    Let's Discuss Magnum!

It could, rarely. I will tell you one more time, it did not consistently do that, and given the existence of the bell curve used by damage distribution, it only happened maybe 5-10% of the time. This really is not making my perception of magnum players any better. READ. Edit: while I'm at it, things in your argument that make no sense: You make the claim that "mobile magnum takes no skill" - and yet you play Harpoon. You accuse @TheCongoSpider of statpadding, when you claim that your turret needs to be able to oneshot light hulls/unprotected heavies - a feat it rarely pulled off prior to the critical update. You also use booster. Talk about statpadding, huh.

    A Crisis Drone Tweak

Well, in terms of game economy and the current drone model where higher cost = higher reward, Crisis is not overrated - you pay an incredibly high price, but you get to have the effects of (not quite) booster, (the same as) defender, and (more than) trickster whenever you want, one at a time. If you were to balance it along with the other drones, you would of course equivalently nerf the supply cost of the drone, and then nerf the supply values and/or the cooldown of the drone - similar changes to what would have to happen Booster and Defender, which would likely receive their own supply cost and effect nerfs, along with maybe a duration extension for booster. In terms of balancing on the ladder system, though? I hate the system, don't get me wrong - but I wouldn't really change much with the drone. Crisis is, as far as I can tell, justified (from the developers' point of view) to sit atop its lofty peak, as it has the highest requirements for obtaining and maintaining it. This is how the current system is designed, unfortunately - a drone with a higher cost brings with it a higher reward, hence Booster, Defender, and Crisis are the three most powerful drones. I both despise this quote from a previous QnA for what it says about the game, but simultaneously enjoy it for what it reveals: "We definitely understand that set some limits for new players on what drones they may use. We are setting these limits on purpose. New players have the simple 'Brutus' drone to use at first. It doesn't consume batteries and gives a passive boost to supplies, while all the other drones introduce more opportunities and strategies with their different mechanisms. So it's harder to play with these drones equipped. Earning crystals is not that hard nowadays. So by ranking up and earning more crystals, you can unlock and buy these drones when you have enough skill to use them." Balance is irrelevant, drones are set up like how augments were prior to the price change, and also how they are now - the most powerful augments are the ones locked to Ultra Containers, the ones that are the most difficult to obtain. Look no further than the Blaster, Driver, and Assault nerfs for more proof.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

I provided evidence as for why Magnum never would consistently do 2k+ damage per shot. Evidently, you aren't listening. It seems like you magnum players are looking for things to complain about now that the no damage bug is fixed. You really are not convincing me of anything except that your memory is seriously flawed - the Mandela effect/rose tinted glasses are real, I guess.

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

Unfortunately, yes. If you're aware of how props interact on client vs on the server, Magnum now deals damage 100% of the time, and is back to being broken instead of held down by a bug. I'm not denying that Gauss, Shaft, and Autocannon are problematic, but talk about the pot calling the kettle black...

    Let's Discuss Magnum!

I'll just leave this here: Magnum - Tanki Online Wiki (archive.org) Edit: also this lol Micro-upgrades Magnum - Tanki Online Wiki (tankiwiki.com) which still shows the old dmg range because the wiki hasn't updated yet Edit 2: a collection of mk8 magnums, once you check their base damage, not in fact doing 1900 to 2330 damage: https://imgur.com/a/lCTIhyH
  9. Driver's output on Viking required you to put effort in by getting the kills in the first place. Booster has you...hit 3, and oneshot someone. And it works with any hull, and you can do this way more than how often you could pull out viking ODs with Driver. I don't think it's fair to point fingers at Driver being mildly stronger than other drones when Defender, Booster, Crisis(with enough supplies) and Lifeguard are all leagues ahead. As for ap and emp status effects - can we not normalize rock paper scissors? Most f2ps don't have access to multiple status augments and immunities, and saying "just use a status to counter it" is not meaningful - you cannot justify something being overpowered if against the majority of the playerbase just because it has a counter available to only a few. Look at Autocannon and Blunderbuss - both grotesquely broken, but justified by the existence of armadillo. Currently, status effects are a set of five cancers (ap, emp, stun, crits, and heating) where you pay money to get access to these cancers and their immunities. Anyone else see a problem with this? @DestrotankAI9 you might get something out of this Edit: actually, what cancers do f2ps have access to? AP Magnum and EMP Smoky/Rail for if you were there during their battle passes, Autocannon for crits, Dragon's Breath for Heating(formerly, before they nuked hammer)?

