Why you should accept the fact that this game is dead and move on

Yep, yep.  With your reasoning, if a low KD player would have said the things I said, you would have proved that person really is  struggling in the  game, ergo, game is too hard for non-buyers.  Your reasoning based on 1 sample is misleading, to say the least.  I say that overall this game is going towards where non-buyers overall have to struggle more in order to cope in the game.  That is due to too much of protections and boosts available to players with crys, while a non-buyer, like myself, with a limited equipment in his/her garage has to be even more skillfull and smart in order to cope.  This game is now less fun than what it used to be....

Buyers still take the lion share of the top-spots in battles but F2P tankers can compete and be successful (depending on your definition).

My Lt. General account has 3 hulls and 3 turrets all at m2.9,  2 drones upgraded half-way and about 12 of the 14 modules at 29-32%.  Unless the rank-spread is stupid-wide (happens) I can place in top-3 of my team regularly.

Yes, and no, but more yes, kinda. This paragraph is a lot better than your first one, and Id say sums up the f2p position very well. Well written.

If a person said what you said, but had a low k/d, Id think that person is good evidence for your point. Your account is evidence against th game being unplayable because you are clearly succeeding and doing way better than average.

However, here you assert that you can still compete despite the game offering bonuses to paying players, which is both as it should be and just well said in general.

The game is Very generous to f2p players, but they will still face an uphill battle in some places when facing those with much better equipment

I still like to drop in and WHOOP the noobs with my Mk9 railgun (fully microupgraded Mk7 + large caliber rounds) + Mk8 viking (fully microupgraded Mk7) + heavily microupgraded driver drone. I also wear zeus paint like one would wear an expensive watch.

It's no different to M4 Railgun with LCR. Lol

Imagine wearing Zeus, and not Moss.

Tanki doesn't need to bring them back because they didn't remove them. I know what you are talking about but these battles were created by players themselves (and they still can), the reason we don't see them now is because players are not interested anymore with this kind of battles.
I remember when the battle list was full of these maps, now its full with Silence/Rio Parkour because simply some players are interested in playing parkour more than playing some no-supplies battles.

imagine being this deluded

i hope your brain functions are not this severely inhibited and you're only saying this because you are being payed

One suggestion, an one that I think is going to happen. Tanki needs players to take leadership to bring the game back to where it was. One way? Last night my discord played a huge battle in Old Temple. It was freaking amazing, and we will be doing more in the future. Huge battles with lots of players and less spawn killing are amazing

I honestly think this topic should just be closed. The discussion is just too provocative.

Plus we get the point, tanki has been releasing updates that many don't approve of.

As much as I want this topic to stay, I have to agree because the post is over 5 months old or something idk.

Fascinating discussion here!

In my honest opinion, Tanki is far from dead. It has become very complicated and mobile-oriented, but nah — definitely not dead.

Also, I think that people (including me) have very short attention spans nowadays, and that plays a major role in deciding what they like/enjoy. The world is moving forward (I think, lol) a bit too fast, and it is difficult to keep up with all those changes in trends and mindsets.

I have noticed that most of such "Tanki is dead" topics usually have two kinds of people: those who are nostalgic and simply love their "Tanki-era", and others who are relatively new and are able to enjoy the current version of Tanki (of their time). There's a third kind too — those who are able to look at the whole thing objectively irrespective of when they joined the game — but their number is very low.

I don't know if Tanki is losing players or have become increasingly pay-2-win over the years, but I've played Tanki on and off since the legacy skin days and I think the current Tanki is much more fun.

Protection modules, drones and augments made the game more complex and built on the idea of building your own tank and playstyle.

It's also become generous with giving supplies to players. Unless I remember wrong, in the legacy days you got very few for free and it was very difficult to get enough crystals to spare for supplies, so buyers who constantly used supplies (which boosted speed, damage and HP 100%) were very powerful.

Pay-to-win now seems to mostly be about some OP augments, but I honestly rather meet those occasionally in matches than the issue with the supplies back in the legacy days. But again, I might remember wrong.

