Event Helpers should be the only ones able to write on the Events section of the chat

Recommended Posts

Hi, tankers!

You probably know that when some event is held, many players miss the link because of spammers. Also, many players post fake links and eventually trick those who want to enter the real Event battle.

So my idea is to disable writing on the Events section of the Chat to all players except the Event Helpers.

So, with this, Helpers can peacefully post all the necessary information about the Event without spammers and chat floods.

The Events chat, like all other chat channels, is meant for general discussion and is not strictly limited to messages regarding events. That being said, Event helpers already have icons in chat, so I don't really see how you can miss a link posted by someone with an Event icon, and especially how you can mistake a fake link for a real one, if it wasn't posted by a helper.

I don't participate in events so I'm not sure how bad the problem really is, but disabling chat for normal players is a far too complicated solution.

.

The issue is not about the icon of the event helper. The problem is that, close to the moment when the event will start, a lot of players begin to post "go, it's time, where is the link", and lot of other irrelevant stuff. Then, when the link is posted, there are a lot of messages posted at the same time, and it's pretty hard to click on the link the first time, because by the time you move your mouse to the link, it's already moved on top lol.

The last time I tried to participate was 7-8 months ago, I have no idea how it is now.

But the event helper could, for example, disable the chat for the last minute before he will post the link.

The Events chat should be used only for posting rules and links for the Event that will be held. If you want to discuss about an Event, you have the General chats, topics on the Forum about it.

Even if some players that want to help or official Helpers post the link for Event rules, again some players will ask "what to use", "who posts link", "can I use thunder" etc, again they will spam the chat with unnecessary questions. If someone doesn't want to read or follow the Rules, he shouldn't participate and flood the chat.

This is my idea and I think that it shouldn't be declined. What does make life easier for players that want to participate and Helpers, this:

or this?

And, if you are not sure how bad the problem is, why is the idea declined? I don't think that disabling chat for normal players would present a big problem, I already mentioned where can they discuss about certain Events. The Events section should only be used by Helpers to give more information, not by some players who do not want to open the Forum and check the Rules.

Alright, I looked into this and I agree with your idea. The chat problem doesn't happen that often and not with all events, but it's still there, so your suggestion is valid.

However, the event admins already contacted developers requesting permissions to stop the chat during events, yet they were denied. So unfortunately this is still declined because it's not allowed to happen.

HammerGod, in all the events I tried to participate, I never saw a single player banned because he was posting fake maps. All I saw was some bans for flood or profanity.

@NedFighter Posting fake links is not the issue, That is in fact against the Event Rules, which means if we find someone posting fake links we will take action.

I know that Helpers punish players who post fake links, but wouldn't my idea make life for Helpers and players who want to participate easier? Instead of banning spammers and other violators, would it be easier if you could only concentrate on how to organize the Event (not to think if someone will annoy you by messages like "hammergod u post?", "5,4,3,2" etc.) ?

Oh absolutely, It’s just not up to the Event Team.
