Tankers! While many are confused about the new modifications, there are some who would like to roll them back to zero. Crazy? Well, yep. That’s practically the definition of a parkourist. But yeah, we get it. Parkour is all about finding the right gear to bend the laws of physics to your whim. And since we love what those crazy tankers do, we’re happy to fulfill their wish. If you have an upgraded Wasp and you’d like to roll it back, just write a forum PM to the account Downgrade_Wasp_Mk1, with the subject “Rollback my Wasp”. You have until 2 am UTC on January 30. After that, we’ll stop accepting requests, and we’ll run a rollback on all the accounts that requested it. Here are three important points to keep in mind. This is the ONLY time we’ll be doing this. Hello, tankers! Recently we released a major update - changes in the modifications system. Now, we have reviewed your feedback and are ready to make some changes. What will be changed: Modifications After the modifications update some players entered their garages and found out that their equipment visually looks like it was downgraded, and thought that it became worse. However, that’s not like this. Only the visuals of your equipment were changed. The characteristics have remained exactly the same as before the update. In this release, we are going to make this clearer by changing how modifications look. Here you can see how the skins from old modifications are distributed between new modifications. M0 → Mk1 M1 → Mk2 M1 → Mk3 M2 → Mk4 M2 → Mk5 M2 → Mk6 M3 → Mk7 Gear Score We have updated Gear Score counting parameters for all equipment and fixed some bugs that we had missed during the testing phase prior to the release. Take into account that these changes may slightly decrease your GS (more details on the Wiki). Points for supporting teammates by using drones Additional points for supporting teammates by using drones will no longer affect overdrive charging. Changes in HTML5 Many of you have already moved to the HTML5 version, which is a more comfortable, modern and fast version of the game. Those who haven’t moved yet, we are waiting for you! Unfortunately, the Flash became technically outdated. Browsers and even the Flash team are discontinuing its support, which means we will have to do it too. The new HTML5 is convenient not only for you, but also for us, the developers. By discontinuing Flash and focusing on HTML5, we can improve the game much faster and implement features that previously we could only dream about. What will be added in this release: Asiasoft, Facebook, VK and Odnoklassniki now use the HTML5 version. Added nickname suggestions when you try to register an existing nickname. Added subdomains support. Just add something like your username before .tankinonline.com (e.g. player123.tankionline.com) for each of your accounts and switch between them. They ganged up on the other factions and became invincible! And now, they’re planning on invading the game tomorrow, on January 3rd at 11 UTC. We need to take some urgent action! Help us to catch all the snowmen. 1. Find snowmen in matchmaking battles. You’ll be able to recognize them because they’ll be wearing a special «Snowman» paint 2. Take a screenshot of the snowman (screenshot MUST BE full size and with your nickname and the nickname of the snowman clearly visible) 3. Send this screenshot to us via this form For each UNIQUE snowman (you cannot submit the same snowman multiple times) we will give you 5000 crystals! Tankers! In less than 24 hours, we’ll be leaving 2019 behind us and heading into the new year. This year was a special one. Tanki Online celebrated its 10th anniversary. In case you didn’t know the story, Tanki Online started out as a showcase demo, and was never intended to actually be a full-fledged game. But then something weird happened. People kept playing it. YOU kept it alive! This has probably been one of the busiest years ever for Tanki Online. We’ve implemented a ton of new content in our quest to keep the game fresh for you. And as always, there have been hits and misses. Some of the content —such as the recent WAR for Christmas— turned out to be really popular. Some other things… a bit less. So here’s our promise to you for 2020. We’re gonna keep working hard on keeping Tanki Online fun, so you can keep playing and enjoying it. We can’t promise that we won’t make mistakes, or that we’ll get things perfect right away, but we’ll try our best. From you, we ask for just one thing — help us develop the game in a way that is both enjoyable and sustainable. If you hate a feature, ask yourself, “Do I hate this because it actually harms the game and the community?” And if you do, take the time to write your feedback clearly and in a logical way. Truth is, we're never gonna make EVERYONE happy. That's just the way things are. I guarantee that if we made 95% discount, some people would still complain cos we didn't make it free. Here's the thing. No company is under any obligation to give discounts. But they (and we) still do it, and that happens for two reasons: It increases good will with customers, because they're getting something cheaper, so they benefit As a result, customers buy more, which means the company benefits too. Problem is, you need to maintain a very fine balance. If you give discounts that are too high, or that happen too often, it devalues the product/service, and people will end up buying ONLY when there's a discount, which is bad for business. Now some might say, "Who cares about the business. It's their problem." But in reality, if it's a product or service that you enjoy, you want the company to survive and even do well, so it can keep giving you more of what you're enjoying. There's another thing to consider too. We offer digital services - essentially, ones and zeros. So lots of people think that what we (and other companies like ours) offer does not have any monetary value. But if you think about it, that's not true. Here's what goes into making those ones and zeros: Thousands of hours worth in wages for development - that includes programming the game, systems administration and maintenance, web development for official portals and much more Marketing, PR and customer-support expenses, including employee wages and all the trimmings Equipment and assets, including maintenance, rent etc For an indi-dev team of just three people, the expenses would still run up into the thousands, per month. And then they release a game, price it at $9, and people complain about how expensive it is, even though it's a good game. And they'll wait till Steam discounts it at 75% to buy it, "cos it's just a game". Don't get me wrong, I'm CONVINCED that many of our players are smart enough to understand why we do what we do, even if sometimes we cannot expand too much on the details. But I still felt the need to share this, because these are the things that nobody talks about in the game dev world, and I wanted to give you a candid glimpse behind the Iron Curtain (pun intended lol).
