Dusserdorf (did I spell correctly?) Is flat.

True, and Dusseldorf is also disliked by a lot of players.

I knew there was an 'L' in there xD and it's actually pretty nice for siege using a splash turret. I used to not like it but now i feel ok to it.

Instead of removing the wall which devs need alot of time, you just need to set the boundary for self destruct tighter on this map. Some maps where I hop onto the wall boundary, i will just instantly die. I saw Crussher one of the players i know TRY to "crush" you.?

I frankly disagree. I know how much people hate hoppers and want to see them suffer, but invisible self-destruct zones (just like invisible walls) are generally bad level design. Instead, a vertical wall could be placed there, to provide a physical barrier.

On that note, I also think that there should be a 1-3 second delay before self-destructing from a kill zone. It won't allow players to abuse it, but it will prevent inconvenient deaths from accidentally driving into a kill zone when you didn't intend to. Instead of dying instantly, you would have a couple seconds to get back into the playable area before you die. But I guess that's a whole separate idea.

isn't this a part of development plans?

Yes, it is (but Maf probably hasn't visited that wiki page in ages ).

I like this idea, but, it would be even better if some ramps were built on the map to allow even normal tanks to access those ledges.

wow, its a cool idea.

just thinking of a quick fix. Something to do with changing the maps in my opinion would be sticky with the devs though i do agree the map could be improved and changed. Totally agree on the warning to have a self destruct. There were times i just exploded not knowing i stepped on forbidden ground.

Totally, nearly all maps require a rework like this to limit the Hopper-only region, that is plain unfair.

Hopper takes the flag, uses OD and leaves the flag at the top of the tallest building in the game. Now be a good spectator and watch as you can't do anything. There are many things like the ledge mystic suggested that requires some changes.

Well, some places where non hoppers can reach shouldn't be removed cause it's really fun to get there. Because really sometimes on the ledge is only way of getting flags.

I mentioned this particular spot because its almost impossible to get destroyed there. To be honest I wouldn't mind some high places that hopper can access to as long as the player is able to shoot back and destroy the hoppers. But in this particular case, this shouldn't be allowed since it can be a one way advantage and use that area as a shield without being exposed.

Yes, I agree. I was talking about the fact that though the hopper can be shot down by long-range turret. You can't go there to return your team's flag yourself in any way possible, unless and  until you yourself take hopper, this disadvantage is quite the problem. And like this many issues regrading the hopper mechanism remain intact which needs to be addressed.

Urban

Notes:

Spoiler

Medium map of a central urban "downtown" type setting, with urban park in the middle and covered avenues to and from enemy positions on edges.  While not a unique concept map, the layout lends itself to careful "peek'a'boo" tactic type game play and thoughtful planning of travel around the map.

Thoughts:

Spoiler

One could argue that one side of the map is far more exposed than the other, but the opposite side has less area to manuvere in and use, forcing both sides to mae use of the center of the map for serious game play.

Okay, so, since this place has gotten awful quiet, and I've been a little more inclined to make maps again (not that I wasn't, just time), I'm proposing something.

I want to make a map based upon requests.  People submit ideas, I add them each to a poll, those in turn get voted on, the one with the most votes wins, I make it, or if any other map makers are available and interested, we do a collab, but I'll do it if necessary.

So c'mon let's get some ideas going.
