It creates a pattern over which employers in the future will judge you against. Screw up teenage years and high school 'overall' means you can't get into the best college / university, nor into your choice of programs. If you are in the best known Ivy Leagues, in the best programs, and making the top 5-10% of your class, the best employers and roles are yours, as they will believe you have what it takes to A) learn and B) work hard. I had guessed earlier that it would be early Dec 26th we'd hit it, then BD30 thought it would be for Xmas, and called all spammers to unite to get 35 pages going. Sorry Gabs, math is a basis for a lot of life. Simple rules sometimes, hard rules other times, ... just need to learn them and figure them out. But then the rest of the world gets based on rules too. Languages and music both draw from math. Sciences, computers, code can all be drawn from math and rules. Find a way to get into it, relate it to something in RL that makes it interesting. It will be important. The specifics no, but the general problem solving skills -> YES! Too many people go to work and just do what they are told. We can all succeed when we learn about what we are doing, why we are doing it, does it make sense, are there problems in the way it is currently done, can we fix it ourselves, and if not, can we find the best manager or senior manager that cares enough to fix it like us AND has the ability to rally resources around a solution. Succeed in math and succeed in life. Taken from someone who has finished school. BitBan, so sorry to hear that news. As you may remember, I just lost my mom 2 months ago. It really sucks. It may be hard now, but time passing helps. Remember the good times, and believe that the person is in a better place, no pain and no worries. And know they are still around watching over us.
