Looks great so far!

How much time do you usually need to spend on creating such a map?

This map did not take me a lot of time

Idea for a map:

iIDPhgv.png

This sketch is just to help explain the basic idea of the map, not how it has to look exactly.

The map is like a long road with covers placed along it, with a small road on the side which has no covers, but let's players shoot at the tanks that are hidden behind the covers.

The point of the map is to concentrate all tanks in a small space to make the fighting very intense - a constant chaotic tug-of-war - especially in capture modes where the teams are forced to try to take and hold on to ground in order to score goals, either in the middle or close to the ends. The covers gives defenders very good protection and ability to defend, which means that taking ground becomes very "bloody". The small road on the side becomes very important to control as it let's you fire on the hidden tanks, but is constantly changing hands due to the lack of covers on it.

That's the idea of the map at least, but it doesn't have to be exactly this way. For example, maybe some covers are necessary on the small road. What matters is how the map should create a battle like this.

I've been thinking of Massacre and wondered if you could take that concept further and make maps that looks a bit like this (within TO's limits):

Would maps with shapes such as these in the typical TO map sizes be possible for TO?

Would players enjoy maps like these? Not like these two examples specifically, but the idea of having uneven, natural looking terrain, with maybe trees, water, rocks, etc. You get the idea.

Good idea.

Although I think we would really need the planned dynamic suspension update before introducing any more maps like these.

The Track

So, a long time ago, someone (Adriel) said to me "Hey Fog, you should make a race track map.  Those are dope."  I, fog, said "Yeah, I should some day, that would be dope."  Time passed and Fog made a race track map.

This map is a progressively harder and harder race track in a figure 8 with elevation switches, jumps, and some obstacles.

Disclaimer:  When I originally released this video, I stated I would re-film it, due to the poor frame rate capture from TTT.  After attempting to re-film with another method, it became clear the very nature of the map pushed the TTT too far, thus the re-filming was scraped and I am officially sharing this video for this map.  Note that some portions of this video will appear choppy and jerky.  It is an artifact of the testing tool frame rate when processing props.

That's a nice map there, if Tanki still hosts official events from their side, maybe we can have a modified version of this and could be prepared for a racing tournament.

That would be great.  Just message way ahead of time, I get busy sometimes and end up not looking at this for weeks sometimes.

Group B

Another race track map based upon the inspiration of grueling Group B Racing from the 80s.  Rally race type track with 180 turns, jumps, hill climbs and descents, and long stretches of open road for speed.  Not a serious map except for maybe event type engagements.

(Oddly, when testing this track and filming, it actually lived up to the Group B ideal, taking MANY MANY retakes to film, as some parts are very treacherous at speed.  Easily the hardest map to film to date for this channel.)
