Game gets increasingly unbalanced between paying and free play at W. O. 4

(2)  There is a difference between "making a living" and "making a fortune". My personal opinion is they make a fortune.

 

Most "free MMOGs" have (many) non buyers, small time buyers and big time buyers.

In other games small time buyers spend 5-40 euros annually, big time buyers spend more than 50 euros annually, maybe tenfold.

Tanki requires more than 50 euros annually in order for someone to compete above brigadier rank. That means that the limit for small time buyers is above 40-50 euros per year, when non buyers find it all the more difficult to endure competition after "smart cooldown" that transformed us into druggers. That, I call GREED.

It is a free game.  They said nothing about free to reach the top and win or be competitive.  Some are quite competitive without paying anything.  Even those that spend loose sometimes.  I have no argument as to whether Tanki is greedy or not.  I agree with many who suspect that they way up all options before settling on one that might be more viably financial.  Their is also the situation with the currency at the moment with oil prices bottoming out and trade embargoes.  We are lucky that we have Tanki at all as it is.  If trade embargoes hit here on this site it would be disastrous for them and us too.  They  might feel secure,  they are not bothered by small protests because as vocal as a few are here millions of others are complying gratefully or in silence in any case. They could reduce prices in the hope that it encourages more sales or go completely the other way and maximize profit for everything that they do.

 

Some people are spending hundreds of $$$ pounds regularly should they be concerned by the opinions of those that spend nothing? I do not like every thing but if it got that bad I would just go.  If yo feel that bad then go.. many on here threaten this or that but in the vast majority of cases it is just hot air.  There are people that will moan and groan about absolutely anything.   These pages are full of it.  Most do not even bother to make any effort in writing anything comprehensive.  Much of it is very badly written, with threat, slang and text speak.

If you are above 20 yo and still have no argument as to whether they are greedy, then something is wrong with your perception. Or, you have interests in Tanki bussiness.

Yes, pray the Lord. Well, except, soon I won't have Tanki because I won't be able to contribute money and as it is, I will be only capable of play as a moving target (thanks, but not thanks).

Yes they sould. They definetly should. You see, the ones that hunt ducks can't do it if ducks decide to move to another country. Is that clear or do I have to make it plainer?

I hope that is not writen for me.. I always try to support my opinion with arguments or facts.

 

Bottom line, when we go on specific numbers and amounts it will be obvious to all that they charge more than to make a living.... I would like to avoid it if I can. My wish is not that Tanki fails but that it succeeds and players are happy. However, happiness is not what one sees in the forum. Many players of every rank and wallet disagree with many updates. Tanki should consider these oppositions or they should terminate the forum (or players ability to comment. But all players' ability, not only of those that disagree)

The post was not directed at you , it was just in general .  I do speak up.  I took a ban for supposedly being political.  I have never been banned for anything ever in any place for anything.  I just do not agree with everything that people say on here.  Talk of greed of Tank!  People should just step back a bit and reflect on the greed of so many individuals.  One can see greed on these pages every day and in the Game.  It is the way society has changed.  It is unfortunately a human trait displayed by so many.

I know how hard it is for warrant officers now, back in the day the game was fairly balanced, druggers could be outnumbered by the rest of the team and it was much more hardcore

 

Times have changed now, i think micro upgrades are to blame but we needed a new milestone

I am the original poster on this thread.  Tanki actually resolved the real reason for this thread, which was putting WO's in battles way above their class.  And that problem has now gone away.  But this is a good discussion.

 

It is not easy to make a free to play MMO work, and this game really is better than most of them, which are pretty unplayable without paying.  I personally would like to see the dev's get rich.  Isn't that the whole point of running a business?  Money is wonderful stuff!  The question I pose then is how to go about it, and that does involve understanding the whole point of having free players in the first place.

 

The main objective, which many free to play games forget, is that the cost of hosting free players is a legitimate business expense because it is the cost of advertising and marketing.  That is how you attract new customers and grow your business.  For that reason, you have to be careful about what you're advertising because this can backfire as it does with so many free to play games.  If a game is too hard for free players, they won't recommend it to their friends and the game loses crucial word of mouth advertising, the most effective sort there is.

 

Here's where it gets tricky.  The easiest thing to sell is the Power To Win (PTW).  A lot of people will pay for this because who doesn't want to win?  But once you do that you destroy the game for everyone else who didn't buy the PTW.  In Tanki, of course, if you buy lots of drugs and do all your micro upgrades and paints, you have bought the PTW.  It's a totally great situation for the paying player, who can rampage about crushing other tanks with impunity, but the other side of this is that it sucks for everyone else.  What that means in business terms is that all the money you're paying to support free players just went down the drain because their experience wasn't very pleasant.

 

So free players have to have a good experience for the business to be successful.  It's a delicate balance that dev's need to be aware of.

well i guess it is made to force you a bit into being a "investor"  so they can make money to run and be rentabil. Free users are a need, but you know money are money :)

The developers know the importance of free players to the game, so I don't think I need to go into that.

 

The problem is that as you go up in levels it becomes harder and harder to be a free player.  Too many others have paid for upgrades and the game gets ridiculously hard.

 

I can't be drugged all the time just to break even with other players and I'm sure others have the same experience.  I've run into this in other games where power is sold and I knew it would be a matter of time before I climbed the ranks too much to play.  It looks like I'm close to hitting the ceiling in this game for free play.

 

The most serious concern is affording the next upgrades which will be around 200k.

 

If you want to keep free players you gotta give us some love.   We have to be able to keep up or it's not a playable game for us.

I mean, don't be hasty in feeling you know Tanki. Give yourself a little time, and see for your sake.
