Probably not... I don't see them mentioned in the index. It probably doesn't appear in single variable calculus, but maybe in multi. Idk...

    Untreated, Chapter 5

Drama Development A development chapter with drama, which is what the name says. For chapter 4.5 please go here. After a few weeks accustoming to the new class schedules, the school year became a routine. Usually, Ms. Makayla, my P.E. teacher from the last year, enjoyed pestering me by loudly calling my name when I passed by. During science, Ms. Dulke, the sour-faced teacher with a nose as sharp as a knife, liked to assign torturous group projects, pairing me with talentless dolts, which usually brought my exceptional grade down. Though there were many lowlights I experienced at school, I managed to accomplish a great feat: keeping Pyco farther away from Hanen Hervon. I wanted him for myself. This was helpfully done with some assistance from music. Before P.E. began, we had an ample amount of time before the teachers came, and Pyco and I would spend time spying on the orchestra students, who set up their instruments with us poking around and greeting them. As for Hanen? She sat down obediently on her assigned number, chatting with her sister. And in time, I headed on over to music classes myself. During classes, I reigned as first chair clarinet, meaning that I would get the nonexistent solos in our songs and the bragging rights. My stand partner, Alicia Copa, who was a year younger than me, proved to be a competitive player as well, and the hot topic came upon a chair challenge, where my teacher could rename a concertmaster, which would hopefully not be Alicia. As for Pyco, he ended up a skilled conductor in the class’s Music Council whom everyone admired for his graceful routine on the podium, where he directed pieces like a natural. Some even said he conducted better than the music teacher and made her movements seem choppy and awkward compared to his. So while his position wasn’t the best, his reputation made up for it. After music, I headed to English, where we switched seats. As I walked inside the classroom, late as always, my teacher ushered me to a mostly occupied table. “Jo-Ann, you’re sitting with Nav, Patty, and James.” she led me to my seat, where I sat down nervously. I just never really got along with people, except for Pyco and Jamie. Though I knew Patty and James, Nav was an anomaly, short and stout, with a messy mat of blonde hair, usually the one who was labeled as annoying, as I had overheard from the table next to mine in Ms. Dulke’s science class the day before. However, I felt slightly sorry for Nav, who seemed rather amiable as we introduced ourselves to our new tablemates. As each day wore on, our group socialized rather well, and I enjoyed the comfortable setting as well as the joy of making new friends in English. But music was still the most eventful class, especially with the adept and ambitious Alicia ready to drop a bomb on me at any moment. “Don’t challenge my chair!” I pleaded, knowing that the chances of winning, being the unfavored one, were slim. “I think I can beat you.” was the only answer I heard. There was no way out. Not even begging. On the day of the challenge, November 7th, we set up our instruments, warmed up, and tuned like well-oiled machines in the privacy of the music teacher’s office. And there was no one there but Pyco to wish me luck. “Good luck, Jo-Ann,” he encouraged me, like many other students had. “And good luck, Alicia!” he chanted, before whipping out a handmade wooden conductor’s baton and disappearing out of the office in a flourish. My mouth hung open for just a few seconds before I immediately clamped it shut. “Ready for the challenge, Alicia, Jo-Ann?” my teacher asked. I shook my head, knowing the impending defeat, but Alicia replied, “Ready as I’ll ever be.” To make a long story short, I lost. This last chapter was rather fun to write, especially since I included a single memory from my past, which was losing a chair challenge in music. I still have the paper, knowing that I played much too shakily in a piece and too brightly in the next. Is there a balance? P.S. Apologies to reporters for being wishy-washy and changing three words in this whole article because they would look better. It's time to go, but I'll come back at. Unearthing