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

Sorry, but I am here to discuss balance - you being offended at the way that I've interpreted your arguments (or lack thereof) is, unfortunately, not part of the discussion, and this tangent has been horribly detracting to the topic at hand. I have argued my case, and you have demonstrated repeatedly a lack of ability to understand or discuss properly. I could be wrong, but I have yet to see good arguments for why. If you would like to provide them, go ahead.

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

First and foremost - I've never been toxic, I just don't think your arguments hold any real value, and I treat them as such. I do not and will not sugarcoat my thoughts when it comes to balance - serious arguments warrant more respect. I brought up how you were flipping between defending Gauss's broken splash and saying it needs a nerf in my post here And as for the Stun Striker information - I brought it up as an example, saying that you don't call it bad despite it being overall worse than Gauss's sniping shot mechanic wise, so you can't call Gauss's overpowered splash distribution justified as a result of the mechanics, which are better than Stun Strikers. You proceeded to cherrypick that "but the missiles accelerate and they track" - which, yes, we know, and doesn't change that Striker has a more difficult situation with its lock than Gauss. Your point is that Gauss is justified by its limitations. I am telling you that the limitations are not enough for how busted it is.

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

I believe in the discord, they call what you are doing "waffling." that is, talking nonsense, new. You gotta argue properly if you want people to listen to you. @Newnewnew for reference - a list of actions which make it hard to take your arguments seriously flipping between "gauss needs a nerf" and "gauss doesn't need a nerf" bringing up irrelevant information about turrets (yes, we know striker missiles accelerate. that doesn't change that they're projectiles and have travel time, which was the original point, thanks.) flipping between "gauss isn't as easy to use, you can get your aim dislodged easily" and "i never said gauss was hard to use" strawmanning the scenario of a group kill pointing out areas where a turret is less broken and expecting that to fix for where it is (you don't say "Stun Striker doesn't singlehandedly win ASL games anymore so it's not broken" so why would you say that Gauss is only broken in ASL and SGE and treat that as justification?" I can find a few more, if you'd like. As for firsthand experience vs statistics - while it is true that neither can be used alone, I have used Gauss before on an alt, crunched the numbers knowing who I can and can't kill when, played it, recorded the success of the interactions that I myself have had with it - and yep, Gauss's splash is broken. Exactly what I thought. Maybe your experience with Gauss has had you finding out its limits as a result of not having played around with dissimilar turrets and not being comfortable as a result of lack of awareness of its role, maybe your matchmaking experience has been particularly rough. However, the numbers, as well as the further anecdotal experience of most of the recent commenters, do not disprove my claim - something with Gauss's sniping shot needs to change.

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

I have yet to see evidence to the contrary. You haven't provided any evidence aside from anecdote, and you have not argued a consistent point throughout your posts. You haven't given me any reasons for why the Gauss splash distribution is justified; all you have done is strawman the specifics of my examples and ignored the provided statistics, giving unrelated information that we all know about the turret. I will gladly wait until a valid point presents itself, but until then - have fun trolling, I suppose. nvm just looked at your profile, you bought the emp gauss battle pass, of course you want gauss to be strong.

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

I won't try to argue with you on when to use which mode of Striker firing, but you seriously argued with this post here first and then this post defending gauss's ridiculous splash, and then you turn around here and "don't know why that" - a gauss splash nerf - "hasn't happened yet." Quit trolling and pick a side. If you changed your viewpoint, say it clearly.
  17. Abellia

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

Regarding stun missiles - yes, they accelerate. However, they are still projectiles, and are still relatively slow. They can still be dodged. This is irrelevant. As for range - the locked shots of Striker are it's "long range" mode, even as a mid range turret. Also - "I never said it was hard to use." So what's your justification for its current splash? Unless you'd like to argue that it isn't broken.
  18. Abellia

    July Challenge I

same, vampire isida isn't horrifically broken without defender or crisis backing it up, unlike stun striker or emp gauss where even with brutus you can dominate easily. I predict Blunderbuss with Autocannon next though. Just to push Armadillo harder.

