid bells and whistles they seem to fond of introducing just makes Tanki a mess. The best developments in the past year were Magnum and Striker. The worst were elimination of pro battles for missions, the "rebalance" and the "unbalance" caused by the raping of supplies. On balance, Tanki is getting worse - not better - and every effort to add "magic" to the game will only make it less fun to play. That's not to say a periodic feature added (like Overdrive) at specific times can't be a good thing. But all the time? No. And gutting entire categories of turrets though nerfing supplies? Insanity!

The latest update just SUCKS! I hate the unicorn farts!
-
AGREED!
-
Hate the new changes. The sounds are distracting and meaningless. The unicorn-fart graphics and flying dollar signs are pointless. The supplies limitations are just more of Tanki making stupid changes BUT NOT FIXING THE BUGS. I still get into games where my gun doesn't work or I can't pick up supplies or the game crashes. And of course, every filtered game list still contains a game that does not match the filter. You know what happens when companies don't listen to customers? Companies fail.

I don't know why they did the whole stupid "naming" thing for protections. Why didn't they just let you pick three options, mix it, and call it by the abbreviations. For example, if you had Thunder, Isida and Rail protection at 25% that would be a TIR-2. See? Easy! Don't agree? Quick - which protection package has Thunder, Isida, Rail? Yeah. Go waste your time looking it up. That entire long list of stupid protection names could be replaced with a single frame that looks like a slot machine. (Cherry-Lemon-Bar ... you lose!) Better yet, if you have Grizzly M2... what the hell IS that? I mean, do you know without looking it up? Of course you don't. What about a Dolphin M2? Pick out the ones that are NOT Tanki protection modules: Lion Bear Kodiak Grizzly Cockroach Flea Whale Turtle Eagle Chicken Tuna Wiener-Dog Anteater Wolf Piglet Just one more example of Tanki wasting time on irrelevancies while the bugs continue to live on.

You know what would be really cool? If Tanki would FIX the kit descriptions page - which has been totally for almost a year. (When I tell people about Tanki, I always tell them to check THAT PAGE first so they understand that Tanki isn't serious about quality or fixing problems. It helps the adjust - lower - their expectations.) A Put some of the Magnum and Striker kits into the kits area. Oh wait. That would be something that would actually mean FIXING something that's broken, and not adding a new "feature" (which will break further damaging game play). Never mind. Tanki's not interested.
-
There is no "cool new feature" that's half as important as bug fixes. The "you can't pick up that supply box" and the "your gun doesn't work" bugs are especially irritating.
-
Do you know the Tanki Developer's Motto? "If it's not broken, FIX IT UNTIL IT IS!" To improve Tanki, just get rid of THIS update and the LAST update. Fiddling with 10% rewards for kicking Tanki players in the nuts is NOT going to make things better.

So none of the kits are showing in the garage. Is this another Tanki "improvement"? ... Or is it yet another bug that the developers didn't have time to fix because they were too busy adding nonsense/nuisance changes like the "mission" change? -

When will the missions update be removed? This has to be one of the most unpopular changes Tanki has made in YEARS. -

Because they cannot even be bothered to fix the OBVIOUS and EASILY FIXED bugs. For example, go to any server, select a type of battle and notice there's always one battle that is NOT of the selected type. This is probably an array indexing problem, and shouldn't take a competent developer more than about 10 minutes to fix. And yet this bug has persisted for over a year. If Tanki was interested in making money, one of the things they would do is seek feedback from users. The recent missions change, for example, would probably NEVER have happened - and even if it did, it would have been reversed by now. Its disadvantages clearly outweigh any perceived advantages. But whoever is prioritizing Tanki's actions clearly doesn't have a clue about running a business - and that's why Tanki will eventually fail. The bottom line is pretty simple: If you don't make your customers happy, they go somewhere else. But in order to make your customers happy, you have to know what they want and make some effort to deliver. Tanki clearly doesn't want to hear from users - ergo, failure. -

Why does Tanki require users to leave a battle, go to their garage, select equipment and return to battle instead of just having drop-down menus accessible directly from the battle? The time used to load the garage graphics is just wasted. -

Be nice if Tanki offered a mission reward of "Mission Chain Link" that users could use to take a VACATION from missions for a week but not break the chain. You could save it sort of like a gold box to be used in the garage whenever you needed it. -

