Well, get some protections against it then.

Lol, unless he has like 48-50% Protection he will still be two-shotted ( I assume that he survives one DD Thunder Shot with a sliver of health, without using DA)

thunder m2 with double damage keep 2 shotting me, a hornet and freeze m2, and its annoying af.

A 2nd Lt. needs more than 1 module to be able to compete.  You should have bought a thunder module during 50% sale...

And use some DAs...

Updating above I'm getting frequently 2 shot by thunders even with dictator m3, and I'm not facing higher than mued m2 thunders... It's ridiculous and I don't know how something such as sledgehammer was born in the minds of the devs.

I mean stock thunder is devastating enough, then you cut 30% of reload with 0 drawbacks? Because whatever drawback is written in the wiki definitely does not work.

TBH the only thunders I find annoying are the sledgehammer thunders.

The account I have thunder m3 on still devastates and it doesn't even have sledgehammer... Yet. Maybe with the sale I'll be able to buy it. Some 25kish away. I don't want to imagine how much my scores will improve after that.

love the gun, dont waste mony on modes however, lots of double damage drugs are essential

dont try shooting people at long range, it only gives away your position and does very little damage.

I'm MUing my thunder because I have nothing left to achieve with it.

And players are saying that it isn't powerful, smh.

I've had a losing match where the lowest player in the enemy team had more score than our 3rd, and I still had a 1.75 D/L throughout it (And it was a slaughter).

Assuming the wiki is correct and sledgehammer truly brings the range of max damage down to 5 meters at m4, due to the linearity of the decrease, at 100m (Stock range of max damage), sledgehammer will deal 68.3% of max damage, while stock thunder deals 100%. Too bad sledgehammer also shoots 30% more frequently, so this difference is negated. At both higher and lower ranges than 100m, sledgehammer still provides more DPM.

So... It's a direct upgrade.

Interesting, so if this alteration barely has any downside, isn't it considered an upgrade then? I'm pretty sure it meets the definition of an upgrade.

Upgrades make a weapon more powerful in any situation. Alterations on the other hand, can make a weapon shine in one certain situation but perform terribly when faced with a different one it wasn't meant for.

It can't be a surprise that many of the alterations are OP - and thus actual upgrades...

My bad, it's 25%, so it's very slightly disadvantaged at max damage range.

Ok if my math is correct, sledgehammer only loses to stock thunder between 80 and 120 meters, with the highest difference being a 11% dpm loss at exactly 100 meters.

See, what I don't understand is the mechanic of maximum and minimum damage ranges. From what I'm seeing, when you're in the maximum damage range, you will deal random damage within the damage ranges, in M4's case, it would be between 740 and 1,020 with the average damage being 880 damage.

But then the minimum damage states that the damage decreases linearly until it reaches the end of the range, and after that, it would deal 50% damage. But at what number of damage does it start decreasing linearly. Do you know what number it is?

And if we don't know, I doubt the devs would give us this information, for obvious reasons.

I've noticed that M4 Sledgehammer would deal above 800 damage at maybe 80-100 metres. So with double damage, that destroys M4 medium hulls with two shots which are dispensed faster than Stock Thunder.

When you keep shooting, the extra shots add up. And then you have Small Calibre Charging Machine that does less damage and reloads slower than Sledgehammer Rounds. It's all confuffled. And I'm sure that they picked favourites with Viking's overdrive since Sledgehammer Rounds shoots 4 more shots than Stock Thunder yet Small Calibre Charging Machine shoots the same number of shots as Stock Thunder. There is definitely a bias there.
