You all know Shaft, the turret with the most abused alteration, Rapid-fire mode. Let's stop that and start trying other Shaft alts. Who's with me?

Is the alt "short band emitter" good for a low rank account? I have never played seriously with Shaft before, so I don't know.

I play it with Viking, as a mobile sniper. (I use the arcade shot quite often)

Short Band Emitter is great for low rank.

Alright, thanks mate.

Just make sure your turret is strong enough to 2 shot (without dd) a light hull with this alt, or else it is useless.

What's with the word useless being thrown so haphazardly? It has other effective uses than for one-shotting light hulls. The extra damage allows it to 2-shot medium hulls faster than Stock can 3-shot them. That extra damage can save you when you can only use one more shot on a damage enemy before you die, and many times, Stock Shaft's arcade damage falls just short of killing them, which SBE can do. It increases the minimum sniping damage so quickscopes have more value.

Ok. I'm sorry. Maybe not useless. But it does really reduce the effectiveness. I'm at a point where this alt no longer two shots light hulls. I switched to standard settings and found it much better.

Also,

Light hull * 1.5 = medium hull (in terms of Armor, approx)

If you can't two shot a light hull, you are most likely not going to three shot a medium hull.

Yeah for now, I find it quite good. No worries tho, when I will reach the required rank, I will buy the triple shot alt, which should be the best one.

I guess it will be a long time, since I am still at baby ranks (and I am having a blast, though honestly it kinda feels like kicking puppies)

That's a large GS difference.

It sure is, but I was playing with a 250 GS score until yesterday, and I was doing quite fine as well.

I prefer the Light Capacitors alt to all the others. A close second is the Rapid Fire mode. Having the shaft charge up faster allows for more kills and assists without sitting around camping. Having the horizontal speed boost allows for accurate tracking all around the board. If you are facing lots of protections, then the rapid fire works better since you need the extra damage more than speed. At higher ranks, camping is a really bad strategy:) Love this turret!

Ever since I bought Shaft and Short-band Emitter alteration after listening to Tidebreaker, I've used it only once. That was right after I bought it. Never again. Trust me when I say this. Don't just listen to Tidebreaker and his ideology followers. If you wanna buy it, first try it. I've regretted using up 25k. Don't make the same mistake. Shaft isn't for everyone. Smoky is. Use Smoky.

Thank you.

  • Augment for Shaft «Heavy capacitors»:

    • Horizontal aiming speed decrease removed.

  • Augment for Shaft «Light capacitors»:

    • Horizontal aiming speed increase is now 100% instead of 30%.

Ooh, boy...
