Mines are now a problem

Add Drones to counter these Mine-laying Drones.

some ideas....

  • Minesweeper Drone blows up X amount of mines its user is about to drive over(before the user gets into damage range). Amount of mines per battery it can blow up is based on MU level.
  • Minelifter Drone lifts up and throws X amount of all planted mines (including allied mines)away from its user in the direction the turret is facing. Mines explode once they are out of full damage range of the Drone user. High MU = more mines lifted.
  • Minestealer Drone collects all mines it encounters and replants them immediately for its user.

Minejumper Drone makes your tank automatically jump over mines. If the mine is thrown directly onto your tank (enemy is on top of your tank), the mine will jump back and damage the enemy who dropped the mine (karma xD).

From the wiki:

Mine "Deals between 1200-2400hp when driven over."

Mines do 1800 damage per mine on average. My M4 Dictator (Ricosck) cannot usually take two, not four with double armor. With DA active, I often drive over mines intentionally to clear them when there is only one, or two if I'm not under fire, and assuming I have a repair kit available.

With enemy Saboteur active, it is easy to explode five or six mines at once (counting burn-spots before the respawn). I never survive that, even with 30% protection equipped.

All mines deal the same damage (1200-2400) regardless of source. At least, we haven't been told differently by any official announcement.

Complaints end up in Ideas and Suggestions now.

But since OKDad70 said "remove Assault or nerf Mines" maybe the title of this topic should be rename to that "Remove Assault or Nerf Mines", not as an idea but a a suggestion.

Tanki is turning into Battle of the Drones. Wasn't there a Sci-Fi movie with a similar name?

I remember when drones were being discussed in the forum. Everyone had their own idea of their characteristics. Drones that flew around the battlefield and drop bombs. Drones that traveled by land and were radio controlled. Drones with heat seekers. And the list goes on. I don't think anyone foretold the present outcome.

we already have defender drone,  which can let us drive over 8 mines without getting killed. and if you have spider module then 17 mines

Seems low.  Hard to believe my m3 17/20 Viking is already damaged every single time I drive over one and blow up...

In any event - 90% of the time light hulls die on first mine - and they are often the players trying to cap.

Not to mention m2 players...

No-one can get through the Saboteur defense - I've been on teams with just 1 and enemy capped 0 flags - mostly because of the mines

Likely needs tweaking so it has fewer mines.

Instead of hurting mines capabilites, why not be more strategic. You can kill the MINER, and then get in. Tanki doesnt need to be easy. Making it hard makes teams have to THINK more....something not popular these days "Dont make me think!"

I seem to be unlucky with my mines' damage. My mine, whenever I see the number on the map, would deal 1,300-1,600 on average. I would sometimes see numbers like 653 or around 800 when they have double armour enable.

Somehow though, my enemies seem to get more than 2000 damage on theirs when I go ever their mines. My Hunter with practically 2,300 would get 85 - >90% of its HP taken away from a single mine, yet my mines would only take away 60-70% of their health. Few times have I visually gotten more than 1,800 damage.

Lots of mines are laid via overdrive just as a side effect. I sometimes kill an enemy with a mine from overdrive and I just smile how lucky I am.

Maybe a bit of balance but not too much change around base its a strategy, they have that area open for a reason, and honestly not everyone has drones so its not a high likely issue... yet.

I found the principle of Saboteur drone quite strange. The additional mines deal the same amount of damage and how the heck are we not supposed to step on too many of them?

The drone should lay 2 to 4 additional mines, that deal half the damage, in a straight line. For example, while driving down a ramp, if you lay a mine, the additional mines will form a line completely blocking the path. Adjusting the tank would make a diagonal or vertical line of mines. This way, even if you try your best, your can't avoid stepping on the mines but you still can survive them.

A rough idea:

With the ability to combine Saboteur drone with Miner hull augment, mines are now even MORE of a problem!

Until they have squeezed as much cash as they can from these augments, then guess what, nerfed so much they become slightly less than useless.

Same old, same old.

laughs in mammoth trickster + Isida support nanobots gigachad combo @2shots2kills

Saw the Mythical Isida + Mammoth combo in Brest map and almost fell off my chair. Truly a UNIT in the enemy team healing everyone like a madman might as well say I fought 10 Godmodes in one map. Last time I saw these bad boys was maybe 2015 so the nostalgia hit after seeing Mammoth + Isida made me cry too.

If the devs wanted to make it even more of a problem they could implement Hover Hulls not setting mines off at all because in reality even vehicles hovering like this do not set off mines.
Video is a clip from the show Mythbusters.

Devs please don't do this

Hmm interesting video. They forgot to test whether mines ignore allied vehicles though ?

@frederik123456 I hope they do because I'd die even more in assault hahaha

Actually, this genuinely gave me an idea.
It's possible it wouldn't work at all, but still I think it's interesting.
In Tanki, friendly fire is turned off, for better or for worse, and it's staying that way, of course.
But in general, there still is self-damage (splash, ricoshets, grenades in the future...). Why not make it that you blow up on your own mines?
It would be self limiting for all miners and IMO, worth a test. (Your own mines could have a separate color/outline or something like that).

That's actually a pretty cool idea and would put a lot more strategizing into mine placement and gameplay. It would be fun for them to test!

I remember when hover hulls were first added, the question about how they will set off mines was a popular one. Opex-Rah said something along the lines of "I'm pleased to announce that we've upgraded all of your standard mines to smart proximity mines completely free of charge! They will detect enemy hover tanks and detonate under them. You're welcome!"
