Game gets increasingly unbalanced between paying and free play at W. O. 4

Recommended Posts

Ah, that explains it.  Yes, I've had to abandon many battles because I was playing against seriously upgraded tanks against which I had no chance whatsoever.  That combined with the obviously high skill level that comes along at that level has made me want to quit.

I actually agree - the higher I go in rank the less fun the game provides. It's become more of a bore than it was a lower ranks.

Maybe because at higher ranks the same is so sterile from the same level of one-shotters drugging all the time with shaft or rail.

At lower ranks people don't necessarily know how to stack the round in their favor so there is more randomness and variability in how people play.

By the time you reach where I am at it's just a bunch of people hiding behind something with a rail drugging and taking tanks out in one shot. Quite boring.

If the game were set up right you would be competing against tanks of similar specs rather than competing against ranks because people at higher ranks have unlocked stuff you can't get access to. That inherently makes it a bore when your tank can't compete not because of skill but due to limitations stacked against you because of what other people have unlocked already.

In short if only M2 competed against M2 I think it would be a bit more fun.

Thank you all for these suggestions. I'm a smart player and the only thing I haven't done on the list is to create multiple accounts. I don't have time for that. I only play one hull and one turret. Viking and Ricochet. It's still not enough.

I only wish to point out that as an experienced free play gamer I am noticing that the game is increasingly unbalanced against me. By the time I've saved up for the next upgrade, I will only be more behind.

I chose a Viking hull for survivability, but I still get either one shotted or blown up in 1 1/2 seconds on a regular basis. Often without getting off more than a couple of shots. That sucks all the fun out. It's because I am now facing a steady supply of good players with better equipment and my previous advantage of being a better player than most is evaporating. At these levels, most players are good. Having less firepower, speed, maneuverability and defense as the tanks around me on a regular basis means that it gets harder and harder to earn crystals in battle. I am circling the drain.

It's a fun game and I've enjoyed it a lot, but I am not here to be someone else's cannon fodder. That stuff gets old in a real hurry.

I had the same problems when I was your rank on my account aniketsharmarocks098 (add me plz). Here lwaysre some tips for you

1.Always find battles which fit your rank(battles with maximum rank WO4 or WO5).I know its hard, but its totally worth the trouble.

2.Try to use thunder.Thunder is the most overpowered weapon at m1 or u can also use rail.

3.Use both light hulls and medium hulls. If you have viking, then go for hornet. It is a good and fast hull which is perfect for capturing flags.

4.Last but not the least, never buy paints until you reach the rank of Marshal.I know,it may sound tempting, but save your crystals for upgrading your hulls and guns.(I myself have only dirty, dragon, storm which I got from the Starter Kit Xl.

Goodbye, and I hope these tips will help you become a successful tanker.

See you on the battlefield!

I find this interesting that it has become a problem of  your players at your rank, I believe the problem may be in your map and game choice, majority of the maps available to play are big maps were rail and hornet and shafts dominate easily. Your richo and viking doesn't have a chance on a map like Osa. What i recommend you to do is join a DM battle or a small team battles such as highland. This is were richo comes to play, try and find a map with the winning team its not worth you time if your on the loosing team just be patient and find one. If for some reason there isn't a good game for you to play which is rare try server 5 instead of 4 , people tend to be lower rank on that server but whatever. Really in one hour of medium success game play 1 k crystals should well be in your reach. If your having a good day maybe 2k a bad day 0.5 k at worst.

The really is no need to buy crystals at your rank for it doesn't really give you a massive advantage and if you play smart and buy smart you wont have problem buying modifications even without a sale.

My current garage m2 freeze,m1 hornet,m1 viking,m1 thunder ,m1 rail , jaguar paint, m1 isida +70k cry and over 1.5 k of each drug (not buyer).

I regret buying freeze but i bought it a long time ago when freeze was OP but the changed it now its just balanced :) stick to one combo and try and get it upgraded my combo will be rail and hornet because rail can be used for a long time way past its rank you can buy it.

Thanks for the advice.  It's so good that I've been following it for a long time.   :)  It doesn't really help with getting one shotted or being at an enormous equipment disadvantage compared to other players.  The Mods agree that this is a problem btw.

I appreciate the fact that part of the problem is having battles that mix M1's and M3's, but this doesn't address all of the imbalance issues.  There is still the matter of paying players who drug constantly and do all the micro upgrades having a significant advantage or free players.  This has also made the game incrementally more frustrating  the higher I go in levels.

If I had to pick the one thing that ruins the game, it's the ability of other players to one  shot me.  There is no effective counter measure to this and no amount of skill can overcome it.  It means that I either hide at the base or resign myself to getting killed a lot.  I generally choose the latter while watching those players get three times as many crystals.

get good paints against guns that can one shot you (rail, shaft, thunder?, and soon hammer paints will be out I hope :P) and use cover and dodge :D

Make sure you buy new upgrades on sales only (9th of May, Tanker's day, New Year, Halloween, etc.) so that you save crystals. M2 upgrades shouldn't cost you 200k.

Well, as our friend says, he doesn't BUY. He's a free gamer. Is there something a free gamer can do or is it obligatory to pay? If so, then it's not a free game, is it? :)

As for buyers, who beat you in battles using drugs, all I can suggest for you is to create multiple account so that you play for a week on one and collect the daily bonus on the others and switch accounts when you run out of supplies to use. With that strategy you can also try out different hull+weapon combinations to vary your gameplay.

