I'm surprised at the poll results.

In my opinion gauss goes best with titan, especially on an open map like massacre. You can just sit there for ages on double armor or under the dome. The fast reload and high damage stop enemies getting too close.

Most turrets apparently go best with Viking... but Viking is a trash soap bar so... welcome to our brave new world -_-

With everyone gunning for stars... no matter what the battle-mode, players act like it's all TDM.

Why try to cap a flag (and die often) when you can sit back and jusy destroy tanks.

Viking OD excels at this.

On flash it is, but only because flash is trash.

The new HTML5 movements are so smooth that it even treats Viking nicely.

In my opinion, Gauss is way too powerful (at least in the Midranks). There was a MM Battle where at the very beginning a normal Hornet with Double Armor destroyed 4 Tanks (including me) single-handedly, one after another. Pretty stupid, especially because he wasn't hiding but going in the offensive.

It doesn't make sense that Gauss has such huge Splash Damage but Magnum doesn't anymore. Gauss and Magnum should swap their Splash Radiuses and Damage, since Gauss is easy to use when nobody knows you're shooting them into oblivion in a few seconds, and their teammates probably as well.

Magnum is harder to use and can't spam its shots like Gauss can. However, only the "vertical" version should get its old Splash radius / dmg back. RGC Magnums mostly rely on direct hits, so it should be okay that those will have a smaller splash.

"one after another" sounds like individual snipes?  At best it would take an m4 Gauss 17 seconds to snipe 4 tanks - what was each tank doing during that time?

And if this hornet wasn't hiding, why did none of your team kill it?  Hornet (especially at mid-ranks) is the weakest hull in the game.

And if it's one-shotting your team "early in battle" it is likely using DD.  Why was no one using DA to counter?

Hm, it's best if you ignore the first part. Though, he made two separate kills from afar, came closer then, sniped another guy, and then shot again and killed us both. I guess it would be best if I had a module against it, but for now it's too expensive (I have neither the weapon nor the module).

I probably won't be able to buy the module before the Mk Update comes out, but 30% Protection should also suffice to avoid most one-shots

Yes - even modest protection can help you avoid getting one-shotted by snipers.  Which is why my default modules are Shaft/Rail/Gauss.  Most other turrets you have at least a chance to react (hide/RK/Shoot back/cap/etc...)

Also the protection won't help you if the hornet has its OD activated.

But this shouldn't be a reason to not buy protection against a turret. Hornet is but 1 of 7 hulls. And even if the heavy majority of the players use Hornet with said turret, you'll be making it harder for them to obtain their Overdrive, as well as chewing away at their double damage, which is what mostly makes Hornet's Overdrive so powerful.

Gauss seems to pair well with Viking and Hornet. Here are some good battles with Hornet:

And then there was this (2 separate sniping shots):

But when the majority of the players use hornet. Then it makes the protection modules pointless.

Wow I forgot this thing existed, since I haven't played the game in a while. Is it still inconceivably overpowered?

Good, lets all try to forget that this weapon exists so that it can be removed from the game and its features be added to the Thunder and Striker alterations. Know that wouldn't happen, but Gauss with its features doesn't look like a new weapon worth existing to me, it should be removed.

Anyone else annoyed by the loud noise of Gauss when you're hit?  I wish they'd tone it down a bit since I value my hearing.

You can't be annoyed by it if you don't play with sound enabled. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly, they should just remove this abomination. It's just a makeshift copy of and ruins the uniqueness of thunder, striker, shaft, magnum.

I'd agree - if Twins, Magnum and Hornet OD went with it...

Twins has been in the game for so long that it has become one of the iconic turrets. Not to mention that it was the original fast firing turret in the game before Vulcan came out.

Magnum is already unique, and it's splash isn't much of a problem. It's only evil when it has an alteration equipped.

I think hornet should still be able to ignore protections, but not completely (we all know how it turns out). A 75% protection ignore at most should suffice.

Has nothing to do with uniqueness (not sure how a turret not being unique affects you...)

Has to do with...

- Absolutely ridiculous impact twins has

- Game was not designed for indirect fire - nuff said there...

- Hornet already discussed

Just because you're inept dealing with certain turrets and hulls doesn't mean they should be removed.

It was a joke.  I don't expect any items to be removed.  Yeesh.

Thunder once had an instant hit feature, but Gauss shots can fly across the map almost as fast, which already made thunders feature somewhat less unique. And then thunders instant hit got replaced by projectile, so now Gauss is basically an upgraded version of thunder.

Striker has two modes, one that deals average damage and one that deals high damage, but with a laser. But so does Gauss minute the laser, also has a longer grace period, and it can do it in one swift shot. So Gauss makes striker obsolete.

Magnum has the ability to produce the largest explosion that a turret can produce, and so can Gauss but it's much more deadly. Bye bye magnum, hello Gauss.

Shaft can be stealthy for like 0.2 seconds, but it has to put in a lot of effort to do so, Gauss on the other hand can be stealthy for 2 or more seconds, and without any effort at all. Gauss takes the cake here.

With the addition of Gauss, these four turrets lost something unique.

Why would you let a twins get that close to you for?

The maps need to adjust for magnum.
