Garage description:

A long-range turret equipped with explosive shells that can hit several tanks at the same time. Holding down the firing button engages the electromagnetic accelerator, which makes it possible to fire at remote targets.

The «Gauss» cannon was born in the garages of tankers who were looking for ways to increase the effectiveness of Thunder against snipers. They discovered that winding the barrel's superconductor wire gives the shots a tremendous acceleration due to the effect of electromagnetism. A projectile fired in this way has a similar range to a Railgun shot, and delivered a particularly loud bang. This "homemade" modification of Thunder, paired with a modern aiming and tracking system, gave birth to the «Gauss» cannon — the most mobile sniper on the battlefield. As the shooter evades enemy fire at full speed, the «Gauss» guiding system independently makes an accurate shot at the optimal moment. A distinctive feature of this turret is the antennas, which extend while the electromagnetic accelerator is preparing for the shot. The turret has been nicknamed "big-eared sniper" due to its peculiar appearance.

From what the vlog said It just sounds like a stronger striker... Faster bullets, no left right aiming, lockon projectile is hitscan... Striker on steroids.

better than strike as enemy wont see you when you aiming,

50% striker salvo is wasted due to enemy hide towards wall when about to hit.

that ear pop-up, no one will notice when busy fighting.

I don't see it as a combination of many guns... Speed up striker rockets by a lot and remove the left/right shooting mode and you already have gauss. Remember in the single shot mode the bullet travels fast, it's not instant like thunder/rail/smoky/shaft etc. Think more like MFS rico? But with more range.

It's a Thunder with a Striker targeting system to deliver a super-shot that damages as much as a Magnum. The selling point is, unlike Striker and Shaft, its targeting system doesn't have a beam. You can camp and use this as a real sniper turret. But something tells me they will add the targeting beam.

Anti-Camper heh.

I wonder what the Gauss protection module name will be?

BTW, I memorized all 14 module names in the game.

What happened to hover tank? They been advertising it, but I don't recall any big adverts for Gauss.

I think they named the hover tank "Ares". And I think they're working on how it's OD is gonna work.

They have one idea, something will shoot out of its hole and might go through walls.

Aries the Ram: March 21 to April 19

Aries is ruled by Mars, the fiery red planet of energy and drive. In mythology, Mars was the god of war and aggression. Highly impatient and competitive, many Aries have the fighting spirit of your mythological ruler. You love to be a hero–or to be swept away by one. As the zodiac’s first sign, you were born to be number one. You’re a solo star who steals the spotlight and inspires everyone with your confidence. Yeah, you can be impatient, even a little bossy, especially when you don’t get your way. As the “baby” of the zodiac, you need lots of attention, and can throw quite the tantrum when you don’t get it. Fortunately, you rarely have a problem turning heads. Your friends love to follow as you lead them on the latest adventure. Make sure to let other people be the boss every now and then, too, or you could alienate potential allies. Focus your competitive streak into a diva-worthy goal, delegate to your troops, and you’ll rise to the top!

Or do I have the spelling wrong?

EDIT: I looked up Ares. He's the Greek god of war. His description doesn't vary too far from the description of Aries, above.

More importantly... how long after Gauss is released will they wait to introduce the protection module?  1 month?  2? 4?

I hope 1 month.... Since you have your precious Griffin T-A module setup, you can wait longer LOL.

Let's take it up a notch and predict what type of mechanics its alterations may have.

I'm already seeing an alteration that disables its lock-on mechanic but increases its arcade shot damage.

I'm seeing another where the projectile that it shoots when it locks onto an enemy would gain Incendiary or Cryogenic properties at the expense of decrease damage.

I'm trying to think outside the box for any alterations not already in the game. I've walked around this box a few times, but I'm not finding and discarded scraps.

Wait...one just hit me. A shot powerful enough to flip even a Mammoth but does no damage, making everyone self destruct. Everyone that self destructs from it's shot is a kill point. Naw, that'd be more like a OD.

Weather conditions had been bounced around many times in I&S and recently it has been marked valid so, maybe it can cause earthquakes that does damage. Nope still sounds like OD.

Yeah, I was trying to think outside of the box but I got nothing. The turret seems too simple for any complex new mechanics.

Well if it does no damage, then how will a kill or an assist come for the Gauss user? Would it have a new scoring system for how much impact force you inflict onto the enemy?

And an Overdrive that instantly flips many players or sends them flying seems interesting but also close to Juggernaut's Overdrive.

Ok, I see your point on the flips. I was thinking when the tanks flip the player will self destruct and that's how Gauss gets kill points. How about this: The flips do considerable damage and will kill Medium and light tanks, but not the heavy tanks, though they will receive damage. However, the turret has to be at full power in order to flip, otherwise, all it does is damage, which is calculated by the amount of power built up before firing. That way it can assist and teammates can finish off those who didn't die.

I don't know much about Juggernaut. I played it twice shortly after it came out.

Well, back to the drawing board.

Basing on what they showed us in vlog, the enemy got an electric shock visually when it was hit by an aimed shot.  Not sure if it has an actual impact, or it's just a visual effect.
