Select 3 maps you don't want to play via MM system

You tired of seeing the same map or game mode over and over again, or just don't want to be put into a specific map or game mode for whatever reason? Then the ability to block list MM maps and game modes is the solution.

For maps, let's say you don't like highways, and you decide to add it to your map blocklist. Now MM won't put you in that map.

For game modes, maybe you don't like ASL, and you add it to your game mode blocklist. Now every time you use the quick battle button, MM won't put you in that game mode.

My least favorites are

  1. Stadium SGE and TJR
  2. Massacre TJR
  3. Highways TJR
  4. Parma RGB
  5. Desert TJR
  6. Yorkshire TJR (bases are not balanced)
  7. Iran ASL (unbalanced against defense)

1. Massacre (Most time is spent driving, and the hills make it so you're exposed for all to see, or you have no effective line of sight.)
2. Highways (Pretty good in CP and SGE, but you drive even more than in Massacre.)
3. Stadium (You either use a sniper or just sit exposed in the open. No thanks.)

Dishonorable mention:
Archipelago (Basically a sorting algorithm. First minute or two is a legitimate battle, but after that you either get spawnkilled, or sit on an island with 3 other teammates for minutes at a time. It's not in the top 3 because it's an interesting concept that could work with some tweaks.)

Oh, it's my favourite map ?. It's good for many turrets, and inzeresting mechanism....

very good idea but it would (maybe) be harder for MM to pick players and put them in a map that everyone likes. how ever because there are so many maps on the game it might not be a problem. of course when almost everyone hates let say silence and you like it there very much it would be less fun for you

i have never played on those in MM. and almost never on these

it should be an extra page that you can find in setting where you can decide to never play on ... map or that you can decide to never play there in certain mode's like TJR OR CTF. sorry if this idea is already in this topic.

Any chance of implementing this system where you can switch off the maps that you don't want to join. I personally dislike solikamsk and various other maps, so when I get into this map, it's just annoying. This will help make it possible to play on maps, which you like, like before matchmaking.

Stadium isn't that bad, once you have a long range turret things become better. The 2 maps I don't prefer to play in are Massacre and Highways. Both are redundant for modes such as CTF and Juggernaut. Good for CP, Siege and TDM, but that is it.

Create a rotation pool of maps that updates bi-battle pass-ly. It'll make things a little more exciting and you'll have an easier time pick-and-choosing the maps you'll like with a smaller pool. There're like 40 MM maps right now, and I propose to drop the pool to like 10. If Devs want to pull any maps out to remaster them (which I strongly encourage them to do), this way there'll still always be the same number of maps in rotation. They can also throw in test maps that haven't been in MM rotation before like Deathtrack, Kolhoz, and Novel.

Suggestion:
Quick Battle is great for fast matchmaking, but many players leave battles as soon as they’re placed on maps they dislike. What if players could select preferred maps for rotation?

 

Proposed system:
When entering Quick Battle, allow players to tick which maps they’re willing to play on. Game modes (Siege, TDM, Juggernaut, CTF, etc.) stay randomized, but the system rotates only through maps the player selected.

 

Why this is a great idea:

  • It reduces match quitting and AFK behavior.
  • Players are more likely to stay in matches they actually enjoy.
  • It gives players a sense of agency and reduces frustration.
  • It doesn’t mess with the core matchmaking system.. just filters maps based on personal preference.

 

This small freedom can significantly improve the matchmaking experience and keep players more engaged.

I like this idea... Because even if our system can handle the big maps, the issue takes on another form - low FPS and stuttering.

Also, the current matchmaking system in Tanki is extremely biased towards medium and long-range maps over short-range maps, which essentially lowers the use of melee-range turrets like Firebird and Isida, and light hulls like Wasp and Hornet. In my opinion, all maps, or at least all sizes of maps, should be included in the matchmaking system, i.e., short-range, medium-range and long-range maps, which will not only improve the gameplay experience (by providing players with a large variety of maps), but also make players free to use all types of turrets and hulls without getting absolutely decimated in every battle. Also, I think the number of players to be fit in a single battle should also be decreased by quite a lot, as fitting so many players into one battle does nothing other than lowering our FPS even more and making the gameply more chaotic, as in such battles, you often get destroyed immediately after spawning, which is really annoying.
