It will be a melee turret like Firebird, Freeze and Isida. So more for players that like getting into the thick of things. With the current level of player you can forget about it.

You are right and wrong. Any turret on Hornet is OP, so that includes Shaft. With 13 turrets in the game and only 3 protection modules, if your turret is popular so does the protection module. Therefore Hornet is a good way around it, but when the OD is down, it becomes difficult to kill. If your turret is not popular, protect module against it would be scarce, and the OD is only good at removing the double damage (like Hunter OD does and Gauss alt). The other noticeable advantage is the ignore protection Titan's dome, drone passive and active protection - the perfect F2P weapon against buyers. The drawback is the low HP of your hull, you need to find ways to stay alive longer to maximise the overdrive ability.
