Yeah, I realized that I messed up there. My excuse for that will be that since the ship had only one engine (hyperdrive) working, even getting 200,000 miles was a stretch.

I don't believe that your newness makes you a not-so-good writer. If you ask me, I'd say you are without a doubt one of the best writers here. I guess though that the writers such as Magenta, who are popular (no offense intended), have more views than you, so they win/stand a much greater chance to win accolades such as "Best Writer".

The ship, almost destroyed, was coming crashing down on the surface of Moronia. “Ivan, you’d better buckle up. This mess is about to get a whole lot wo-”, and just before Marie could finish her sentence, the ship hit the ground. Ivan’s head smashed into a chair and he fell unconscious. “Ivan! He’s out cold.” Marie was confused. “Alex, stop the hyperdrives!” “I can’t, they’re broken!” Alex yelled over the sound of the hull scraping against rocks. “Critical damage detected, a breach in the hull.“ the alarms started to wail. “If they’re not shutting down, we’re gonna have to stop them,” Marie calmly walked towards Ivan’s suit. “Power levels AI?” “Power at 50%, further charging recommended.” “Now, Marie, think through this. If anything happens to that hyperdrive we’re stranded here!” “Well, if you’re quite interested in dying, just let me chuck you out the ship.” Marie got in the suit and after a cacophony of sounds from the suit, it came to life. The A-22 was fast, even still it was being pushed to its edge to keep up with the massive ship. “Caution advised, suit at 15% operating capacity and rapidly dropping.” “Rocket cannon! Now!” With that command, the suit’s right arm morphed into a rocket launcher. Marie steadied her aim, as much as one can steady their aim while trying to hit something moving at a few hundred kilometers per hour, and took the shot. Mere moments later, everything was quite clear. The hyperdrive had been destroyed, and there was metal flying everywhere. Just as Marie was trying to get clear of the now-grounded ship, some debris lodged itself into the back of her suit. “Flight systems offline,” said the AI as the suit plummeted towards the ground. “Alex! The hyperdrives have stopped now! My flight systems have failed, it’s only a matter of time before I-” Marie’s voice was replaced by the sound of static. “Marie’s... dead, Ivan’s out cold. We stopped the ship, but all the leadership is not there for now... which is why... I must take command, effective immediately.” Alex said. An air of melancholy surrounded the crew. “So what do we do sir?” “Scan the area, and kill anything that attacks you, soldiers. Take Ivan to medbay and check for Marie’s life signal.. If there’s even a chance that she’s alive, we cannot lose it. We camp here tonight.” The people in the command center quickly dispersed. Soon enough, the area was cleared and Ivan was placed into the medbay. A saddened officer reported that Marie’s life signal was, in fact, offline. After that, the rest of the crew spent the rest of the time moaning and groaning. “Charlie... I’m gonna go take a walk. While I’m gone, you’re in charge.” after saying so, Alex promptly walked off to the forests. During his time on board the ship, Alex had started to take a liking towards Marie. At first, it was just striking up chit-chat every now and then. After that, it turned into remembering her birthday and it continued on from there. He hadn’t ever stopped to think about what would happen to him if she were dead, but now that she was, he didn’t know what to feel or what to do. “The stars sure are pretty from here, when I’m not flying into them,” he said, still wishing Marie were with him. “They sure are, aren’t they?” a voice echoed from behind. “Hey! Didn’t I say I wanted to be left alone for some time?!” Alex scoffed, quite irritated that his solitude was no more. “Why don’t you look for yourself?” the voice answered. Alex turned around to get a clear look. He was hopeful, at least initially, that it was Marie, but it couldn’t be. The voice was much too deep to belong to Marie. What he saw only horrified him more. Alex reached for his gun. Before long, three shots were heard, and a howl. Ivan had just woken up after getting smacked in the head, and almost instantly, he was overwhelmed by a flood of new information. Someone yelled that they were on Moronia, another sadly talked about how Marie sacrificed herself, and there were still more questions on what they were to do now. The commotion was interrupted when Alex quickly charged into the command center of the ship, covered in blood and bruises. “HE’S... HE’S... HE’S HERE IVAN! HE EVEN BROUGHT HIS SOLDIERS! WE HAVE TO GET OUT NOW!” The person Alex had found in the forest had stripped him of his calmness. “Calm down Alex. Who’s “he”?” “SIMON!” “I’ll be damned... We can’t get out, the hyperdrives, Alex. David’s dead too, so they can’t be fixed either. We’re stuck here. Engage defense formation Omega A.” Ivan reached for his microphone, “EVERYBODY, TO YOUR STATIONS!”

