Rico Thunder Fire is a good module too

*2 sad for Ricochet, Thunder and Firebirds*

i guess another good set of protections would be

Twins

Rico

Smoky

basically the fast impact weapons

Welp.... I decided to play fair by only using one module. Me not protecting from other 13 weapons.

If... Alternativa (although it's not going to happen) only allow you to equip ONE module,  what module would YOU choose?

I know mines. And you know it too.

AH!!!!!!!!!! My favorite!!!!! What modules you used?

I commonly use Firebird, Thunder and Twins protections but in some cases I'll use a Rail or Smoky protection.

Reason why:

Firebird: Most alts give fire effects and Firebird is the most op turret right now.

Thunder: Thunder's are tedious to fight without a protection as they do a lot of damage and their impact can be annoying for shafts

Twins: Twins are just annoying to go against as a shaft, so I use this protection.

Well, I challenge you only using Eagle modules.

Thanks for the welcome, I hope to meet some great shaft mains here. I usually play battles where supplies are shut off or very rarely when i do play with supplies, they are limited to the supply drops only.

Shaft has always been my favorite due to the dynamic properties it has, it can play any position on the battlefield.

I just play it as a super chaotic aggressive turret but lets not talk about that  ;)

The main reason I have yet to invest in a Shaft protection is because they rarely if ever give me any issues...

Welcome! Sorry, I haven't been active at all lately...

FrozenRailgun, DieselPlatinum, and Truthteller are by far the most skilled Shaft players in this topic, at least from what I've seen. As for me, I've been going around with Shaft/Hunter M3 and Rapid-fire mode improving my K/D from 0.59 - now I'm all the way up to 0.80!

In 2013, there was a glitch for 2 days similar to hyperspace rounds alteration of Railgun, only much much more overpowered.

Shaft's shots still had piercing ability back then. If you fired an arcade shot through an enemy or teammate and hit an enemy behind that tank, it was instanty killed; no matter double armor. You literally had unlimited damage after the first tank your shot traveled through.

I remember I was killing full drugged Mammoth M3's in Silence map with a Shaft M0 - no drugs and just arcade shots. It was madness.

I recorded this stuff and it is stored on the harddrive on my old laptop. Sadly though, I can't acces the videos anymore since my harddrive broke down years ago.

There is more footage around on youtube from other players but so far I haven't found it.

EDIT: nevermind, I found it.

Oh god, I miss the glory days of shaft so much. When it was nerfed 2 years ago, I cried. It was like the DSR 50 nerf in BO2, where it had become the end of an era. Seriously, quickscoping died that day in TO forever, unless they bring the old Shaft back. It was like the Intervention, and I miss it so much...

But that glitch in 2013...wow, I remember. People were just pulling out their Shafts to try to get everyone to use that exploit. Great times though.

This was also at the height of the disdain for shafts, when every non turret turning brawler couldn't help but wet their little skevvies every time they were sniped.  It happened about the time laser was introduced, a little before or after.  It was another concession to the rest of pecker heads that can't play tanki unless they were ramming their enemy with DD and DA on.

Well, yeah. People hated being killed by Shafts. They thought it was the most noob turret ever, *cough* Twins *cough*, but in reality they were just salty that they couldn't snipe for s***.

It's enough to even cause potential eye damage.

Thanks to shot effects, Black and Magma will now kill your corneas.

Literally coming first in every battle, the assault emitter alteration has really helped.

On my way to getting Shaft to m4

Screenshot-14.png

Nice, but wait till you get Rapid-fire mode  ;)

In my experience the best modules to use with shaft is

Railgun

Magnum

Thunder

This is just personal preference but these three turrets are some of the most common ones to see anywhere.

Round Destabilization, Large Caliber Rounds, and Sledgehammer are the most overpowered things made after Darth Vader boarded the Rebel ship a long, long time ago...

But Magnum? Please. You're better off getting protection against Rico or Twins.

Shaft Hornet is the best  ;)

Any alterations? Because ez win with Rapid-fire or AE.

NO. Firebird I agree with, but Thunder and Twins are by far not the best modules.

Hammer. Simply because of GODDAMN Duplet users.

And Striker. Because of Uranium.

Nuff said.

Although you could swap out Striker with Railgun protection.

