In retrospect this just turned out to be 15 regular containers for the exorbitant price of 900 Tankoins. Shame, as it was a really nice idea for an event and it was nicely put together - but seemingly impossible to complete without trading, which was a confusing (and expensive) mess. I must remember not to sign up for these things in the future.
-
I need a blue transmission. pages.tankionline.com/build-a-tank/trade/XIpxBmxhrctfwgo7wpnu (Red Turret)
-
Also, the daily encore "Open a regular container and get rewards for all your hard work" mission should be removed. You can't just open one, and to get anything even marginally interesting from containers you need to open fifteen at a time, as the last one will give usually give something. Forcing new players who maybe only have half a dozen containers in the bank to open everything at once is unfair and cheats them out of bigger rewards.
-
I'm not sure it's that OTT, although I admit I'm just basing it on my own playing patterns. I really just do my three daily missions which are usually worth around 500 BP, sometimes I play more on the ultra events - but even if someone averages 1000 BP every single day, that's 5000 days (13 years) of playing. For one turret/hull combo. There is basically more in that Trophies tab than a player can hope to achieve in their entire lifetime. In order to get any one of those rewards within 2-3 years, you'd need to be earning 4000+ BP per day, every day of your life. I know the Tanki devs don't have a particularly good grip on reality, but even for them that's an insane assumption ?
-
If you are referring to the missions under the Trophies tab, reputation points are earned automatically simply by playing with certain turrets or hulls. I wouldn't bother though, 5 MILLION reputation points will take you at least 10-15 years (per turret/hull!) they aren't missions that will ever be completed.
-
Time of course, as we all know, is relative.
-
Of course even assuming you have nothing better to do with your life, five MILLION battle points will probably take you at least five years to earn - during which time you'll be forced to play with that specific hull/turret combination - so don't hold your breath.
-
The new special missions are fun. I don't know if they are the same for all players, mine are to earn 5000000 battle points with Dictator and Striker - not my favourite hull, not my favourite turret. I basically just do my three missions each day, a little more at weekends maybe. Did a quick test today with that combination and earned just over 1000 points from three missions (one I entered two minutes before it ended). By my calculations if I play Tanki every day for 13 years, I'll be done with that mission. I get that it shouldn't be too easy, but...really?

update Patch Update #715 - Released 10th February 2023
Iteroparous replied to Marcus in News Archive
At the risk of sounding like a broken record - are you ever going to fix the zoom problem on the Mac client? -
...and the zoom problem in the Mac client is still not fixed, making any and all other patch updates pretty irrelevant anyway.
-
The game client on Mac is completely screwed up since the last update. Everything is zoomed in - the game can be played, but you need to keep quitting and restarting after each battle as you can't get back to the main interface. The garage is half hidden, and it's impossible to open containers, etc. I have tried uninstalling, downloading the latest version, and reinstalling - but it's the same problem.
-
Client after 1/20 server restart -- everything's zoomed, what's going on?
Iteroparous replied to ImAtWork in Archive
No, it's the latest (Mac, dmg) version - I just tested again and it's the same problem - everything is zoomed. The game itself is playable, but you need to keep quitting and restarting after each battle as there's no way to continue or get back to the main screen. -
Client after 1/20 server restart -- everything's zoomed, what's going on?
Iteroparous replied to ImAtWork in Archive
I'm getting this too, it's really annoying and a client reinstall hasn't helped. Everything is zoomed. The game itself is playable, but you need to keep quitting and restarting in order to be able to use the interface in any way. -
And good luck to everyone who is trying to log in!
-
No, you actually can't (if you could, I wouldn't have posted)...the audio continues regardless and the stream just keeps restarting itself.
-
1. Can you please stop autoplaying the Youtube streams in the News section in the client? They are impossible to pause or mute and they play in the background whilst you're in a game. It's really, really, really annoying. 2. It should be "Allies HAVE" scored a goal/captured a flag/whatever. Not "Allies HAS"...also really annoying!

I'm not sure if anyone (developers) ever reads this, but... 1.) I was more than happy to spend 500 coins on the Gold Tier, and have on several occasions purchased coin packs in order to allow me to do this...I'm not one of these privileged fools who thinks they have the right to play for free forever without ever giving anything back - over the years the enjoyment I've had from this game is absolutely worth paying something for, and I'd have continued to do that indefinitely. TRIPLING the price and at the same time adjusting the required star levels to complete was a huge mistake. I will no longer be purchasing anything. Not due to something as banal as principle, but due to the fact that it simply isn't worth it as a recreational player. If Tanki developers have been looking for people's limits and tolerance levels, then congratulations - you found and far exceeded them. 2.) I'm sure in light of the above there's even less incentive for developers to fix this, but...the game still regularly crashes in sniper mode using Shaft. When I say regularly, I mean on average once every two games. Each time it happens of course, it's a complete loss of all points, crystals, and kills accumlated until that point...and there's now no way of getting back into the same game to pick up where you left off either. This seems quite a fundamental bug to me, and it's existed as long as the HTML5 version has. I'd have thought professional pride should be enough of a reason to fix this, but it seems not.