Sure he can do that. Grow 4-5 accounts and log in everyday with all (for the daily bonus) but play only a single one. A bit lame IMO, but he can do it...

I understand exactly where you're coming from. Here's the strategy I used.

1. Only buy when there are 50% discounts or more.

Hello.... He doesn't buy! So, invalid piece of advice. (Anyway, only stupid or incredibly rich people buy without at least a 50% discount)

2. Never drug no matter how much you want to unless a gold box is falling. Trust me over-time, your drug count will becoming loaded after just a few months (in the 800s easy at my rank).

Trust me on this  ;)

This one is a doubtful tactic. Meaning, that going against drugged AND superior tanks without protection of a supply or an expensive paint is a good way to die fast. Regardless of one's skill. <_<

Basically, what the dude says is pretty much true. Tanki has slowly become a freemium game. No pay, no victory. What's worse, no fun. Take that into consideration Hazel-Rah. Enforcing the supplies and removing crystal drops made the game a playground for payers only.

According to free play gaming theory you should never sell power, -which Tanki clearly does.-    Never create payer only areas.  -Which Tanki does.-  You should only sell convenience.

Convenience for a game like Tanki should come in the following forms:

1.  Not waiting for upgrades to go into effect  -Tanki does this.

2.  Being able to buy and use several different hulls and turrets.  -Tanki does this.

3.  Tank bling  -Tanki does not do this.  (Bling would individualize your tank, without affecting game play.)

4.  Early access to new game features.

And perhaps other things I have missed.  It takes creativity and imagination to avoid selling power, but it's vital to the overall health of the game.   It's important to grow the free player base because this is the ONLY way to grow the base of paying players.

I love to enter noob battles with ranks like yours with my hammer m4 and dicator and drugs to kill you like noobs and the sad part is that you guys enter gissmo battles and try kill us when you know you can't.

Noob my friend is the one that has a superior tank and needs to drug in order to kill an inferior tank ;)

As for the sad part, I occasionally bleed some generalissimo noses that stand out... :P

That is the very best advice.  Also if funds are tight not only open a new account but stick with one weapon and one hull.  It gets very expensive upgrading multiple projects.  When upgrading one on one account use the other account to play and so on.  That way it should be possible to do well for free and keep plying while work is in progress!

No ads, no pop up banners, no BS when signing on. Constant refinements, new turrets and paints, This can't be done with free players. I think tanki is a good value for the money. I pay and I use supplies. I think you should be able to play for free but don't expect to win .

I disagree. twofold.

First, what's the point of playing a game in which I only lose? Plain, no point at all. So, you propose a NON FREE game.

Second, this game is good value for money, you say. I say, it's bad value for money. How do we know which one of the two is right? I expect an answer to that.

If a player sticks to one hull, turret combination, buys at the right time limits or creates games to his or here rank, then it is possible to progress for free.  Have separate accounts to experience other weapons in the same way then that will satisfy the easily bored.  It is not a free game.  Those behind the game have to make a living or we would all be playing tennis on a green screen!  Of coarse those with dosh will have better experiences more weapons, better modified.  That is life.  However they will get bored first because everything comes too easily.  they will move on to get their kicks somewhere else or imbibe something stronger.  It is not just black and white.  While some may pay huge amounts of dosh $$$$$$$$ and others nothing at all.  I suspect most fall a bit in between, making do most of the time and struggle to boost with real hard earned cash on the odd good day.

It is some times difficult to imagine who is behind what comments.  Are they kids at primary/ secondary, University, working mums and dads, real drugs barons/ hoodlums, spoiled brats perhaps.  their will be a massive demographic with every colour and shade shade.  Some might take years to achieve modest rank while others are fast tracking.  Some do nothing but play here every day others have families to run.   It is different for everyone.

(1) See this? Can you read what it says? That's how they advertise it.

(2)  There is a difference between "making a living" and "making a fortune". My personal opinion is they make a fortune.

Most "free MMOGs" have (many) non buyers, small time buyers and big time buyers.

In other games small time buyers spend 5-40 euros annually, big time buyers spend more than 50 euros annually, maybe tenfold.

Tanki requires more than 50 euros annually in order for someone to compete above brigadier rank. That means that the limit for small time buyers is above 40-50 euros per year, when non buyers find it all the more difficult to endure competition after "smart cooldown" that transformed us into druggers. That, I call GREED.

This is correct and incorrect.  You may be confusing players with pick ups with players who drug when they spawn.  At my rank, what you need to do is join the battles where you are the highest.  I love how M1 rail can one shot M0 hornet!

Ok, that sign means that it doesn't take money to sign up, it's your choice to buy or not.

Saying that they force you to pay just to play at higher ranks is absolute hogwash.

I switched from a wasp/fire combo to Viking/isida - I play on small/med maps. The Isida has done well I get XP for kills/heals. I learned with my wasp to stalk and kill (the health of the Wasp is very low).

Stalk and kill, or kill steal this should help gain a few crys

With all these crap updates, it's more difficult than ever to have fun in this game without buying.

Nothing we can do about it... I don't believe Tanki will ever change these things back to how they once were.

How about we make a deal.... You (both) wait untill you become brigadiers and if by that time you still agree with what you say now, I will become totally, asbolutely fan of every update Tanki implies.

I mean, don't be hasty in feeling you know Tanki. Give yourself a little time, and see for your sake.
