X-mas map had huge issue with shaft, lost generally 20 kills per match. This issue is not new, it use to haunt us while ago aswell, called ''ghost bullet'', luckily they fixed it relatively fast for getting those 2k + kills :) Was complaining about it at frosty weekend topic, 3 hours later it was fixed.

Was very fun, normally was pulling 70+ kills every full match. People were not using shaft protection what so ever! Only 3-4 per match!!

 

Few times full scope shot damaged only arcade shot amount, but this happened only 2-3 times per match, so wasn't that annoying.

Shaft is good for low ranks and getting relatively good k/d's.

m4 shaft recharges energy at 125/second. this means that without heavy capacitors you have to wait for 8 seconds to fire another scope shot after you just fired a fully charged one.

 

with heavy capacitors you only have to hold down for 6.15 seconds, this means that only 77% of the charge gets used up... so after you fire a shot powerful enough to one shot a madium hull you'd only have to wait 6.16 seconds to fire another scope shot...

 

 

so the actual difference is actually just 0.31 seconds more for one shotting mediums... but you'd get 30% more damage if you happen to need it anytime! in a battle some have shaft protection and some don't, so for those without just hold down for 6.15 seconds and reload in 6.16 seconds... but for those with protection hold down a little longer.

They're increasing power-up time with 100%, not reload. So the alt would cut the energy restore rate of 125/sec down to 62,5 or make the stored energy from 1000 to 2000. Either way it would mean that it's 16 whole seconds of getting that 3900 damage output ready.

 

The damage per second with the alt would be 243,75.     3900/16

The damage per second without the alt would be  375.    3000/8

 

I know I shouldn't bring in a damage/sec parameter to a sniper weapon but they're not telling you that with the alteration. I wouldn't care if medium hulls could only be destroyed with the alt equipped but since I already can with the 3000 damage, I don't see the real gain here apart from finishing off big fat campers with a single tap shot.

 

I think the real decision comes from looking at the way someone uses his/her Shaft.

You're absolutely right about the protection paints though; some headroom in terms of damage is always nice for that.

nope, i have had heavy capacitors for a long time and use it roughly 50% of the time. 

 

with it, charge per second remains the same. it doubles the time it takes to charge up your scope fully, from 4seconds to 8 seconds.

Anyway, 100% increase.. 4 to 8; that's massive.

 

Edit: No idea how I got to 16 seconds in my previous post.

excatly, it's for noobs because it is so easy to get good scores with it. thanks for being an example.

I will personally donate you 1k euros if you can pull 100 kills @ legends 15 minute no-pro battle in holiday map. Note, must be vided whole battle! 

 

Should be easy cash right? Talk is cheap, Go go.

For noobs it is easier to be good with shaft than with any other weapon. This is why you might see so many noob shafts. Especially if they use hornet while camping

It is so annoying to have noob shafts in team when playing in maps like highways. Those shafts don't even hide sometimes and it is very easy to kill/knock their aim off when they are searching for enemy.

Mid-level/good shafts are so annoying to me as a hornet-shaft user

yeah sorry since some update 3 months ago i can't get the game to load at home.

 

but really, someone who never use shaft might believe you when you lie about how hard shaft is to use but... we both know how easy it really is.

challenging me for 1000 euros is cheap when you know it can't possibly be done because there's no way i can even join the battle.

Is it just me or the ghost bullet glitch is back? Had instances of it happening around once every 3 or 4 shots on multiple matches over a few days.

hopefully they have brought one of the many nerfs shaft really really needs.

It really really depends! As for pulling records like this, you have to have lots of luck with arcade shots and really good memory who to shoot(who has prot, who doesn't), as even slight protection will screw your shot and doesn't make the kill in DM.  Not to mention actual correct scope mode power to make that 3k damage. I been lately hitting so many 29xx shots on m4 med hulls, it's actually making me sick.

 

Now, on DM with 30 players, it's not as easy, as people keep spawning next to you all the time, it's like you have some kind of hideout to camp and shoot. Obviously, can not move as you will be targeted by other long range turrets. Most short range turrets know that shaft can't turn turret fast, so they think, ''Oh, easy kill'', this is actually real issue as shaft gets targeted much more often than any other turret(expect magnum now, as he cant turn turret at all).

 

If it is not against the rules, I can easily loan my account for you, I got loads of drugs and no issues for you to try to beat score of 100. Not really fan of the idea using it on internet cafe, which is most likely biggest hideout for keyloggers. Let me know if it is ok and contact me.

Well I usually play my Smoky and leave the Shaft in the garage. But I was on the Barrel map ... excuse me the Massacre CP map ...  so I put it on the Titan and proceeded to blast Fish ... excuse me enemy tanks ... like there was no tomorrow. O.M.blankity-blank.G.  This thing is so easy to use compared to Smoky. Not to mention my drug use went way down. It is hard to believe these two turrets are part of the same game. I knew the thing was OP but my gawd.

 

I should also add, I am not very good with Shaft. I miss many shots a good Shafter would not. 

 

Using it really underlined how OP Magnum is. In order to get those big hit from Shaft you have to wait several seconds for the gun to rechange. Then several more for the scope mode to charge up. Then wait a variable amount of time to actually see a [1] target. Meanswhile Magnum hs lopped three shells in the same amount of time each one capable of hitting several unseen targets.

I would argue that twins is by far an easier turret to score with. There are a few boards where a shaft can camp, but without a team protecting you, even those are deadly.

arcade shots of shaft with assault emmiters has roughly the same stats as thunder without splash if you don't count turret rotation and vertical aiming. slow turret rotation shouldn't be a problem if you use shaft with mammoth because it's turret is at the front and it has quick turning speed..

 

this means that at close range shaft with M1 alteration is equal to thunder with m1 alteration... but at far range shaft is unrivaled to every other turret..

 

i really can't understand what kind of game balance is this..

Well this is the shaft thread. I compared it to my experiences with Smoky.  I do not use Twins.

After playing serveral legend battles with shaft i conclude that when paired with shaft, mammoth is clearly superior to titan!

 

Had to resort to using viking because the turret position of titan is too big a liability.. If i had my m3 mammoth on that account i'd use it even against m4 legends because the slow turning speed, acceleration and turning speed if makes it almost useless for shaft due to it's slow turret rotation.

Dude wtf, everyone knows that titan is better as it is smaller and faster with same health. You barely ever see ANY mammoth users who actually know how to play :) It's always titan!

Yeah you wefe right about being targeted simply because you're a shaft.. :(

 

Still, i've been finishing first in more than half the battles... Only a matter of time before i get lucky and hit 100 :) thank you :)