Haha! No, I wasn't being serious at all. It was just meant as a humorous post/roast...I think perhaps my sense of irony needs to be turned down a notch...

The current system of daily and weekly missions is quite predictable, some are enjoyable and relatively easy to complete but some of them are really difficult or time-consuming. So I thought it might be good to discuss alternative mission ideas, and I have a few to start with: Die without knowing how 3 times in one battle An easy one this, simply play the game as normal in any mode and suddenly explode in a fiery mess without quite knowing what on earth hit you. Get one-shot-killed three times in one Team Death Match Another easy one. Make sure your hull is at full strength and you have a shield boost activated, then wait to be one-shot-killed anyway. Gold plz Gold plz Gold plz You have a nice little collection of Gold Boxes. When someone starts begging for one, wait for them to be as far away from the drop zone as possible before pressing #6, then watch them get stressed trying to get there in time. Bonus points for asking them what difference they think a measly 1000 crystals is going to make to anything. Sacrificial lamb In your desperation to get away from Wasp’s bomb, accidentally end up sitting right on top of it instead and in the moments before your death, wonder if it wouldn’t be a good idea if the devs made it so that you could actually do that deliberately and get massive kudos from your teammates by shielding them from the blast. Almost catch a gold box in one battle This can be tricky, because you really don’t want to risk actually catching it. The best strategy is to be the only one waiting under the falling box, with no other players in sight around you in any direction for as far as the eye can see. Start making plans for what you are going to do with your whopping 1000 crystals, then suddenly find yourself buried under a mountain of tanks that appeared from absolutely nowhere at the last second. Implement a “Hoppers first” strategy in all Rugby and CTF battles This is probably something we all do anyway, so it’s an easy mission to complete. Any game you play, in any mode, simply make sure you kill all the hoppers immediately, on principle. It doesn’t matter which team they are in. Bonus points could be awarded if they aren’t carrying a flag or a ball (although they usually are of course). Change modules and turrets once in any battle When you enter a battle and realise that the matchmaking algorithms were designed by a team of drunken monkeys and that all other players have fully-upgraded modules against your specific turret, and are using turrets that you have no module to protect yourself against; it’s time to waste precious seconds switching to a far inferior setup in the deluded hope that you won’t still be toast within a few seconds. Take one of the bottom three places in the losers team in 15 battles This should be an easy one, especially in combination with the above. It helps enormously that the matchmaking system often throws you into battles with only two minutes left on the clock and zero chance of influencing anything. Lose a point when it reaches 97% in Control Points We’ve all been there. You’re just about to move away from an almost-captured point B when - with no respect whatsoever for the amount of time and supplies you’ve spent almost capturing it - you are suddenly and violently killed and by the time you’ve respawned the same point is suddenly red. Enter supply cooldown at the worst possible moment in one Rugby or CTF battle Time your speed and/or shield boost so that it runs out and enters cooldown 20 meters from the goal when carrying a flag or a ball, making those last few meters the most frustrating and nerve-wracking ever. Bonus points if the enemy team kill you in this situation, and double bonus points if you actually needed it for the win and there’s only thirty seconds left on the clock. Deliberately drive into a Shaft’s guidance laser in TDM You see it. It’s not like it’s even moving. It’s right there in front of you. Waiting. But they probably aren’t paying attention, right? Flip upside down in any non-Parkour battle There are plenty of ways to accomplish this of course, the real trick is to do it when you don’t want to. Because let’s face it, most of us couldn’t flip our tanks if we tried. So don’t try! Hit a mine. Take a broadside shot to the hull whilst flying over a ridge at speed. Misjudge how far you can edge over the side of a bridge to get that all-important shot. The possibilities are endless. Wonder whether or not you equipped a drone in one Siege battle You are unlikely to ever regret anything more than spending your hard-earned crystals on a drone. It all sounds really good, you save up, buy it, buy a load of over-priced batteries to go with it, spent goodness knows how many more crystals upgrading it, then forget to equip it in battle. Except…you didn’t forget it equip it. It’s right there, hovering above you, making absolutely no noticeable difference whatsoever, as effective as an underwater hairdryer. What’s yours is mine Daydream about what life would be like if mines were in-game currency, making us all suddenly rich beyond our wildest dreams instead of sitting on a stockpile of equipment we are never going to live long enough to use. I'm sure there are plenty more - what easily-completed missions would you like to see in the game?