When I use my Shaft, I almost always only use Shaft module. I do have Grizzly and Falcon, but only when they are using Eagle.

And now I challenge anyone of you do this and earn at least K/D of 1 in a battle. I don't need to since I do that all the time.

CONGRATULATION OF YOUR PROMOTION TO GENERALISSIMO TRUTHTELLER! AH!!!!!!

Hm..... what make you guys pick Shaft?

I want to talk with FogOfWar right now in this forum....

Back on one of my founding accounts, I was attracted to the turret for the reasons that it was a scoped-sniper and the fact that the price was over 1,000 crystals. It wasn't as expensive as Ricochet at 1,900 or Isida at 1,800 but it was still something. I had actually planned on buying Hammer but I ended up with a bit more crystals than I thought I would have had (about 1,400) so I bought Shaft thinking that the more expensive the turret, the better it is.

I encountered many Shafts on that account and I saw that a lot of them had a laser. I always shot Arcade shots because I didn't know how to get the laser. I wanted to get the laser really bad. I didn't know the Forum or the Wiki existed back then so I just kept doing something until I got the laser. About 2 weeks later, I had accidentally held down the spacebar and I got this new looking thing that looked awesome. I took my hand off of it and did it immediately as I came out but I realised a little after that my energy needed to be full. I started experimenting with it and I was finally able to one-shot some hulls.

I kept using it because I felt like I had a silent role in the team - a support sniper. I would make sure the attackers escaped from the enemy base with their flag unharmed as much as possible. It was really satisfying to help out my team like that. I also talked to fellow Shafts in the battle back then (Ah the good old days when no one was toxic).

I had an account that I used Shaft on. I don't use it anymore though.

I regularly use Shaft on the Test Server because I miss being a sniper.

As an added note, Shaft's sniper mode with mouse controls is honestly fun. I love that you could hold the laser still while moving the camera around a bit; that really helps in many situations.

I got it thinking it was the turret with the big bang explosion which I later learned was the turret thunder. At first I didn't know that shaft was a sniper turret, thought it was the railgun.

Ah.... it was cheap that time. And you can play support/defense. What makes you not to use it anymore?

So what makes me pick Shaft is this....

When I was Corporal or something like that, there was one time I was in Polygon Team Fight. And then a laser touchs my tank.... it blew to oblivion. I was like... ONE SHOT KILL?! What? That happened to me repeatedly literally.

Until I found out that turret was named Shaft and it has a scary laser. Eventually I decided to buy it... however my mind was filled with question mark until the Wiki that guided me.

I realized the mistake that every beginner made: spent crystals on useless item. It was not to late to change.

Once I grabbed my rifle, searching through Shaft guide and see what turret fits the best for it. It recommended heavy/medium hulls. Although I don't like to go slow. This is when choices stuck in my mind: should I use Wasp or Hornet?

When I looked at Wasp-Shaft recommendation, it said "In the skilled hand, Wasp-Shaft can be an ninja." This is when upgrading Wasp happened.

One more time, when I found out Hornet is most popular hull because of more stability, it changed my mind and that is when I started to fall in love with Hornet. Although it recommended Railgun and other short ranged turrets, the look of Hornet-Shaft and its versatility is a lot better than the famous Hornet-Railgun.

Did I mention Hornet-Shaft is a troll setup? When successfully assassinated an enemy tank.... I would be elsewhere.

Hammer honestly isn't that hard to go against cause I kill them with triple shot before they get me (only 4 shots to kill).

Uranium vs Hornet M4? Lol I win.

Railgun protection is handy yeah, that's probably going to be my next M3 protection.

Oof just realized I'm in the wrong account RIP. Anyways I'm JAGMAN2468.

Alright who will win THIS Shaft duel?

M4 Hornet-Shaft with M4 Eagle

Vs.

M4 Titan-Shaft. No protection module.

The agile assassin or the traditional sniper? Comment your answer below.

The strange comparison. With Eagle m4, Hornet has a clear advantage. If both without protection module, hornet will have good chances to win in DM with a drop and СTF. Only in DM without a drop, titan will have an advantage.

Basically a tie.

Y - arcade damage; X - time (seconds)

2.png

How did you do this? With what spreadsheet program?

Also, at what point does the laser appear, when fully charged, or a little before?