Unearthing My first stab at the Yesterville Saga Every Thursday, rain or shine, every aspiring writer within a five-mile radius of Motivate Me Writing Centers devoted two hours in the night to dreaming up anything from violent flash fictions to expertly crafted novels. As with each large group, these teens gathered in their own little groups to craft their Halloween mystery collaborations. Among a small gathering of mainly first-year Young Writers, one girl noticed the table shaking, the ground threatening to break open and swallow the classroom. Just as she was about to speak, the bespectacled chubby kid across from her released a swift kick, hitting her, and she silenced. “If you can all pay attention,” the annoyed teen grumbled. Once he had assumed leadership, the energy emanating from his voice had also seemed to tame the rest of those around him. The girl, the only one who had offered ideas, had given up. Whenever she tried to say anything, she would only be forced into a wall of silence. They just hated her. Maybe it was how she was supposed to be a rich kid, the daughter of Paul Myers, a budding entrepreneur who had founded ViroTech, a company which worked on surgical nanobots, but she’d only turned out second-rate to her twin brother. Just maybe. But even though she was inferior, most of the town thought of her as a outcast, both talentless and despised for being rich, secluding her to the apparent safety of her own home. As she wondered why the world disliked her so much, the teacher called, “Class dismissed!” Walking down the three streets back to her comfortable home across town, she walked along the trick-or-treaters begging for candy. As she passed each one, every single person screamed and shuffled away as fast as their costumed legs could carry them. Arriving by the driveway, she began to pull out her house keys and saunter up those last steps to her porch. Just as she felt the jingle of a dolphin keychain in her pocket, two masked teens grasped onto her tightly. Bullies. She was no stranger to them, but unknowing of the damage they were to cause. Running through the garden, they had one goal in mind: stopping her father from gaining any more fortune. Ever since he had made his first nanobots, their family had been envied by the town because of their riches. Smashing through a wooden fence and setting off alarms, the pair of daredevils made a beeline towards the shed. Her father’s home workshop. Preparing as they would for the javelin, they took a stance and hurled her towards the building housing all the prototypes of a soon-to-be revolutionary invention. She didn’t feel the impact, the body-slam onto metal-reinforced wood. Only one pinching pain in her left arm left her queasy. With all the ruckus, her father rushed outside. Paul’s stress-worn face turned to shock and anger once he saw his daughter trying to crawl out of the opening of the shed, a nanobot pinned to her arm. “What in the-?” he shrieked. “YOU!” he yelled, unsure whether directed to the attackers or her. Running to his child, he shouted at her. “Whatever you do, don’t sneeze! This could be the end of my new nanobots!” As she held her breath, a wave of silence enveloped the two of them. Time froze, then sped up to a crawl. Slowly, everything returned to normal. The wind howled in the darkness, and the earth shook once more. This is my attempt to introduce a scapegoat and the start of the apocalypse to the story. Let's get this thing rolling! Until next time... An addendum: if you can post your What If questions here, I'd really appreciate it. I need those for a new series fueled by fellow writers! Thanks! Other Random Works Check them out! TBWLP 3: Untreated, Chapter 4.5

Third Twist That's Chapter 4.5, in other words. For Chapter 4, please go here. “What is this?” he shrieked shrilly and tried to brush the sheet away, as if the piece of paper was going to explode at any moment. I backed up until I rammed into the doorknob and tried to clear my throat to tell him, but the words escaped before I meant to. “My resignation.” A bold tone told him that I wasn’t backing down, but on the inside, I was freaking out. Why was I doing this? As he regained his composure, the red-faced boss plastered his angry and confused visage into a forced smile and asked, “Why? You were one of our best employees. You did everything right, fast, and on time. Though communication wasn’t your thing, you could really beat all those adults at this gig. Whenever I saw you come to do your job, you were always on time and content. You always seemed happy at work; now why do you want to leave?” Sighing, I told him every reason why I would quit. “I can’t work here. This is destroying my life!” Pausing for a moment to catch my breath and regain my composure, I thought of the friends at school I could never establish a closer relationship with, and then that gave me new inspiration to continue on. “I don’t get to hang out with anyone at school and just about every employee that I see here just thinks I am going to take their job! I don’t belong here. I need to go home.” He looked as if he might flood the room with tears, then swallowed and spluttered out a few words, “Alright. But remember, you will always remain part of R.T.E. Intelligence, no matter where your life takes you. I want you to have this.” Holding a dusty, weather-beaten badge gingerly, his shaking hands passed me the artifact and I took it into my hands. “We give these antique badges from R.T.E.’s old days to any agent who has chosen a new career. We want them to stay in touch and get to know fellow former agents. This will allow you to contact any undercover agent within a five-mile radius.” I raised my eyebrows, confused. “Er...former agents. Whatever you do, don’t stop making these codes. We might see them someday.” Placing the badge in my pocket, I stared at the man who had found me an alternative to being locked up in the torture chambers of Avail Academy. Extending out my hand, I offered it to him, and we shook hands before I left this office forever. I never considered adding this chapter until I started to dream. In my sleep, I saw this scene. I see it as a bridge between Chapters 4 and 5, but it was too short to be a chapter, so yeah. That's what happened. Until next time...