Explosions rocked the command center. Ivan’s ship was in trouble. “Mr. David, what is the status of the Hyperdrives and the proton shield?” “Sir, I’m having a little difficulty fixing it.” “Wait… are those siege cannons?!” Ivan's voice trembled. He had heard a very loud noise over the radio. “I’m afraid so,” David gulped “I can’t fix the Hyperdrives until they’re out of my path.” “Hang on just a little longer Mr. David, I’m coming,” Ivan yelled over the radio. Ivan rushed to the armory and put on an A-class suit. His unique A-22 was equipped with high caliber plasma rifles and oxygen tanks, as well as the ability to fly. Ivan got into the suit and ran towards the carnage. Once he reached there, the hopelessness sank in. The ship was a mess. There were damaged cables dangling from the massive, twenty meter high roofs, the floor was dented and walls were covered in plasma. The whole ship had been severely damaged, and now he and David had to somehow disable the siege cannons. Suddenly a few shells ricocheted off the A-22. Ivan used the hand to point roughly to the origin of the gunfire. On a sophisticated visor, he saw a flanker. He charged up his rifle, and with a quick shot killed the enemy. “Incoming enemies detected! Change to SMG advised.” “I hear ya’ computer.” Ivan talked to his suit, “Prepare Pulse gun.” After a great deal of whirring and gear changing, the two plasma guns turned into one big sized gun. Ivan then gracefully leaped into the air, firing a barrage of ammunition at his enemies. A few fell, but more still continued to return fire. Suddenly, a loud sound boomed across the hangar of the ship. It was the siege cannon. “Computer,” bullets scraped against his suit, “Divert 100% power to the Ion gun!” “Null action. Caution advised, if all energy is used, the suit will be rendered powerless.” “DO IT!” still more bullets bounced off the suit. “Power diverted to Ion cannon. The Ion cannon is ready,” His pulse gun changed to an Ion cannon. There was only one shot at this. Only one chance to save the crew. He instinctively pointed the Ion cannon at the last siege cannon and fired away. The result of his recklessness was a massive hole in the ship. The Siege cannon was destroyed, and many of the enemy soldiers with it, but now the ship was almost inoperable, and Ivans sat in the dark, in his suit. “Hands up!” an enemy screamed. Ivan fell to the floor, seemingly out of exhaustion. “Looks like the maggot’s dead. Let’s pick take him to the leader.” In reality, Ivan was looking for something. A piece of debris, or an empty ammo shell, to take out the soldier. He felt a sharp metal rod. He picked it up and smashed it into the soldier's foot. “Ahhh! He’s alive!” Guns started blazing. Ivan pulled out the iron rod from the soldier's foot and used it to sever the man's oxygen tank wires. An enemy charged at Ivan with his gun. Ivan sidestepped and impaled it through the man's rib cage. He picked up the guns of the dead men and soon all of his enemies lay motionless on the floor. “David! You still there?” “Yes, I am. I have fixed one Hyperdrive. The others require lots of time. Time which we don’t have. Tell your crew it’s now or never.” “You hear that Marie? GET THIS RUSTBUCKET TO A PLANET. ANY PLANET. JUST FIRE UP THAT HYPERDRIVE AND GET US OUT OF HERE. THE EMP SHIELD IS FAILING! I REPEAT, IT’S FAILING!” Lasers had started to make their way to the hangar. Ivan retreated to the command center. “Where’s David?” “The airlock failed. His life signal just went offline.” Ivan sighed. He had lost much of his original crew. Lots of it during this very battle, but losing David was a different kind of sadness. David had been Ivan’s friend, ever since he joined the academy. Also, since David was gone, there was no hope for the Hyperdrives. “We can’t… we can’t… we can’t mourn for our losses now. We have no time. If we all sit here and cry, we’re dead. Where is the nearest planet?” “Moronia. 200,000 miles away. I wouldn’t go there though, the indigenous people aren’t friendly at all. There have been many times where visitors were massacred.” The explosions rocked the command center once again. “Well seeing as the alternative is being blown to hell, I’d highly suggest you set course for Moronia Marie.” Marie obliged. This was going to suck.
