Tank Operators Need Maps... It's Just Expected.

Recommended Posts

I like the gameplay on Tanki. It is great, but I have a suggestion that I think would improve/add a new dimension to gameplay.

Why not have an in-game map, that shows your position on the battle map, your teammates positions (and only your teammates positions!), who is under fire, and your teammates health? I know that may seem too noob like, but I think it may improve strategy and gameplay. With that, you could strategize in real time a little better and see where the weak spots are by some clever deduction (who's dying, who's not).

Because of being able to see where your teammates are and their health, you could see where you needed to go for maximum effect. Unlike real life, in Tanki, you don't have a 'commander' giving you orders and strategy, but with a map of player positions you could maybe strategize in real time. Why do you need this? Well, in a real war you have orders (or strategy), you can radio in your position and how your doing; that's not very easy to do in Tanki.

Now, I would suggest it be in an equipment section in the garage (ie. turrets, supplies, hulls, and equipment). It would have to be rather expensive--5,000-6,000 chystals--since it would stay with you, but it would make tanki more fun, and, hopefully, more strategy based. If that seems to OP, then it could come in upgrades: 5,000 to buy, 500 to see your team mates, 750 to see their health, 1,000 to see if they are under fire, etc.

Summary: Improve gameplay, strategy, and competitiveness by adding an in-game map that shows you player positions, health, and whether they are under fire.

Good idea? Bad idea? Poorly thrown together :)? You tell me. :) Please...

They are always working to give us a good game play as they are now working to have the game played using unity web player and also to make it available for mobile phones.

And adding new dimensions as they have recently added a new gun hammer which is a example of a new dimension in the game !!

Well adding a map like this will make the game more similar to other games available online or on other platforms having this game unique is the main reason why many people are playing this and the other thing is that you can contact your team mates through the new update in which you can personally message you team and the messages wont be shown to other players or opposition team.

Your Idea is good but I don't think it is required as we have a surprising fire on us during battles which makes us more worried and more interested in this game.  :D

This being a flash game and already having lag issues, something like running an extra "realtime" map with multiple player movements and info, would cause more lag and/or eat more band-width. This is a poor man's game,

This was suggested in another topic, and I said this:

Yes, It would increase the lag, but you CAN turn it off in settings, so that players with good PCs can use it effectively.

And yes, it would make no sense to show the opponents health, but the enemy players' health status and location will not be included.

(In CTF mode, the friendly flag's location while held by an enemy will also not be shown, but when it's dropped, it is)"

All in all, I think this is a wonderful idea, new players could learn the maps easier, and bigger maps will be harder to get lost in.  :D

I would also like to add to this idea--In CP mode, ALL the CPs will be shown, even if they aren't friendly. (My first time playing in Barda, I couldn't find one of the checkpoints fast enough to win the game, so yeah......Bigger maps with CP mode would be easier.  :)

As I said before, this would be useful in large maps, and if you are playing in a small map, like HillPing-Pong, or Duel, you can always turn it off in Settings

There could also be a way to change the size of the MiniMap, depending on how much you want to see.  :P

I'm talking about programming....not actual gameplay.

And you ARE able to turn it off in settings if you don't like it by the way....

Ok, guys, what's up with the fight? I just made a--I thought--helpful suggestion and everyone is fighting.  And, SicTransitGloria, some people would appreciate a team map; not all gameplay maps are that small, and I can't see through walls. It would, in my opinion, just make things better.

No one is forcing anyone to agree. This is just supposed to be a talk about the pros and cons of this suggestion.

I still think it's a great idea, and the only cons I see is that it might lag for some people and it might block too much vision for others.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I have lag on large maps (where it might be useful) and don't use them and no interest in it for small maps because it would just be extra stuff on my screen.

well maybe if it only shows your team mates it would be downright dumb to show the enemy

I don't really get the point of having a mini-map - it's not as if any of the available maps are so gigantic that needing a GPS for your tank is even remotely required.

If you are having trouble remembering your way around after playing a map for several rounds I doubt having a mini-map is really going to help.

That (it being a GPS) was not the reason for having one in the first place. It was to make it more fastpaced, add some strategy, and give you the option if you wanted it.

I haven't forgotten Dusseldorf, Polygon, Stadium, or Barda.....I got lost in every one of them.

Also, I like having an option to see where all my teammates are. That way, I can plan defense.

(This would help Clans, I'm sure.)
