If gold drops, block the timer

i simply think if gold drops timer will stay on 00:00 until someone gets gold but kills wont count, score wont count isdida healling allies wont earn xp on scoreboard- this is the thing that would balance it

The only thing what could balance is this- Remove GoldBoxes.

if Gold boxes gets removed, they can add this idea to block timer when gold drops.

Maybe..A Gold box shouldn't even drop if the timer is under 1 min.

But I'm torn between supporting the OP and saying it should stay this way - just because it's worth a few laughs.

Probably the worst idea in terms of gold box IMO.

dont worry, it will surely be trashed idea

 

many great ideas have just been thrown away so why not this too? :P

I don't remember this being a problem before early battle termination and flag/cap limits were added.

 

Maybe I'm delusional but I thought there was already logic in the game to prevent gold from falling in the last minute or two of a timed game.

 

Now there is the all too common flag Capture or even more maddening the CP ticker crosses the finish line before gold has fallen.

 

Maybe add a rule to stop gold from dropping within the last two minutes of play, the last 2 flags from the limit and the last 10ish CP points of that limit?

 

 

Early termination? If gold siren has been announced, delay early termination. Once early termination has started, do not drop gold.

 

I agree with the others that expanding play time even by halting the timer is too impactful to gameplay.

 

It's a tough nut to crack.

Will the gold box be stuck in the air?

No. The whole point of the idea is to allow players to catch the gold box before the game ends. So during any battle with a timer, when the gold drops, the timer freezes at whatever time it was on, the gold drops, gets caught, and the timer unfreezes and continues as normal.

With this definition, I am a NO for this idea. I'm with those who point out that such a change opens up too many unforeseen consequences.

 

- gold falls, timer freezes, gold is caught, timer infreezes, gold falls again, timer freezes again, rinse and repeat

- gold falls, timer freezes, mult leaves, takeover team player joins, losing team ties or turns around the game to a win

-player on losing team exploits and abuses system by continuously dropping gold in the last few seconds of game play, or as part of a coordinated attack

 

That's just off the top of my head. Messing with the timer is IMO a bad thing.

How many golds are you realistically going to get in 15 minutes? It may result in 3 minutes delay at most.

Have the system work for server-dropped golds only?

 

But other than these two things I also agree that this is not the best idea. Many players come to a battle to play for exactly 15 minutes and not a second more. Having these delays will not only cause inconvenience, but it might also result in frustrating situations where your team is about to win, the enemy takes your flag with only 5 seconds left, but a gold drops and they suddenly get an extra 40 seconds to cap, resulting in a tie.

 

So yeah, there are better ideas to prevent waste of golds due to battle finish.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible for a gold to drop if there's under a minute left on the clock. I once tried dropping one, wasn't able to do so though.

Not sure if this applies to normal golds as well.

15 minutes? I expect this suggestion also applies to PRO battles.

 

Sitting back and thinking about it, I see back to back system gold drops just about as often as I see golds lost to timer or player induced battle termination.

 

Anyway, bottom line, delaying the timer is not the way to solve the problem.

It doesn't really matter in pro battles, since those have custom time limits anyway. But I'm pretty sure that for standard battles devs will stick to the rule of having battles last no longer than 15 minutes. Maybe shorter due to auto-finish, but not longer.

 

And yeah, it should apply to pro battles as well. I was just talking about the standard length.

Gold lost its value dramatically. I myself converted from my heart beating when seeing the gold or the notification (Gold Box Will Be Dropped Soon) to a full neglecting of the gold.

Look at my profile, you see me caught 470 Golds, would you think that I will care about the 471?