Getting enough crystals to upgrade turrets and hulls also depended very heavily on being among the top players in your team if I remember correctly. The nr 1 player would get much more than the nr 2, and the bottom half almost none. So if you weren't very good and could, somehow, compete against the pay-2-win supply users, you basically couldn't upgrade anymore to be competitive after a certain rank and had to start a new account to enjoy the game again.

Now the main way to get crystals is from finishing the very easy missions, and doing well in battles doesn't seem to be necessary to get enough crystals to upgrade at least 1 turret and 1 hull to be competitive, so it seems to be much, much more player friendly.

Never thought about it in that way but you've got many strong points! I enjoyed the old Tanki for what it was and I'm really enjoying the sports and classic mode currently but with the newer complexities, this game has become more 3 dimensional and it can lead to more fun (but only if executed right).

Nothing has changed in that regard except it's way more expensive.

Friendly to buyers, very unfriendly to F2P.

How you think about TO is all back to front, inside out and very misguided.

TO has become massively complicated, total P2W, with the developers doing everything they can to maximise profit and in the process giving as little as they can back to the players. The container nerf is a very good example of this maximising philosophy for little reward. Containers are now total trash, which is why I no longer buy the battle pass.

They still can't get updates right, everyone they do affects the game to some degree, lag, no damage, not being able to change equipment, etc, yet they want to sell you items for a hugely exaggerated price. So no you are quite staggeringly wrong, TO is not "much more player friendly" very much the opposite and being able to earn crystals easier in no way makes up for the HUGE increase in price for everything, from upgrading garage equipment to buying items from the "joke shop", to opening the now useless containers.

The developers like players who experience the game with a child's mentality nearly as much as they like the buyers, because those two types of players don't find much wrong with the game. One is oblivious and the other takes advantage of their cash spending abilities.

Nah.  It's a lot worse for new players who start the game now than it was in 2015.  I wouldn't consider starting  anew account, even with the advantage of in-game experience.

Supplies, though around, are now just a basic element. Sure everyone has them - and they just cancel each other out.  Oh - except for batteries.  Good luck when you run out and have to rely on Brutus while the buyers still run their super-drones.

What you can only buy with TKs (or get extremely lucky in an Ultra Container) makes the difference in the game now.

You have some logic in your post, and true tanki have never been f2p, I remember the lack of supplies I had in that time. True they're giving us more crystals, but there are some more requirements to buy than 2014. There was 9 turrets, now 16 so you have to buy more prots. One paint give you 3 prots with 250K now you have to buy 3 Mk7s -510K total.

You have to buy augments who are 250K and drones who you can't use them with no full upgrades that cost you 2m.  Eventhough I believe the economy is somehow better than in the past, but not extremely.

The main difference between now and the old days is the inaccessible items, you can't get status augments - you can't upgrade to Mk7 before Marshal while buyers can from 6 ranks below.  Missions are very generous and give alot, but DEFINITELY not very easy like you said, especially ultra weekends.

Sounds like I'm probably wrong then, more or less, because you certainly seem to know more about TO than me so I respect your opinions, but I've seen different opinions from people who also seem knowledgable about the game, like DestroTank, who said that a F2P player can be competitive with buyers as long as they followed their advice, which they generously gave in a thread somewhere. If they're right then the game seems to be, at least to me, more F2P friendly than in the legacy skin days. (unless I remember wrong how it was back then)

like DestroTank, who said that a F2P player can be competitive with buyers as long as they followed their advice,

THE only way a F2P player can try and compete with a religiously competitive buyer is to be patient, (very) and not to rank to quickly so their garage falls way behind for acquiring the next upgrades for free.  Of course even following this sound advice wont make that much difference because of the high rate of updates the developers bring out, which usually favour the buyers, so in reality the F2P is back to square 1 with a vastly inferior garage compared to his P2W counterpart.

The word you need to take note of in this post is the word "REALITY".  A lot of players struggle with this concept when posting about TO, especially the thumbs up mods who fail to realise that stats and actual battles are very rarely in agreement, are maybe they do realise this and are just to pro dev to point out the numerous flaws in the game, flaws created by the developers for one purpose-CASH.

The game is the worst it has ever been, it's a real shame. Without all of the terrible updates there would still be a lot of active players.
