I agree with HBTY, Viking is better for Thunder between these two. 

 

However, in my experience Dictator and Hornet definitely stand a chance. Because Thunder is very less effective from later M2 ranks due to the protections so it needs a lot of drugging to be effective and Dictator helps in that area.  Meanwhile, Hornet ignores the protections and also provide you speed and drifting ability if you know how to use it then it is definitely a much better combo as you know if someone has no protection and no DA equipped how hopeless are they against Thunder, but it will be at the cost of low hp.

It also depends on play style and ODs. I can do well with Thunder and Hunter. And in maps like Highland you can't hide and shoot from behind the broken lower walls with Viking.

Dictator? Granted. It's got the kit (saves crystals) and gameplay with Dictator/Thunder is really fun compared to both Viking and Hunter witht the same turret. @speedygonzales_TURBO I said Viking, but that's only among the two you asked about. If you want Thunder, definitely get Dictator.

However, on HBTY2 I ended up spending most of it on 2 M1 kits, and 6/10 upgrades on Magnum, and a couple alts. Now I have like 5K crys :) Tbh I could still go pretty well, b/c my Hunter is 20/20, so I've not got a bad combo, but still. Wait for M2 product kits and get 2 of them, that's when you need the most versatility.

Siberian Kit would be a good option. Well now - I've gotten 2x 100Ks and 1x 300K on this account and HBTY2 combined.

 

Ok, thanks for the advice! I've had a prior experience multing testing w/ other accs, so I know what I like. Fun fact: this account was designed to be another experiment, but when it started succeeding I decided to devote more time into this.

Stick with Keeper. That'll get you to WO2 when I would advise you to get Osaka or Siberian. DO NOT get Avalanche or Stinger, without drugging light hulls get one-shotted way too much, especially with melee turrets. Quick note, make sure you have enough for Osaka or Siberian at WO2, because these kits quickly lose their value, as Isida and Freeze are weak M2s.

 

Once you have one of the two, DO NOT MU (except for first step - it's 100 crys :P). I'll assume that by this time you have M2 Keeper, or at least a decent set of MUs. Your equipment at this point will take you to WO5 (with the help of PRO battles) and at that point, choose between Boar or Voltage. If you're a buyer at this point, and you have a good store of drugs, then wait a rank and get Juggler. Without a hefty supply of drugs, Boar will really help you. I would personally recommend Boar b/c it is very good, but so is Voltage - choose what suits you. If you get Boar, bear in mind that Rico is a ton better this MFS alt so using stock Rico at low ranks to try it out, you won't get the same results.

 

At this point (WO5) you should have (with cautious spending, NEVER MU without a sale) Titan M2, Smoky M2, Freeze M2, Dictator M2, Rail/Rico M2, and Hunter M1. Use this to take you to at least Second Lieutenant, at which point you have a couple options. If you're happy with where you are, then keep going - at that point, assuming we've passed through Tanker's Day (September) or Tanki's 11th birthday, both of which should have 50/70% MU sales, you should have Dictator+Railgun/Ricochet M3, or at least a good set of MUs. If you feel like gameplay is getting repetitive, then you have a couple options. If you want to gain access to a couple different things, get Fireworks kit. That way, you get stunning parkour abilities (KEEP YOUR WASP M0!!) and also access to XP/BP battles. It is worth noting, though, that you don't want to be putting extensive MUs into secondary kits as a non-buyer. I never used Dictator/Hammer so idk if that's good, but flat M2s won't be faring very well at these ranks.

If, however, you don't feel the need for XP/BP or parkour abilities, then go with Chiropractor to spice up gameplay. Shaft is also good with Dictator. Rico and Rail are both good with Hunter. Need I say more? ;)

 

After you've done this, keep your secondary combos at limited MUs. Once you've gotten a good set of M2s (remember you will also have Titan/Smoky M2), just save till Marshal - at that point, you should have at least two M3s, and if you've saved enough you can reach and you can get two M3 kits, and get a decent amount of MUs for those. At that point - just keep playing, earning, spending smart. Print this and put it next to your laptop so you never mess up :)

What is the best gun for free to play players? (Low ranks)

A gun with a low m1 unlock rank, but high m2 unlock rank will give you great power through micro upgrades, and smoky fits this category, but you could also go for a balanced gun that can work well in all ranges... Though to be honest smoky still fills that role.

Currently gauss is utterly devastating (even m2 has a chance to oneshot m4 medium hulls if they aren't protected).

 

I'd only use firebird and freeze if you're confident in your skills with them, as not having a good hull is going to make it feel like hell to progress. Isida can sort of work due to the healing ability and no damage dropoff for attacking but I recommend using it with viking unless you're using the broadband radiators alteration.

