Anyone got their hands on Pulsar or Helios yet?

I wonder which one is stronger currently.

It may seem like it's Pulsar 100%, but actually Helios seems to be quite a killer, especially with booster or crisis.

Can we all just agree that augments can be cancerous in different directions and do not have a set scale?

 

Pulsar is cancerous for its status application. Helios is cancerous for its burst damage. They fit different gameplays. Pulsar does not excel at burst damage. Helios does not have status effects.

Helios deals quite the crazy damage per second, noted burst. DRAINS tanks health down with ease, prot barely helps.

Pulsar, basic ricochet with a crazy multi status application on crits. It does have a very low range compared to Helios which is considered a sniper turret.

Both are strong, pulsar falls behind because it simply does not have the dps helios does. Also it wants to crit ideally on every target, which does not happen, RNG based, also people can use immunities and paladin OD's to nullifie most of the effect.

My personal verdict is both can be very volatile, though pulsar genuinely more face-able unless by many because of the availability of paladin od and mammy od. Helios will get you quick and easy kills.

I have both and i like helios since you can rapid fire and kill.. Pulsar, you have to rely on the crit hit to deal damage

Also depends if he was using booster/crisis or not. But usually I also manage to survive them, you just need to be careful when Helios player is around to be able to find cover when needed.

Like the 2019 SCCM vs Sledgehammer, they do the same thing in different ways. 

 

One of them has near unavoidable projectiles with Stock damage and the ability to keep its damage output going at full strength after a kill. The other has more clumped projectiles, easier to dodge but will deliver higher damage in a shorter space of time and disable repair kits more efficiently and has a bit better trickle damage after running out of ammo.

 

All of that said, Plasma Torch is better in strict 1 v 1 engagements. Beserk will excel when there are multiple enemies that can be taken down at a time. If you took down one, you would get the ball rolling to take down the others. So the best course would be to start off with Plasma Torch and switch to Beserk if the map and enemy team compositions fit its gimmick.

I saw the berserk augment is very good along with the 10 sec supercharge from dictator. It gives a very big damage. I recomend using berserk with dictator and booster.

Reference; rico prot is really valuable against both of these, ofc helios crits r crazy op so avoid at many costs if one is supercharged and u dont have armadillo. But as you see, these are the range limits and their damage values, needless to say pulsar cannot do anything to you if you're over 50m away, I am unsure if viking OD increases it's range. As for Helios, be as far as you possibly can or curve often to ensure they miss the burst,

Only melee turrets get extended range. Other turrets/augments keep the ranges they already have. All that changes is damage multiplier and reload multiplier. 

 

Because of that, some augments have innate advantages over others with Viking's OD. Minus-Field Stabiisation can reach much farther than Stock for a negligible decrease in firing rate. Magnetron, Cryotron and Jamming Twins can reach farther than Stock. Subcalibre Rounds Thunder and Assault Rounds Smoky will shoot the same as Stock but they will hit faster as their projectile speeds are increased. 

 

From what I saw of Helios videos, its reload coefficient is thankfully higher than x1 so it shoots slower than it does outside of the OD.

I can't believe I have been sleeping on Minus Field for so long. It's so fun to play and you can bounce your shots very effectively. It's a shame it gets overshadowed by the brain dead Plasma-Torch and now Helios...

I just got Helios last night on my low legend account and it is stupidly strong with Crisis.  40/50/60 kill games regularly with hopper.  You can't run into a group of people but you can just endlessly pick people apart just outside of medium range turrets.

Torch plasma still get get a kill or 2, minus field hard to hit target at long range continously, andrine while i die too quickly at medium range to benefit the low health damage boost

Try to use Berserk, it's a very efficient augment considering Rico is no longer an endless projectile machine, hence high level rico with berserk makes you go on and on and helps a lot in MM.

I will try that,

It works, paired with hopper XT and blaster drone.

3 way to make lots of kills.

Was the Vikings OD firing rate multiplier increased for scout or railgun in general? I met a player using it today and it had quite an impressive firing rate with the OD.

That was my augment of choice for years...the only real negative was the rate of fire. I haven't used it on my new account, but someone said there is less penalty now. Is that true?

The shot reload penalty was reduced from +20% to +15% in the augment update of April 2020, and was again reduced from +15% to +10% to help facilitate its presence among the other Ricochets who had their damage more front-loaded. 

 

I've tried to use it again afterits needed buff but I still prefer Adrenaline to it. And now funnily enough, Adrenaline now gets beaten out by Plasma Torch and Beserk because of unga burst damage. With that said, every Ricochet augment is now good in a vacuum, including Destabilised Plasma who finally got its splash damage distribution fixed after 4 years.

Berserck augment description says, it will fire fast. But  the firing rate is normal and I did not see improvement when compared to magnetron or normal mode.

The time between 2 shots is reduced by 25%. There is a clear difference between Stock and Berserk's firing rate. 

Youbcan compare it in a private battle. A Berserk shoots 10 projectiles ~1 second faster than Stock.

It does not change in any way, but make sure in the private battle settings to enable the Augments and Micro-upgrades settings. 

 

If you don't want to do that, just compare them in a Matchmaking battle. Or look at Youtubers' recent videos.
