Let's Discuss Freeze!

Maybe this question doesn't belong here, but I don't know where else to ask it.

In my last battle I was all of a sudden frozen for a short while, but not by a Freeze. Is there a type of overdrive/drone who does this ?

A Smoky with the 'Cryo rounds' alteration equipped has dealt a critical hit on you (which deals regular damage, but fully freezes your tank for a short period of time).

With the implementation of the decreased rank requirement for purchasing kits, Freezes have been dominating the Warrant Officer battles. It's getting to the point where they win even in large maps. 

 

 

The first place player was a Freeze. He had a 22.00 D/L until he died for the second time. 

 

Back in my fun days in Tanki, I always thought the Siberian Kit was a mistake but now, that mistake turned into something that shouldn't have been in the first place. I see too many players under WO5 with M2 Freeze protection and it's pissing me off that the rank requirement decrease did this.

All that screen-shot proves is that you came first in a battle.

Most of those players were in battle < half the game.

 

Freeze is way better than it used to be.  But Fire is on another level...

I'm not sure. When I use fire I often have to attack an enemy twice because they use a repair kit (almost every damn time). If I leave them to burn there's a 50/50 chance they will either destruct or get an overdrive / meet an isida.

 

Freeze on the other hand... it has huge damage output and people don't tend to use repair kits (because they are frozen so it's pointless to do so). Plus there's alts that increase the damage or freeze effect further.

 

I feel like firebird and railgun have the most protection modules in battle (both my only M4 turrets). Often when I drop down to something with less microupgrades (twins, magnum, striker etc) I start getting more kills.

I think so.

I have 3 M3 turrets - Twins, Isida and Freeze.  Twins is my main one, but Freeze I'm using more now because if you attack from behind the victim can't turn its turret to defend.

Mine's MU'd to 6/20 and it's still pretty good imo.  As others said, not many load up with the freeze mod so victims are fairly easy prey.

While I believe it's more satisfying to play with firebird since nobody can kill you without taking serious damage, it's also more frustrating because it gets its kills stolen very easily.  -_-

 

I would love having a freeze to use whenever I'm in a situation where I can't stand thunders or magnums taking my kills...... not really "my" kills but you get the idea.

Freeze is a gun for skilled players with good tactics. Firebird is too easy to play with(and boring). Freeze is a great and useful turret for me.

I'm no longer staying silent on this issue. Freeze has been dominating DM battles, and team battles to a smaller extent, since they reduced the rank requirements for Kits in the Shop. 

 

It is very powerful. it currently has the second highest direct damage of the three melee-ranged turrets. In a lot of games, weapons that freeze the enemy are the weapons that generally have the least damage compared to maybe Fire weapons or Poison weapons etc. M4 Freeze does 900 damage per second AND it can freeze tanks in their place in 2 seconds of complete exposure to maximum damage. I don't know about you guys, but the joy in using Freeze for me, is to keep them frozen for maybe 3-4 seconds and then kill them. WIth this current Freeze, you kill them before you even properly freeze them. 

 

Can someone who plays with Freeze regularly in the high ranks tell me if Freeze is a turret that suffers greatly when put against 35-50% protection against itself? It's so uncontrollable in the low ranks and I ALWAYS find myself competing against a Freeze for First place in DM in the high ranks as well. There was a Duplet Infestation and now there's a Freeze Infestation.

One thing that is pissing me off royally is that somehow, a Freeze is the one that steals the kill when 3+ people are shooting at one target at the same time. Like I just wanna punch my keyboard every time it happens because it's ALWAYS the Freeze getting it. It's just a coincidence but man does it rile me up every time it happens. Doesn't matter if it's the low ranks or the high ranks, they always steal it. Many times I had locked onto a Juggernaut with Cyclone Striker and a Freeze would take the kill on it right before my 5-7th rocket hits the Juggernaut.

 

Right now, in the WO ranks and maybe below, Freeze is broken. It may not be like that for the High ranks but it's definitely like that for the low ranks.

I think it is due to that everybody is having it, but i seriously hate it because it got tremendous powers in small and medium maps it's freezing powers starts from the moment it damages so if you are in his sight you will be traped and you won't be able to damage it, that's the problem with it, it's not balanced and unfair for players who don't have it but powerful and great for those who have it.

This is one of those guns that I love and hate at the same time. It's amazing to play with when you have the m1 or m2 (at this rank.) However, I hate it because I still have the M0(I never use it much) and trying to play any other gun against a freeze at short range is almost impossible.

I hate having to ALWAYS fight for first against Freezes in the Lieutenants and WO ranks. Even at M1, they dominate. The damage is simply too high.

I think wasp is better than hornet because it is faster and looks good BUT hornet is getting a good overdrive which will nullify protections so then I think that will make it better also I may get Hornet XT from challenges

 

So should I stick to wasp or buy hornet?

I have been using this alteration frequently on the Test Server. I love circling people and making them feel frustrated that they could barely fight back. I also use it to troll the Juggernaut by making it easier for Strikers to lock-on to the current Juggernaut. Some of the strikers would say "thanks" but most stay silent. The one thing I thought about with Shock Freeze is that if you're defending in a team battle, you're potentially sacrificing a lot of points for your team's victory. That's the ultimate price for a broken alteration (only in No-supply PRO battles). 

 

I suggest sticking to Wasp. That's one thing I didn't like about Hull-specific Overdrives. It makes players want to buy a certain hull for a cool Overdrive rather than what fits their playstyle. If you truly have enough crystals to afford it among other stuff during the next sale, then you can go ahead. I have to warn you though, Hornet is very drifty and I've noticed it has been a great bit unstable.

Freeze with Viking's Overdrive is evil. I saw a Titan have 90% of its HP taken away by one tick of damage from a Freeze with double damage. It's a true path clearer.

Yes, I like Freeze with Wasp even more now with the overdrive. You don't have to destroy a cluster anymore - just slow them down enough so they are unable to get out of range of the nuke. Just spray, lay and away!

Did this on the Test Server with Shock Freeze and Wasp's Overdrive. It was hilarious to see their reactions in the chat. 

 

Did it to Juggernaut many times as well and each time it went perfectly, it was satisfying.

It's a game changer...well at least it was a game changer before the new Overdrives. With the new Overdrives, you can die before you get to enjoy the effects. If you have one of these on defence, your team has an increased chance of drawing the game ow winning. It needs support though. It can't do it all by itself, it has low damage and needs another player to deal damage to the enemies being frozen.

Freeze is a horrible weapon and so unrealistic. it works too fast and almost destroys a game.

Freeze weapon is so unrealistic it should be removed from the game or at least hampered in some way as it is far too powerful. I'm sure a skilled player will still make it work if it is limited in power.