The recent missions update and rank expansion changes means that: >> Battles that can be used for missions are greatly reduced in number (in many cases, 90% of all battles are PRO and cannot be used for missions). >> Junior players looking for non-PRO battles are forced to play with much more senior players. This means they will die many more times before achieving their mission objectives and that it will take much longer for them to complete their missions. >> Non-pro battles are MUCH more crowded - with most being completely filled. This means that it takes much longer to complete most resource-related missions. (Consider 20 players trying to get 2 repair boxes each in a Polygon mission where there is only one repair box. This would take a minimum of 80 minutes if all players took just two boxes each!) >> Senior players also have difficulty finding non-PRO missions, but have an easier time in battle because many junior players are forced into the limited number of non-PRO battles to complete their missions. The junior players then become easy targets for the more powerful tanks used by the senior players. Given that continual defeat for junior players is very discouraging, that discouraging new players by making daily missions more difficult (or impossible) will prevent new players from continuing to play Tanki and prevent the number of players from growing, that one of the major challenges for completing missions is just finding suitable battles, that the fact that these changes give an even bigger advantage to senior players and penalize junior players, and that the changes are so odious that some players will leave Tanki altogether, how soon can we expect Tanki to gain some sense of sanity and reverse the missions change? Followup question: Why does Tanki waste its time "fixing" things that are not broken? Why don't the developers concentrate on adding new features that make Tanki more fun (like new kits, new maps, new turrets) and fixing bugs instead of adding changes that make players miserable? -
I'd happily do without the NEW features if Tanki would fix the OLD bugs! I get really tired of "an error occurred" and I'm booted out of a game. Likewise, how many people have run over a box - and had nothing happens? You might your way to a green box and it doesn't fix your tank. You roll over a red box - you can't pick it up - but your enemy can! Faugh! And the "gun doesn't work" problem. You know - you shoot someone 22 times with an M3 rail and it doesn't even affect them. But their first three shots kills you. And the problem doesn't go away when you're respawned. It sticks around until you log out and log back in again. Then there's the "my browser opened another window, and suddenly my turret won't turn, my gun won't even fire - but I register hits like crazy" bug. Basically you get to drive around and be a target. Again, the only way to fix it is to log out and log in again. If you want to add a new feature, how about a "reset" button? The graphics are cool - but I do get tired of seeing my tank "hit" by a rail shot that misses me by 4 tank lengths. A common standard for moderators would be nice too. I've seen people banned for trivial violations (moderators out of control), while others post dozens of pages of raw sewage and nothing happens. On balance, moderators are a joke - a bad joke, but still a joke. Those are all things that should be FIXED before any "new features". If you want to add NEW features, how about one that let's you change equipment without a trip to the garage? 3 pull-down menus would let you select hull, turret and paint in a few seconds and get back to the battle. And why can't you just cancel a mission that you're never going to do? When I see something like "kill 60 enemy for a speed boost box and a popsicle" I just want to log out and not come back. How about a button that says, "Okay, I'm not going to do this mission. Fill the blank with a different mission tomorrow." I liked the old "upgrade" system better too... an example of an "upgrade" that really wasn't. Overall, Tanki has reached the point where the focus should be on bug fixes before creating new bugs - I mean "features".
-
Instead of adding a bunch of features (Teddy Bears, battle monitoring, mission chains, etc.) why don't you fix the BUGS in the current software? I could probably sit down and list at least a DOZEN bugs that I've encountered. I used to report them - but customer "service" isn't interested, so I no longer waste my time. Here's a hint: The bigger your code base, the harder it is to maintain. And the two are not in a linear relationship. Double the code base and your overhead more than doubles. So if you can't fix the bugs you already have, adding more "features" isn't going to make your job easier, or even proportionately harder. It's going to make it MUCH harder. There are a lot of things in the design of Tanki that are just plain stupid. For example, why don't you display the current tank configuration on the battle page. Really? You have to go to the garage and look? And you can't really change features "in battle" as advertised. Instead, you have to go to the garage, make the changes, blow up your tank. Why not just have drop down menus to select changes on the fly and a button that says "makes selected changes"? But the bugs that tick me off the most are the phantom tanks and one-way kill feature. I've played games where I could see my screen and my friend's screen. He can shoot me and it scores damage. I shoot him - the shot hits - but no damage. One time I shot him 14 times - no damage! Then he shot me twice and I was dead. I've even shot him in exchanges where I shoot him (nothing) he shoots me (damage) I shoot him (nothing) he shoots me (destroyed). I've been in battles where I've hit someone a dozen times - nothing happens. My gun isn't working. Or the controls freeze up. Or the gun doesn't fire at all. Or the turret won't rotate. These are mostly fairly recent bugs. Did your new "features" include them? Is the server instability the result of adding new features before fixing the old bugs? If it were up to me i'd put a moratorium on new features. I'd devote 100% of the effort to finding and fixing bugs. Look, you've got a real-time distributed multi-party system - why bog it down with crapola that's a whole lot less important than bug fixes? And then there's the whole KGB-approach to Tanki. You'd rather build tools to spy on tankers than fix the bugs you have. What does that say about the mentality of whoever is directing development? It's more important that you find some new way for monitors to harass players than to fix what's broken. How about you build tools to spy on the servers - to find the bugs that ruin the game?