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

None of the Gauss skins are in skin containers, and neither are its only distinct augments. "Not premium" my (redacted for the sake of forum rules). Also - what does Gauss needing to be exposed matter? You wouldn't call Striker's Stunning Missiles augment bad because "a slight block can throw off it's locking mechanism and force you to re initiate the lock" so why would you say that for Gauss? Especially because they have similar locking times - and Stunning Missiles has to deal with an actual projectile that can be dodged with cover. Even if Gauss is less broken than Stunning Missiles, my point still stands - it is not difficult to lock on to a group of tanks and shell out a point, especially in Siege or Assault where tanks are clustered together constantly. As for people surviving your salvo - an mk7+ Gauss with a maxed drone and boosted damage will be able to comfortably oneshot unprotected medium and light hulls, as well as oneshot damaged light hulls. A practical example to make use of this would be in siege, where the point takes at minimum 25 seconds to be captured - more if there are a group of tanks there. This gives you a too-perfect opportunity to get a group kill once their supplies run out thanks to the lengthy timer of the point. Gauss has no right dealing as much damage as it does over as large of an area as it does. I want the splash on the sniping shot nerfed because what it does is ridiculous and the justification is that it is "hard to use" - as good as none at all, for the "difficulty" in Gauss currently.
  20. Abellia

    Let's Discuss Gauss!

The next best splash distribution is either Magnum or Thunder. Magnum has radii of 2/5/20 with a distribution of 100/50/5, and Thunder has radii 1/5/12 with a distribution of 100/90/25. Magnum covers a large area, but falls off very quickly, and Thunder covers a small area, but deals relatively high damage throughout it. Now, let's take a look at Gauss. It has radii of 2/12/20, which wouldn't be too bad if it had Magnum's distribution, except for some reason, it gets to have it nearly the same as Thunder - 100/90/5. It's frankly ridiculous for the amount of damage it does, and I still think it's unjustified as long as Gauss's sniping shot remains hitscan, even with the recovery period nerf. They should either change the distribution, or change it to be a projectile. It should happen soon, anyways. Gauss has a competitor now as the "premium turret" - as evidenced by Tesla's "measly" 1088 dps with infinite firing and a way to extend its range, so I imagine they'll take some of the bustedness away from Gauss.

    Let's Discuss Drones!

I'm gonna leave something from the QnA here as for why I think the drone balance is going out the window: "We definitely understand that set some limits for new players on what drones they may use. We are setting these limits on purpose. New players have the simple 'Brutus' drone to use at first. It doesn't consume batteries and gives a passive boost to supplies, while all the other drones introduce more opportunities and strategies with their different mechanics. So it's harder to play with these drones equipped. Earning crystals is not that hard nowadays. So by ranking up and earning more crystals, you can unlock and buy these drones when you have enough skill to use them." tldr; go use booster/defender/trickster because they're "harder" to use and f2ps can maintain them so they get to be strong

    Removal of Striker

Back when the original post was made, Thunder had already been converted, MLH had the base speed buff, and RRE already had the slowdown. Check your dates. I won't deny that Striker was significantly worse then, but I don't think it was garbage. This, honestly. It went from being decently rewarding if mastered to playing the game for you with just a little bit of effort. Double damage crits and sledghammer reload have turned it into a balance-destroying monster, I'm almost ashamed to play any augment other than RRE because it feels too damn easy for what you get.
  23. Abellia

    Let's Discuss Striker!

Best value augment in the game ? Also, Uranium is falling off imo, you get more benefit out of MLH's ability to spew out missiles rather than the power boost from Uranium, and the double damage crits are too good to go without.
  24. Abellia

    Removal of Striker

Nah, back then you still had MLH for comparable reload to Sledgehammer (which many would have called viable at the time even though Gauss existed, so why would you call MLH bad?), Uranium for light hull oneshots, RRE for hitting at more intriguing angles (let's be real, RRE isn't an augment you butt heads with. there's no statistical advantage, so the reload buff hasn't done much to it), and cyclone from TJR. It was just niche, more difficult to use, and arguably not worth it for how specialized it was, and now it's blatantly overpowered if you put three braincells into the turret. I do find your original post comical though. "No skill based. Just drive shoot in one space, pray it hits or even kills someone." The character development into an RRE player ?
  25. Abellia

    Tesla

Of course, you're right! All balance changes are fundamentally irrelevant. Everyone has access to the same tools, so the game is always balanced - you can just take the OP equipment yourself! The game is complete, hurrah! No more balance patches, ever, because balance is here, always was, and always will be!