Given the complexity of these new experiments, I thought that I'd try to provide a quick guide to help people. 1.) Firstly, you'll want to select your best turret and hull. What's that you say? You only have one decent combination above Mk6 because you don't spend your entire life and all your savings playing Tanki? Oh...well, you'll just need to take that, I suppose. Let's hope it's Shaft or Gauss on a heavy hull, otherwise you're not going to have a lot of fun I'm afraid. 2.) Secondly, choose a map that you would like to play on. Oh wait...forget that, you can't do that anymore. Ignore this step. No, not even the size. Sorry. 3.) Thirdly, check your missions and spend the few crystals you have saved up in rotating them until you find something you think you might be able to complete. Hint: ignore the special missions, they are specifically designed to be impossible. You want to avoid anything to do with capturing flags and balls, destroying the Juggernaut seventeen times, finishing in the top 3 of the winning team, or dealing ten squillion damage to the enemy. 4.) Time to choose a game mode! Don't let all the choices fool you, this is actually far easier than it sounds - they are basically all just Magnum Fodder (AKA Team Deathmatch) nowadays, even though they might be called something different. 5.) Adjust your settings so that it actually looks like you are playing Lego or Minecraft. This won't help your FPS at all, but when you complain about how slow the game is later, you'll be able to say "I've already tried that" later when someone asks you. Now you're ready to enter the game! 6.) The instant you have spawned, you'll want to frantically hit "2" on your keyboard repeatedly, whilst the game automatically chooses a random way for you to spend the next one point five seconds. A helpful onscreen message will inform you of your chosen fate before you die: Armor is destroyed Burning Freeze Stunned (Supplies are disabled) 7.) If you somehow managed to get your shields up fast enough and not die, the next step is to find somewhere to hide. This way, you might have a chance of leaving the battle with a very respectable K/D ratio of 0:1. Of course, you'll need a bit of luck on your side as trying to get to these hiding places through the rush-hour traffic that is the rest of your team isn't going to be easy. If you've ever sat in a Bumper Car at a fairground, you'll know exactly what to expect here. 8.) You should under no circumstances - no matter how tempted you might be - stick your nose out from behind your safe place to see what's going on. Trust me, you'll regret it the instant you do it and you'll need to go back to step 6.) so just keep your head down, and wait for the battle to end.

Whilst I appreciate the need to run experiments like this, and enjoy seeing a lot of the old maps back in rotation - the experiment itself just is not working. I don't know what "positive feedback" you got on the test servers, or from whom...but their judgement clearly can't be trusted. 1.) First off, 32 tanks on a map - no matter how big - is too many. The FPS rate even on a fast connection sinks too low for the game to be playable, and I don't really want to tweak settings to the point where everything is pixelated just so I can play without lagging. It seems very logical to me that the number of tanks per map should be based on the map size. This isn't rocket science, but large maps should have a maximum of 10/12 players per team. 2.) Currently, half the time you are dead before you can even get your shields up. I spend more time spawning now than anything else, and getting to the other side of the map is nigh on impossible. I don't want to start having to level up a long-range turret and a heavy hull just to be able to play the game, but right now all short and medium range turrets are obsolete, as are all light and medium hulls (although I will say that I'm delighted to see the stupid Hopper, which has completely ruined both Rugy and Capture the Flag, is now equally as useless). 3.) The missions need to be adjusted. Now I'm just wasting crystals refreshing missions until I see something that's possible to complete. Top 3 on the winning team, and anything to do with flags or balls is just completely pointless now. Considering I also rotate out the harder missions which require you to play a dozen times (destroy 100 enemies, deal 270000 damage, earn 1500 points, etc) there's not a lot left - and completing three missions a day almost always results in a net loss in crystals. 4.) The Special missions...yeah, right. Maybe if I had no life. Not related to this experiment, but I never post here so I might as well get this off my chest as well - can we do something about mines? I currently have 40000. Even if I remember to set one every time I can, I'll never even come close to using them. Can I sell or exchange them? Can you stop giving so many away or drastically decrease the timeout between using them? I also think each team should have an in-map pit stop where one tank at a time can slowly repair themselves (we can pay for it in mines, or something).
