The Alarming Unkindness of Tanki Players.

Recommended Posts

The other day, I was happily enjoying a game of Brest CTF. I was top of my team, having already caught five flags, when I noticed a poor noob using a shaft-wasp combo. Predictably, his name was perpetually fixed in the bottom rung of my team chart. Something about his aimless runs into enemy territory, and his ghastly deaths at the hands of shaft campers saddened me. I took it upon myself to help him get one flag capture, and told him to stay at our base waiting. Picking up the enemy flag, I raced back to our base as fast as my tracks could carry me. Triumphantly, I dropped my flag in front of the poor tanker, permitting him to perform the final honors. It seemingly took him by surprise that anyone would think to let him capture a free flag, and he hesitated for a second. In that one fateful second, I watched another one of my teammates lunge for the flag, take it, and rush for the flag base. I was stunned, all my hard work wasted on a player who certainly didn't need any extra xp. As I searched through my team list looking for the culprit, I found him, happily holding the second place position. I politely asked him why he took the flag when he certainly didn't need it. He responded vehemently with a word that I would be banned for typing. I finished the battle with a hefty battle fund and a heavy heart. So many Tanki players seem to have no thought for anyone except themselves. The more I think, the more I remember times when selfishness has caused my entire team to lose. Darn! my mom is calling me to do dishes, so I'll have to cut my long commentary short, but I'm guessing you get the point. I'll talk more about this later.

1. Please upvote if you agree.

2. If you have any other stories (and I'm sure some of you do) please share them.

3. If you have any solutions for this please share them.

Mom got the water working again, so cya.

This is a game mostly populated by children, what do you expect?

I expect immaturity, but not to this extent. Also, I wouldn't be expecting a kid to be using the words that some people use.

I guess the chance of capturing the final flag wouldn't be passed up by anyone. If the flag is there for the taking, to be honest, I would take it.

I get that you were being nice, and massive up's to you for doing that, but remember tanki is quite a selfish game.  You can't blame him for also trying to gain a bit of extra XP, score and therefore a few extra crystals.

As for his response, that is majorly uncalled for. If this ever happens again take a screenshot and report the tanker

I sincerely hope that if a player grabbed a flag specifically to give to another player, you wouldn't be selfish enough to steal it from under his nose. There is more to life than battle funds and xp you know. I believe a certain level of politeness and kindness should be shown in everything, including battles in Tanki (I sure don't show kindness 100% of the time though  :P).

Btw, I always try to get a screenshot, but the stupid shift key wasn't working on this faulty keyboard, which means no screenshots  <_<.

Your teammates are often your worst opponents. Welcome to the internet.

So far, I haven't seen anything like this in any other multiplayer games (and I play a lot of other games), this seems to be mostly restricted to Tanki. I'm not saying it's ONLY restricted to Tanki, but the frequency in which it occurs is upsetting to say the least.

What I mean is if the flag is sitting in front of someone and they are looking at it like a stunned mullet, I'm gonna finish the battle off.

A gift is fine, but unless the player shows intention to do something with it, why let him have it.

I have left it once and the player drove to the other teams base and let them capture, so I have a few trust issues now :P

Ok, first off, you make a good point. Anybody trying to capture the flag with a shaft-wasp combo is probably going to need a few minutes to process everything going into his brain :P, during that time an enemy could come and return the flag (if I didn't kill them first). My point, though, also still stands: you shouldn't be selfish. Tanki is a game, and do you really think that gaining a few extra xp points is better than being kind? In my opinion, it would be better to let the poor brainless (pardon my strong language) fool capture the flag and risk the other team returning it, than to steal it to get a few extra crystals and xp points.

Edit: I'm sure that if you did what I said in my rant, it would not be out of selfishness but rather out of frustration that the tanker was sitting there blankly. The person in my game though, obviously had no other intentions other than to further raise his xp points.

i have passed the flag to a  number of players in the passed and even now ..in the passed we did it more then now due to what happened to u and this is not to blame anyone but tanki due to this is how they want players to play and its very disrespectful to others ..if u go back in the v-logs on how to get a gold box it shows players killing before gold and yet most players refuse to kill cause they feel its wrong ...at times i agree if all players go for gold with no kills then i`m for it .. but then you have those rude players who kill just for the glory to get gold but fail when others all gang up on him at gold  or in battles so they do end up getting revenge on them in the end...

I have given the flag to many lower level players and all have taken it and capture without hesitation, and these guys weren't just top players these little guys were at the bottom of score board.

And Killer Gnat I understand where your getting at and I fully agree with you, there are some very very inconsiderate players on tanki, don't get me wrong these types of people are on pretty much all online games i have played.

I have given flags to isidas, friends and other random good players but ah, never to noobs. The thing is, I play in Rio and most of the battles I play are close and can't risk a flag or two.

I've also captured flags from laggers myself. Also I hate it when some flag carrier on my team dies, I take flag and hurriedly capture and then when he respawns he annoys me for 10 minutes because it was HIS flag..what do you expect? Wait for you to respawn and till then let the enemy return it??

I realize that not all Tanki players are selfish to the core, but the ones who are ruin everything. Thanks for understanding what I'm saying though.

Btw, call me KG, KillerGnat is too long  :).

I am trying to make a distinction between people like you (people who want their team to win), and people like the one in my rant (people who only care about raising their xp). Taking the flag from a destroyed flag carrier isn't what I'd call mean, but doing something like intentionally blocking the flag carrier or flipping him is mean. I've played against a good number of jerks who sit next to the flag waiting for a flag carrier to come along, and then block or flip him. Playing with them is worse than playing with drugger, and they take the fun out of Tanki.

P.S. I'm going to do the next part of my article soon, but I don't have enough time now.

Yeah a lot of times I use Wasp on Rio and when I'm on the rooftop with flag just when some ridiculous player from my own team shoots me and flips me.

+1

Mate, if you really want to agree with the OP, at least write a few words, instead of flooding this Forum with stupid and useless posts, trying to get a high post count which about. Noob.

I agree with you, Killer, it is sad that you had to experience this sickening act, but as the saying goes, "With age comes experience", and in the future, hopefully you will be more careful :) (Dropping the flag ok top of him, for example, would be a good way of ensuring that HE caps the flag.)

Welcome to the internet world.

I play Halo (I know that's not an internet game but whatever), and people playing are never this selfish. In my two years of playing I've never had anyone doing the things people do in Tanki.

Btw, I edited your post  :P.