 

And generally long range guns like railgun, shaft, magnum have all insane damage so they can let you claim kills even if your hulls aren't up to speed with the enemies of your rank.

 

I can't say much about twins, hammer, ricochet as I don't use them a lot...

 

I guess I skipped thunder, I would start using it at m2 probably, as it can benefit a lot from the microupgrades all the way to m3, and you'll unlock the sledgehammer rounds alteration along the way which will make it a nightmare to anyone unprotected (Unfortunately, protection is common).

 

So... I guess smoky is quite ideal to cross through the m1 ranks. But at m2 you start to have more powerful variety.

i strongly agree. because it is actually one of the top M2 kits, and WO4 buyers come along and buy it, while the rest of us has to work our butts off in tanki trying to get those crystals. there's actually a product kit called "Hammer of Thor" and u can't buy it in the shop: u have to spend 43.4k crystals and have to between the ranks of staff sergeant and WO1 to buy it. honestly, pitbull kit should be like that, unable to be purchased in the shop, considering it being one of the most powerful M2 product kits of all time. isn't that right?

above is my OG account's explanation with Minotaur Kit for whoever wanted to ask what mid-ranking M2 product kit is better. Firewall is similar anyway, except if u slap on the "Incendiary Mix" alteration and it's more OP than viking's overdrive (by 0.5%). But minotaur kit is cheaper, right? When it comes to firewall kit vs minotaur kit - it's a small price to pay for salvation (or for higher K/D).

Don't get Viking! It is terrible. Worst hull in the game. It's super slippery, unstable, and can't rock at all. It has a bad profile and a slow-charging OD. What is there to like about it? It even looks hideous!

Which M2 product kit should I save up for? I have 45k crystals from challenges, including Siberian/Osaka kit, even know it has Hunter M1 which has about 150 armor more than my M1 viking (2/10 MU steps completed).  Plz reply ASAP

I like the looks, but it only really fits brawl range guns...

Hunter is statistically superior in everything that isn't speed, and the overdrive is actually useful... Trust me you do not want to roam around with a 35% rail protection on viking and be literally unable to move under the fire of 2 railguns because it's as light as a feather.

Occasionally I've had even thunders literally turn me 90 degrees away, and under fire from twins or a ricochet I almost stand no chance at correcting my movement to chase them down with isida. And yes you just need a scout to pummel the poor thing around the field, even an m3 at 10/20 upgrades.

I'm lovin' it. A First Sergeant doesn't generally give advice, because they would be termed a newbie by the vast, vast majority of players at a higher rank than them.

 

And actually - taking flat M3s Hunter might win a race, because it has a faster acceleration. Depends on the distance. But yes, Viking is faster... by less than 0.5 metres/second. In literally every single other statistic, Hunter is equal or better. Check the Wiki if you don't believe me. 

Ofc I'm a stats person too, but if things have exactly equal stats then I'll go with the one that looks better. I was just pointing out that no one can even say that it looks better.

First, sluggishness, because the turning speed and acceleration are super slow. Second, like "why am I playing on ice!!!" You're slippiing and sliding everywhere. Of that OD that occurs 1-2 times a game, you miss half your shots if you're using Railgun (or at least I do :P).

btw the highest rank i've ever been at was sergeant-major, but that account got banned. about 43,000/57000 xp

 

also, i recommend aborigine kit for ur rank if u like hunter soooooooo much and despise viking then, so argue now or forever hold ur peace plz. also, why i hate hunter: it's overdrive is bad, also with the release of tankoins being imminent, i can't buy product kits with hunter M1 anymore, also i have insufficient drugs to support any of hunter's product kit, because viking fires DD shots, w/ no reload, even when u have no DD activated. that's why i like viking so much. so i can kill the juggernaut within seconds.

That's exactly what I thought back when I was young and ignorant :P Viking is faster - I use it. Hunter is useless. I had M0 Hunter and barely used it until WO5, when I got Chiropractor kit (Shaft/Hunter). I thought Hunter was useless until I used it. Now when I use it... ugh. Can't play with it. It's gross.

 

In what way does that help your cause? Sergeant Major is still nub xD Sry to bust the buttons :P

 

Um.. have you looked at my garage? Tbh I don't like Smoky, but I already have 4 M3s (M2 10/10) and that includes Hunter, so no thanks, thank you very much. Hunter's OD is OP according to most people.

 

Again, umm... lol. Viking doesn't fire higher-dmg shots except for DPS turrets (this was changed after the update). Anyhow, I don't drug at all (except for parkour) and I win, so get some skill instead of drugs :)
